  1. Cool. Can you make them run water at Bull shoals dam next weekend? I'm heading down for our annual jerkbait fest and would really appreciate it. :-)
  2. I just checked the gauge and it is working.
  3. Bennet and Montauk are open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday during the C&R season.
  4. Seems to me that any of the heavily weighted flies using barbell eyes and coneheads are kind of like a jig fly. Granted, the hook eye is positioned incorrectly, but I suppose a guy could throw them on spinning tackle if they were so inclined. heck, I say tie some up and go throw it and see.
  5. Great service and prices. I'm a fan, and the wife never asks or complains!
  6. Nice video, really enjoyed it. Loved the skipping rocks part.
  7. Same here, need to log in on each visit.
  8. I like it when folks post photos of the outing not just the fish. It's kinda cool to see what everyone looks like and the places they fish. I really like the Meramec shots above. To me it's not about posting fish photos but photos of a good time you had.
  9. Here's his Vimeo page. Lots of videos and a brief bio. vimeo.com/richstrolis
  10. I think he's in the CT Area
  11. Congratulations!!!!! You will find it to be the hardest and most rewarding thing you will ever do in life. You will see the world in a different way with the arrival of that first child.
  12. Thanks for the info Gavin. It still is a great place to fish and enjoy the day. The nice part about the downturn in the fishing is that the pressure will probably come down, people stop going when it's not as productive as they expect it to be. That can only be good for the die-hards who stay with it in the long run.
  13. That's an opportunistic catfish! Cool video. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Hmmm...Do you think that maybe the Jig & Chunk works better in murky water because of the larger profile and moves more water (better vibration), and the tube is better in clear water because it is a little more streamlined (less vibration, more of a visual lure). Just wondering.

    Owls drink Pinot Noir?
  16. 89 years old and still able to wade fish! Your dad is awesome, I hope I can do the same someday. Great report and kudos to you for getting your dad away from work.
  17. I like the retractable dog lead idea. Very clever.
  18. looks like a flash to me, not a yard light.
  19. I couldn't resist getting out on the river Saturday with such beautiful weather. It was pretty windy at times with the canoe being blown upstream occasionally, but all in all a nice day, especially for November. As expected the Smallmouth fishing was down. Well, the fishing was great, the catching was slow! I did manage to coax a half dozen fish to hand with no real size to speak of but any fish to the boat is good for this late in the season. We only did 5 miles and I pretty much stuck to a jerkbait which accounted for all of my fish that day. We floated the 5 miles above Birds Nest which is probably a little high up on the river for this time of year, but couldn't find anyone else to shuttle us with the time of year and deer season open. I'm not sure how good opening day was for deer, I only heard one shot during the entire float. I have included a few river shots from the day. I think floating after the leaves are off the trees has a unique beauty to it and you get to see some things that are hidden during the warm months.
  20. Now you're getting to the basis of the whole issue (IMHO). I think there's probably plenty of money being brought into our government and state coffers it's just the dispersement is a little questionable. If we could have some sensible decisions being made maybe we could control this whole crazy financial mess. I never understood the country running in deficit. Don't spend it if ya don't have it. If you get behind tighten your belt and pay it off. Unpleasant, yes, but it's the way it has to be.

    Score!

That's a nice rack. Looks like you have it caped out to be mounted. That will make a nice trophy.
  22. Franklin's passing was way, way off. They should of had more points on the board. They played a tough team and showed they can hang with these schools.
  23. Well done. Nice fish. Love the tail pic!
  24. Nice fish. Looking at the water line in front of Gaston's it looks like some generation was going on at the dam. Were they running much water while you were there?
  25. Well, skipping the Smallie fishing until spring is a product of fish location. We now move into a time of year that is more productive for the guys with a jet boat that can move around to their secret Winter spots. Not a good time for the canoe. But, if a fellow fisherman with a jet boat wants to take a guy out on the water i'm your guy. Heck, I will take care of gas, lunch and beverages. Anyone? anyone?...Scott?, Mitch?, anyone?
