  1. This is funny. I asked this same question about 2 years ago, and Drew was quick to inform me that indeed they do.
  2. Thats a pretty big holdover from only a year. I was hoping to see your name at the bottom of this topic, Drew.
  3. Congrats to Jay, a good looking fish for sure. I am surprised that kansas grows them that large. It is quite a thrill to land a record fish.
  4. The bass actually spawn after the crappie. Like "Just Fishin" reported, catching them on bedded docks. Find some crappie in that kind of cover, and you will catch them there for the next month or so.
  5. A bit of trivial record history. This state record fish was caught by the late Gene Snellings near bridal cave. I think it weighed in at 41.5 lbs, and I also think it was caught on a wiggle wart. The mount was displayed at Van Hooks bait shop on north 5, and may still be there.
  6. You can take this info to the bank.
  7. That is a great looking current river brown.
  8. Great fish Duane. Hey what happened to the RR report?
  9. This makes the most sense of anything I have heard so far. But I am positive that some will get their back against the wall and not want to agree with you.
  10. We already knew that answer. Where the heck is that fishing report and those photo's .
  11. With all the advanced notice and the news media telling us about the new regs, should'nt be any accidental felt wearer. Wonder how many left their "waders' at home on opening morning? Just plead not guilty to any questions asked.
  12. I hear its a felony to even have them inside your vehicle once you enter the state park boundaries. Has anyone ever clarified that. It says no felt allowed at bssp.
  13. I am not surprised. These methods have been around for a lot longer than any modern day bass equipment and should be preserved as a true ozark heritage. It does not appear that bass populations have suffered any. I see numerous reports of 17 to 20 plus inch smallmouth being caught. Throw in those dreaded spots, river otters, and blue heron, and you guys still continue to catch huge smallmouth.
  14. It is close enough to snagging season that we may as well address this senseless and brutal form of sport fishing as well. Look at the countless smallmouth that are malicously earmarked because of someones careless use of snagging equipment. Put 4 clowns in a poontoon boat dragging thousand lb snagging line down the lake and nothing in its path is safe. Smallmouth , turtles, hogmollies and trotlines all suffer at the expense of snagging. Gigging and snagging should forever be banned from the folklore of the ozarks.
  15. Would that pertain to what you wear, or the people standing in the water?
  16. You should bring them on that weekend, it will save each person several dollars in out of state fees.
  17. The parking lot will be full of ok and ark tags. lol I have made that mistake before.
  18. them guys were probably frog huntin.
  19. The person in charge of lying to everyone.
  20. I fished the shallow water dock this afternoon. 5 mile marker on the niangua. Front of the dock in 12 feet with the back at 15. Used a weedless jig, dropping into the brush. They were taking on the first crank up. Shallow water fishing is slow, but starting to improve from last week.
  21. The whites and hybrids are plentiful at loz this year. This past october, I saw schools breaking the suface that would cover 2 to 3 acres at a time. Kdan and I witnessed that on several occasions. One evening in particular, they stretched from owens point almost across the lake to knotty pine. Hundreds of feet wide out to about a quarter mile. Couldn't see what was happening past that point. No shortage here. I would say that FW could keep 7 this year and not hurt the spawning population.
  22. There just might be some of those 200 lunkers over 8 lbs left at that point. J R has claimed thats what they turn loose every opener since about 2004.
  23. My choice of water would be "any" trout water in misssouri or arkansas. Fly selection would be a grey sowbug and a tan sowbug, both on a size 14- 2487. If I had to throw a streamer in the mix, it would be leonard's hibernator, olive and black. My total fly box only consists of 4 different patterns.
  24. happy birthday duane, i will try to make in time for the cake that phil is bringing
  25. Ha lol. Hi TC, I am surprised you have not encountered Al down at taney. With his english accent and his hillbilly look, you will know him immediately. Hi Al, hope you are watching this thread. He ties the best pellet {purina} fly around.
