  1. Loner, never cared for adjusting to someone else's schedule. You are welcome to come along, just meet me on the creek. A scedule can get in the way of catching a big fish.
  2. About 2 inches of sleet at loz. Looks like another possible go round from rocky on monday.
  3. A fashion statement for sure JD.
  4.     AS I recall you tie one similar for the nfow.
  5. I will reject my comment, it looked as if you were poaching on Phil
  6. Started about five thirty at the lake. Rain, sleet, not so much snow as yet, and more sleet. Probably a half inch of sleet on the ground, and the wind blowing hard at times. We also have some thunder and lightning at times. KC is getting hit hard. Watching the weather channel, it shows pretty much a white out at most times. five to six inches of snow downtown.
  7. u paid for this ad spot no doubt
  8. Thanks for addressing this Phil. I made a comment over a year ago about how people "used" to talk about fishing. As for a report, caught six crappie in two trips to the dock at loz. Could care less what happened to the eagles or the blackhawks or the cardinals. They use to joke and rib and have a good time.
  9. One thing about carp Wayne, if you can get them coming into bait, they will bite. So don't give up on that fly rod. You need to bait up an area that you can cast to. Do it in the evening and return the next morning. Put out more bait as you fish. If you can keep baiting the same area for a few days at at time. They will come in pretty quick. Corn will stay on the bottom until it is carried off, whereas dog food will disolve over night. Frequent baiting is the key to keeping them active. Get out there and get one on the fly.
  10. Sounds like a good time. It would be great to see some of the old timers again. Wish I could make it. Give us a report.
  11. Mostly I fish over bait, and the best attractor I have found is dog food. It not only attracts carp, but buffalo and catfish to boot. You would think that the best fly would be one that looks like dog food. Not the case, my best fly is a white body with pronounced red head. It looks like the plastic grub worm you buy in the park store. Second best is a pearl color tied like the white and red grub fly. They work best on a #10 hook. I have even caught them on white 1/80oz maribo jigs. Largest carp to date is an 18lber, and largest buffalo is 22. Largest catfish is only 6 lb. By far the carp are the hardest fighting, longest running, and fastest out of the hole. The buffalo are the hardest to land, it takes a long time to wear a big one down. I like to put the bait in 4 to 5 foot of water as to be able to sight fish. It is not unusual to have 8 or 10 fish at a time.
  12. Are we labeling all wildlife or just wildlife given? I do not understand that paragraph.
  13.     A good time indeed Buzz, I would imagine that your group has a great time at ollie fest.
  14.     I would guess that you could not replace them in the same day.
  15. LOL I kinda figured that your presence might be a given.
  16. A very good article indeed. In this article, it talks about having your possession limit at the cabin or the resort where you are staying. I am guessing that keeping them in a livewell on the dock would be in violation. I am talking about being on a 15 per day lake, and you having 60 in the livewell on going home day.
  17. Thanks for the response buzz and ollie. It's not about the fishing, its about meeting up with a group of good friends that I only get to see about 2 times a year. Opening day at RR is a tradition that they have done for years. Its kind of like your ollie fest.
  18.     Looking forward to seeing you and MC. Bring brother dave and your dad along.
  19. You would have to pick a spot for coffee or a cold drink at a pre determined time. Are you coming Wayne? Opening day is entertaining to say the least.
  20. I am meeting up with some very good friends, and OAF members, on opening day. We will be staying through day 2. I am curious as to who else might be planning the same trip. Murdoc, Ducky, any other OAF guys? Lots of you southwest boys are fairly close by. It would be great to meet up and say "hey".
  21. Take away the extended arm, and move the camera back, I would guess 4lb 3oz. A super nice catch.
  22. I use the WPS for my trout fishing, and the WDS for moon phases.
  23. The name you are looking for is "brassie". As for the fur bugs, I used a 7948A mustad hook. It was stonger and had a wider gap. Caught many a lunker on that possum fur bug.
  24. A white river brown, they have a look all their own. Long and lean and every young mans dream. You can pick one out of a crowd. A very nice fish LRF.
  25. so you can use bait or whatever, right outside the park boundries?
