Trophy, I can't speak for Dave but I have always had luck with the good old Zebco 33's for young kids. Even better luck with the Zebco 33 Classic. There are some high priced spincast like the Zebco Omega ($80!) and not sure how those perform considering the cost. Could be a good option for kids, wives, or someone that doesn't have much experience fishing. My 2 cents.

Might have to start throwing more big California style trout swimbaits looks like. That is what makes fishing so great, never truly know what you are going to have on the end of your line.

Just wait til early early spring in March and April when the wart bite is at it's peak around 50-58 degree water temps. Or someone on the BASS Elite trail uses one and does well. Prices bump up again. Couple of years ago over on Bull Shoals during the BASS event Elites were gobbling up all the pre rap warts they could get their hands on. I specifically remember people going crazy during and after that tournament for the V209 red craw but the more rare version with the green back instead of black. Crazy stuff. Just like last year after the classic Livingston Lures flying off the shelves and also the Rapala DT6 in Red Demon with prices jacked up because of Randy Howell.

Ya I had a pair of the Oakley Angler Specific Hijinx and lost them. Just happen to go to Oakley Vault (their closeout website) and what do you know they have the EXACT same model on sale for $110 (Regular price was like $160 or $180 if I recall). They sold out of them about 2 days later. About the only time in my life I've ever gotten lucky. Fast forward about a year+.....I find my other pair in the back cup holder of my father in laws race car that I hadn't been in with him in a while. Doh! Only thing that sucks about buying from Oakley Vault is that there is no warranty with glasses purchased from there. I have always treated everything I've even owned like very well and rarely break or damage anything so not a big deal to me.
-
I have Oakley's with the amber tint that are "Angler Specific" and love them. I've always been an Oakley guy though.
-
I agree (even though you are being sarcastic). I know a lot of you guys like them but I think there are better options that will run true out of the pack. Aka Jackall Mikey and others. At about $7 a bait and having to buy 5 to get one that works right that ONE bait turns out to be $35 bucks. I have some redfins but they are just to finicky for my taste. I might have to go tinker with them some more even though Babler in the past has said not too. At this point I want to tame the beast that is the redfin.

Johnny Morris Signature Gold Series Reels
abkeenan replied to Champ188's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Does the box of Kleenex and HP Laptop come included in the price with the reels? -
Ha. I guess maybe I am just cheap and wouldn't want to tinker with a bunch of NIP $10 baits. Risto's depending on model are getting crazy. The RR4's are going for like $35 a piece now. What in the heck? But I guess same can be said for Pre Rap Warts...what in the heck? Good luck in your search.

It's always nice to be taken care of by a quality company with a quality product and quality customer service. When a company does something like this I believe it pays off tenfold on whatever the cost of replacement was for Costa via word of mouth (as in this post) and also keeping and retaining brand loyal customers (which now you will be). Only thing I will say is if it was me Champ when filling out the reason for returning the glasses I would have lied and blamed the breakage/damage on my wife

Ya the split shot, mojo or small carolina rig that I used to throw on spinning gear I also didn't really mention as I have gotten away from it since Dave has introduced me to the Midwest Finesse Crack . But yes rigged up with a centipede or fish doctor is also very effective on TR.
-
You picked the wrong baits to tinker with for cheap then cause all of them you mentioned fetch a pretty penny these days. Even in somewhat rough shape.
-
I know. I am pretty deflated about it.
-
LOL. Agreed. Wholeheartedly. The Jika Rig I lump in with my wobble head. Just didn't mention it and probably should have.

Maybe Mike Anderson wasn't morally corrupt like both Haith and Snyder but he is still a total scumbag for the way he departed MU and left them hanging. I am not sorry to say it give me extreme pleasure to see Mike Anderson lose. But one thing I will not envy is watching his style of basketball. He calls it 40 minutes of hell.....more like 40 minutes of hell for the fans to watch. He will never be able to have a true big man at center when his teams are in better condition and do more running than the Razorback cross country team. Back to the subject at hand. As far at brands go it's really whatever you like or think you would have confidence in. My brother and I throw a lot of the same type of baits but he likes things that may be just a little different or a different brand. Jigs - Only 3 brands in my box are NuTech, BassX and Jewel. When I lose all the BassX and Jewel I will probably go exclusively to Nutech. Jig Trailer - small to medium profile I use 90% Netbait Paca Chunks. I like their profile, action, color selection and price. If I want to go big I throw a full size Zoom Brushhog on there. Topwater - Heddon/Excalibur Spit'n Image, Heddon Super Spook, Jackal Mikey Spinnerbait - War Eagle or Booyah. I like 1/2oz. Cranks - Shallow Crank - Strike King KVD Squarebills Mid Cranks - Wiggle Warts, Poe's Cedars Deep - Norman DD22s Wobble Heads - Swing Oil Baits Trailers - Missile Baits D-Bomb, Zoom Brush Hog Grubs - Kalins Senko Style Baits - Yum Dinger Big Worms - Zoom Ol' Monster, Culprit, YUM MightEE Worm Spoons - Mostly blanks I got from LurePartsOnline and completed the components myself and also War Eagle and Cotton Cordell Drop Shot Worms - Robo Worm or Chompers A-Rigs - KC School'em (from Ebay) - loaded with Storm Wild Eye shads that come pre-rigged with hooks Jerk Bait - SPRO McStick about 95% of the time. Have Rogues, LC Pointers, Rapala X Raps and Luck E Strike RC STX but they ride the pine. As far as colors I try to mimic whatever forage I am trying to impersonate with the bait. Jigs, soft plastics, bottom contact baits, etc I want to mimic crawdads so shades of browns and greens with hints of orange or purple at times. If trying to mimc shad or bluegill I will throw those types of color patterns (smokes, salt n pepper, sexy shad, chrome, pearl, etc) in grubs, swimbaits, cranks (except Wiggle Warts as they look like craws shooting along the bottom through the rocks), spoons, topwater, jerkbaits, etc.

