Bo, What are your thought's on recessed line ties/eyes? Seems like they help protect the knot a little from bouncing around in the rocks. Interested to hear if that's something you've ever considered in the design of your jigs. -

Heads up reminder that Elites are on the Sabine River this week. Don't forget to get those lineups set. -
We've had this "perch" convo here before. It's a regional deal and varies. Northerners associate perch with yellow perch. Which is correct, factually speaking. Southerners call them "brim or bream" which is associated with bluegill, sunfish, shellcrackers, etc. Midwesterners/Ozark Folk for whatever reason lump green sunfish, red ear, bluegill, yellow perch and pumpkinseeds into one group....perch. It's not correct, factually speaking. Perch should really only refer to the Yellow Perch found in northern lakes. However, Yellow Perch are found in Bull Shoals and there was a pic here on OAF a couple years back of a nice specimen caught by a board member. Not sure the reason but that's the way it is 'round here. In my family we really have two classifications on TR....Bluegill and Perch. Blue Gill are of course Blue Gill and Perch are green sunfish and pumpkinseeds. Redears are in Table Rock but they are pretty rare to come across. My grandfather always referred to green sunfish as "black perch" and not sure how that came about. Assuming because when they move shallow they take on a darker, almost black pigment from soaking up the sun. The bigger ones especially.

This is pretty much my setup. 7' MH rod but I use 20lb fluoro. Reason being because it will slow the fall rate some which I think is beneficial with a flutter spoon. The heavy line I also believe is necessary because I fish it around docks and cables. So trying to jack fish out of stalls and the abrasion that goes along with it I like the heavier line.

This is your final reminder to get your lineups set for the Texas event that starts tomorrow. Seems like this one will be all over the board compared to earlier tournaments. Not to many 30-50% ownership anglers and picks are spread out. Anybodies guess! Good luck guys. -
Well it's been so long since we've had you on the forums figured I would reintroduce you to the peanut gallery again. Glad to have you and your reports back. Hope the system is fixed and you're a regular again here on the TR forum once again. Thanks for the great reports.

Didn't know you were Scottish, Bill. Nice Mossy Oak kilt.

Hope the levels don't fluctuate much and interfere with a successful spawn. Sounds like the bed fish are getting clobbered as it is.

Final reminder to get those lineups set. Kentucky Lake starts tomorrow morning. Gonna be some huge bags brought it this weekend. A 30lb bag is not out of the question. Grand proved to "show out" with some real nice and healthy 5 fish bags. Kentucky Lake should be even better with that Tennessee River strain of biggin's. Good luck guys! -
Nice, healthy looking fish there RPS. Why anyone owns a wind/weather vane on the Rock is a mystery. It changes every friggin' 10 minutes so what's the point! Reminds me of all my fond fishing memories with my grandfather. Always grumbling about the constant shifting of wind direction on TR.

Final reminder to get your lineups set guys and gal. Elites start on Grand tomorrow morning. The field seems to think there will be quite a few 20+ lb sacks with fish in all 3 stages of the spawn. Should make for an interesting tournament. Good luck! -
This. If the spinnerbait comes out of the package with the trailer hook I will leave it on. But otherwise I don't add one as I think them getting snagged more often outweighs the potential hookup percentage increase.

If anyone asks where the Elite's "Release Boat" is after the tournament ends on Sunday gets a free pistol whip from me. Should be an interesting tournament as the last few times BASS has been at Grand it's been in early March for the Classic and has been colder than a well diggers behind. Should see some big sacks come across the stage. -
Nobody is impervious to our defense snakes, including even J-MO and myself. We just have special member bands, designed by a collaboration between NASA and Lockheed Martin, that have to be worn at all times while within the "hot zone". The bands run a proprietary frequency interference algorithm that interrupts the laser targeting units and allow us to move about freely within the member grounds. You know that "sinkhole" that opened up at Top of the Rock???? "Sinkhole"????????? Orrrrrrrr lab testing accident gone wrong.......you be the judge.
-
That was our old way of deployment. Had issues with it jarring loose the laser targeting headpiece system. Since then we have gone to drones. Drones, baby. Drones. Extremely effective and accurate within an eyelash tolerance. Haven't seen Alex Heitman around lately have you? Wonder why........

Just a heads up that the Elite event on Grand starts next week. Feels like it's been an eternity since their last tournament. Don't forget to get those rosters set. -
Burmese Cottonconstrictor to be exact. Genetic hybrid modification paid for by the one other member of my club. I just call him J-MO. Good guy, owns some outdoor retail stores that do okay.

Champ, Just add this and the $3,000 price tag would be more than justifiable. Russell Marine Power Pole Pro Anchor Lights

I'm sponsored by Tackle Warehouse. I get discount's varying from 10-20% off on most major Holidays. They also give me t-shirts sometimes.

I have a solution to both your problems. Hate overcrowded lakes? Hate your exclusive membership rights being trampled on and club access all of a sudden becoming overrun with riffraff? I have a cove at Table Rock where membership is VERY exclusive and rarely gets fished due to the best security money can buy. PM me for more details about an Stay Out Canyon Cove membership, an Always In My Crosshairs property holding.

If we are going to call out poor Ned, then we must be fair and call out the true instrument of the devil/tournament directors....the Alabama Rig.

Like others have mentioned DO NOT go to BPS @ Branson Landing and expect to find a selection of rods. That store location is a last resort if I am in a crunch and HAVE to have something lickety-split. You'd be better off stopping by the headquarter shop in Springfield and even at that their selection outside of their own house brand gear is minimal. I'd get something off Tackle Warehouse before you make the trip to TR. Won't find a better selection of rods/tackle/gear than what they offer and they currently have a "Tax Relief" 10% off sale running. I don't personally have one but I've heard good things about the St. Croix Mojo Big Crankster. Lotta people like Dobyn's rods for cranking also. St. Croix Mojo Bass Glass Cranking Rod 7'8" Med Hvy Show Information Taper Line Wt. Lure Wt. Guides Handle Type Handle Length Stock Price Qty Moderate 10-20lb 3/8-1oz 8+Tip Mojo II Glass C 17" In Stock: 3+ $140.00 Another option would be to stop by the Lew's store in Springfield right off 44. Would have any rod you want in the Lew's lineup.
