  1. Good for you Alex. You will spend a lifetime learning, and learning to love this sport. Each new day can be just a little more exciting than the day before. Each new fish a little more special than the one before. And the ones that get away or the ones that are impossible to fool, are the most special of all. A lifetime of memories will await us all.
  2. Thanks for keeping us informed with reliable info Phil. Some of the new comers and out of staters on facebook, fly fish taneycomo, are rippin mdc for not being in better control of mother nature.
  3. It is the 3 dollar word for a one dollar fly. And before that they were simply fur bugs with a haircut.
  4. I ain't scared
  5. Thank you Duane. And my thanks to you and the others as well.
  6. Going back to what Pete and Phil said about limited wading, a few years back we were all discussing MF, and it seems like the numbers they gave us came to about 16 more inches of water we would have to wade with MF. That would make it about 702.5 at low water. Wadable to some extent but a terrible level to hold many fish in close to the banks. With the filling in over the years, there is nothing to offer or hold fish above the rebar. Only spawn time and heavy generation seem to bring fish up in any numbers. With 02 injection at 4 and not 6. what the heck. Who's bright idea was that?
  7. And what happens when they come over TRD during a flood gate event? We will be fly fishing for well fed, huge stripers, like at ten killer. Might be exciting until we run out of trout.
  8. Its too bad this new program does not have a dislike button.
  9. it used to do that, now it just says "somebody"
  10. When someone hits the "like button" on a response, how can you find out who it is?
  11. friday the what? this or next
  12. Hello mic, in the early 2000's there were no problems in the park. Actually from the 60's , all the way up to the time of MM, fishing was as good as it gets. We did not realize how good it was until we lost it. And the take home limit thing had always been 5 up until MM. First they tried a voluntary 4 fish limit, to buy time. Then it was a mandatory 4 fish, to buy more time. Next it was a new hatchery, which bought them a couple of years. After the new hatchery was in operation for a couple of years and things were still on the decline, MM ran out of time. Now we have a new guy and just in a couple of months I have seen good things happening. More fish and better fish. Maybe a few lunkers this winter. Time will tell.
  13. This is a real good start.
  14. What a clever idea.
  15. Are you saying that no trout permit is required to fish a stocked area in the urban program?
  16. Since about 08 there have been a couple of handfuls show up during and after flood gate events. Leonard landed one about 60 lbs one night. Saw another high and dry in a tree. With the warm water now they are probably on the prowl above the boat ramp.
  17. Sedalia usually gets the first batch but the water cant be 70 degrees. They might die..
  18. If there were alot of fry in the water, they would be eaten mostly by trout. Normally the water would be too cold for other predators in large numbers. A perch in trout water should be wary of being a meal himself.
  19. About 99% of missouri's fishable trout population comes from the hatchery. The process they use to produce the triploid would be done during the normal and annual spawning process they do in the hatchery. I don't suspect that the trout would be in danger from predators, but they may be like the original german strain, and too easy to catch. This fish grows large, and could possibly bring some 40 pound fish to lake taneycomo. I would like to see this in my lifetime.
  20. Your welcome DF, thought maybe you just wanted something different. Sage rods are my rod of choice as well, I currently have 4 and have enjoyed each one. My first one from the 80's is still a great rod.
  21. i will trade you a 490 zaxis and a 790 xp for your outfit.
  22. Thanks Phil for reinstating the spa schedules.
  23. I guess I will be in violation because I refuse to carry my phone when wading. Most areas I fish have no signal to retrieve information anyway.
  24. Thanks, i depend on that schedule to get a general idea of what to expect on the days I fish.
  25. Am I overlooking the spa schedules?
