  1. I figure if that new strain can survive "A" rigs, frog gigs, throw nets, treble hooks, power bait, and gun shots until spring time, they will survive the warm water just fine.
  2. That's them
  3. We can call them the St. Louis strain or the Mississippi strain
  4. Another wild trout population getting started. Next year they won't have to stock.
  5. Hey, did you make it over to Spring River this fall?
  6. Hello to you and Pat
  7. On the 23rd our kids informed us that due to uptakes in the virus cases that they would be staying put for thanksgiving. We agreed. Sooo! Sandy and I decided that we would spend turkey day with some trout. We had such a good time that we extended our visit to the following day. Fishing was a little on the slow side Thursday until the sun went over the ridge. At which time we caught fish until dark. Out early the next morning and guess what I found, 3 holdover browns on a cruise pattern. They were cruising an area that I call "Brown Boulevard". While the wife was catching some nice rainbows, I set up camp on that stretch of creek. At the end of six hours I had caught 2 of the browns and 1 lunker rainbow. In the meantime Sandy had caught several colored up fish in the 2 to 2.5 range. Hard fighters, jumpers, everyone. No stress or fatigue present. Only got 1 picture of a 4.4lb brown, but having trouble retrieving it. I kept watching for Pete to boat up to the cable. Didn't know what type of boat to look for, but thought I might recognize him from a picture on OAF. We allowed not to stay and fish today because of the crowds that we encountered yesterday. Sandy had some really rude water hogs move in on her about 11 am. 5 people were trying to fish the same 8 foot of water that she had been fishing all morning. When I saw what was happening I waded out and stood in the area that they were casting to. 3 left after about 10 minutes and one kept saying to his buddy that he was going to hook a 150 pounder. He never got brave enough to do it. I waded out and the remaining two started respecting her space . I usually don't do things like that, but at some point you have to make the point. I never said a word the whole time I was standing there. We had a good time and caught several fish. Looking forward to the next outing.
  8. It is like an addiction fw, it seems like sometimes we love the abuse and can't wait to do it again.
  9. Thanks for the report Pete those are some nice fish. Any day on the water is a gift no matter how tuff or how good the fishing was.
  10. I thought you were headed out to go fish.
  11. Looking for a fishing report Pete.
  12. Congrats to her on that first deer. I am sure it was ever more special being with her Dad, and knowing that it is forever special for you.
  13. What's going on at outlet 3?
  14. Good luck Pete
  15. Prayers sent oneshot
  16. Trout Dale used to have a few of these back in the 70's. Don't even know if they are still in business or if that area has turned into a condo. Back before winter season in the trout parks, I would fish the creek running out of the hatchery in hopes of catching an escapee. Found lots of rainbows but no goldens. In later years I have caught goldens, {muts} at a private trout place.
  17. The fish with the different markings looks as if it could be an emerson strain from crystal lake hatchery.
  18. Will this be a new addition to missouri trout parks Devan?
  19. The hamburger stuck again today for Sandy. She had this brown and also a nice rainbow around 3.5lbs
  20. When you fish for a lunker sometimes it's like pulling up and looking at a fast food menu. The first thing you show them is the hamburger {gray scud}. Then you show them the worst possible remaining menu items. Mega worm in blue, egg sucking leech, cub cadet, allis chalmer, and a thread jig with a purple head. Then you go back to the hamburger that now looks like the best thing on the menu.
  21. You got that right fw, I specialize in them dumb fish. Always have. I save the smart ones for other people.
  22. Returned on the 9th and found this lone hold out. Fished for him off and on through out the day with little success. I would fish him a few minutes at a time, walk away , then returned a little later with a different menu item. He pretty much laid up on the same stretch of bank for about 4 hours before succumbing to the infamous gray scud. In the meantime my wife caught several nice rainbows in full spawn color.
  23. The wife and I fished thursday and friday after the big flood. Browns are pretty much gone. Don't know if the flood waters washed them into bull shoals lake or they just headed east for the winter. Caught several small rainbows and the wife hooked up with what appeared to be a little smallmouth. I spent two days running the bank to come up with 2 fish in the 3.5 lb range. Pretty slim pickings for early november.