Selecting Finesse Heads- The Elusive Ned/varmint Head
abkeenan replied to dtrs5kprs's topic in Table Rock Lake
Great video Dave. -
Yep. Will bring the Morton out in the boat with me to rub into my wounded thumbs. How dare you Dave! Just stay in the Ned Threads where you belong. I see a groundhog relocation program happening very soon in Lansing, KS. Big ones too. Huge.
-
I prefer my baits to suspend perfectly. McStick 110's new out of the box have always done that for me which is one of the reasons I like them so much. No tinkering, no screwing with them.....my kinda bait. They will suspend either level or nose down which I like. I also throw them on 10lb fluoro which sinks so depending on how long I pause they may sink slowly. Works for me.

I hope Kim Anderson works out. He is the first coach we've had since Stormin' Norman that has any moral fiber or ethics. Hopefully he can recruit some quality players within the next couple of years to get this program out of the dumps (where it is right now). Quin Snyder, Mike Anderson and Frank Haith were all morally corrupt in one way or another and it ended up hurting the program in the end with each hire. This year has been especially hard to watch and most nights it's a "moral" victory if we can scratch out 50 points or not get blown out by 20 or more. With my original post on suggestions I may have not been simplified enough. If I broke it down again to having half of that year round I would have: 1. Grubs with various jig head weights 1/8-1/2oz 2. Jigs from 3/8 - 3/4oz 3. Wiggle Wart 4. Jerk Bait 5. Senko style bait (can transform into Ned) 6. Wobble Head with craw type trailers I believe I could get by all year round with just those baits.

Nah. It's just that MIZZOU moved on to bigger and better things (SEC) and left you pathetic Jayhawk's in the dust toiling around in that joke of a conference the Big 12. Thus KU is irrelevant now. LOL. But seriously I do REALLY miss the MU vs KU basketball games. Even though we were on the losing end the overwhelming majority of the time they still were graet games. No problem offering some tidbits of what I've had success with on TR. Others have had success on other baits that I just never have or I haven't given a fair shake such as buzz baits, flukes, lipless cranks, blade/silver buddy baits and others I am leaving out. I am sure there are guys here that tear them up on stuff I didn't bother to mention. Sorry that you lost all your baits but at least you can now put together a bunch of baits that you know you will use instead of totting around 150lbs of fishing plastic like me. I better keep lifting weights in order to be able to carry all this crap to and from the dock/boat/house. I have the "just in case" syndrome where I have to have that bait in the boat "just in case".
-
I have more tackle than I could use in a lifetime. I probably only use about 20% of it. That being said if I was locked into having a dozen rods on the deck for the rest of my life on Table Rock they would consist of the follow baits: 1. Jig of your choice in various weights (I am partial to NuTechs now but whatever floats your boat) 2. Mid Crank Depth - Wiggle Warts and I also like old Poe's Cedars 3. Deep Cranks - DD22's, SK 6XD Rapala DT series, etc 4. Wobble Head with soft plastic of your choice (I like Missle Bait D-Bombs, Zoom Brushhogs, Big 10-12" worms) 5. Various Size Jigheads (1/8-1/2oz) for attaching/swimming grubs (Kalins 5" grub) or soft swim baits (3-6") 6. Spinnerbaits/Squarebills (same rod for me) - I like War Eagles and Booyah spinners and I like Strike King KVD squarebills 7. Topwater - walk the dogs, poppers and wakers - I like Spooks, Spit'n Images, Chug Bugs and Jackall Mikey's 8. A-Rig/Heavy Hard Swimbaits - Lures around 2oz or heavier (Get my bladed A-Rigs cheap off Ebay and rig them with Storm Wild Eye Swim Shad 3" attached) - SPRO BBZ's and R2S S-Waver 9. Jerk bait - I am partial to SPRO McSticks 10. Spoon - Both jigging style and flutter style in various sizes, weights and shapes (white or chrome are the colors I use) 11. Drop Shot or Finesse baits - I like Robo Worms from DS'ing and like Buckeye Spot Removers for Shakey Heads, Ned Rigs here also 12 - Specialty Rod/Bait that you have confidence in or maybe want to experiment with (this is my large hard swim baits rod personally) I realize that encompasses a lot but that is my list or baits I would want to have throughout the 4 seasons on the rock.
-
LOL. You crack me up.
-
Dude...what is that foul beast!? Groundhogzilla.
-
If we could just somehow manage to get killing and eating bass, pre rap wiggle warts, ned rig info and complaining about jet ski's into this thread pretty sure it is a lock to blind the groundhog from seeing his shadow and the winter will come to an abrupt end mid February. Who would have thought that seasonal weather patterns across the region depend on OAF discussions/arguments?
-
Was thinking the exact same thing. This thread is officially off the rails. I've always heard that if there truly was a nuclear war or apocalypse that cockroaches would most likely be the only things to survive. Don't know if that is truly sound science or not but I've heard that multiple times.

Oakley Big Bass Tour And Kvd Big Bass Schedule
abkeenan replied to OBBT Staff's topic in Table Rock Lake
