  1. My brother loves to eat them. He's not quite right in the head though????
  2. Sorry to hear of your loss.
  3. Sounds good. I think we are having duck fajitas tonight. Already looking forward to it. I gave 6 ducks to a friend of mine. He is originally from Guatamala. He made home-made tamales out of them and said it was fantastic. You'd think I would have got to try one???LOL!
  4. Great Pics John. Not everyone gets to see sights like that.
  5. Every piece of duck hunting equipment I own is completely covered in mud. It's all starting to blend in pretty good to the surrounding areas I've been hunting.
  6. Thats awesome Rick! Hope you catch a pile of them today.
  7. I was wondering when it would happen. Lower Taney has been holding a decent number of gadwals for a week now. They've got to be looking for some safe water.
  8. Eric, It was good to see you again. Thanks for the decoys and great report!
  9. I was at the Greenfield launch yesterday and the whole lake in that area had 1 1/2 inches of ice on it.
  10. I enjoyed the post Billethead started the other day about New Years Day Dinner. I've been eating a lot of duck the last couple of weeks. This is one of my favorites. Filleted duck breast marinated in a sweet citrus sauce (Mountain Dew and soy sauce) then pan seared in a little butter, long grain wild rice, steamed broccoli lightly drizzled with butter and an egg roll.
  11. Sounds like a good start to the New Year. Hope I have a crappie one!
  12. You guys have been watching too many cooking shows! LOL!
  13. Had a good time down there today and got to enjoy great food and even better company. Started the 1st day of the year off right with both rainbow and browns. Looking forward to next year!
  14. Been eating duck poppers all day. Had them for breakfast, lunch at the get together, and will be having them for dinner tonight. You know, them things have bacon on them dont ya!
  15. This last week has been pretty good on Taney.
  16. Not bad at all compared to what we've been dealing with duck hunting the last couple of days. I'll be on my way in about 30 minutes. Duck poppers are all rolled and ready to grill!
  17. Been doing a little duck hunting on Lower Taney the last few days. While out retrieving ducks in the boat I have noticed some huge shad balls back in some coves. Cockleburr Cove in particular has had some of the largest shad balls on the surface that I have ever seen. When I first saw them, I thought they were giant submerged logs and actually powered down to avoid hitting them. After realizing what they were I blew threw them and on the way back out saw hundreds of stunned and chopped up shad from my prop. Also, have found a few dead trout back there who's eyes were obviously bigger than their mouths. Found them dead with shad too big to swallow sticking out of thier mouths. Im sure there is more than trout back there gourging themselves on those shad. Just look for the gulls in the back of coves.
  18. Nice hunt you two! My brother Dave, a buddy and I hunted Lower Taney again this morning in the rain and sleet. Not many birds wanted to come to our party, but we did manage to take home 4 gaddys and 4 hooded mergansers. Two of the mergansers are headed to the local stuffer. Great hunt to end the year with. Gonna take a day off from the hunting tomorrow and bring in the new year with a couple of trout at the get together. Happy New Year everybody!
  19. I think it was from 3 years ago.....but, that is funny!
  20. I'll be there about 10:30 and start cooking poppers around 11.
  21. This cold front has finally brought us some birds to play with. Hunted with Brother Dave and a buddy this morning on Lower Taney and had a few birds want to play. Two days in a row of good hunts. Have to eat duck stir fry for dinner so we can go out and do it again in the morning.
  22. Two more Bands! Nice Marty!
  23. Not staying logged in also
