  1. I hope you get to make that trip Gavin, they have some "huge" browns there. I passed on a trip in 06, couldn't justify spending the 7 grand. Those dams will have some kind of impact, but I am not sure if it would be good or bad for the sea runs. They surely would do some type of fish ladder like they do for salmon. Who knows, they may plan to stock seaforellens in the lakes.
  2. I will bet that you are just waiting for the first one to fall into the river. I would like to be there when that happens. Keep us posted.
  3. I'm not hearing any singing yet. They just came out of the ground last night, so I don't know how long that process takes. There are literally hundreds just in my back yard. I was out on the east side of the lake this morning and saw zero just 20 miles away.
  4. After a huge rain overnight, at LOZ, the cicadas are everwhere. The rain must have driven them out of the ground. They are in every stage of hatching this morning. The ones already hatched, are about 1.5 inches long and brown and black in color. Get ready for some flyrodding fun. Has anyone noticed them in branson?
  5. It's their mating season Leonard. Plus, you remember the last time we had high water, they lurk along the banks and come in behind you. Don't be tying any beaver fur streamers, or you will have that musk scent all over you.
  6. East or west? Which is the most productive?
  7. You best hope that she does not read this post.
  8. I must have missed that one Pete. It makes sense that they would have a deep water supply and not be at the mercy of the surface water temps. Thanks.
  9. Hey Brian, I was wondering about the water temp on the upper lake. Do you have any way of checking surface water temps? Also, I was wondering where the hatchery's water supply comes from. Are they affected by surface water temps from the flood gates?
  10. Sorry to hear about all your damage JD.
  11. After the flood gates, don't be surprised if the water level stays between 710 to 713 for most if not all of the summer.
  12. I wish you and everyone else the best. Floods are nothing to take for granted.

    Great Day!

Man that's just hard to beat Gavin. Hope the remainder of your trip goes as well or better than today. Keep us posted.
  14. Thanks Leonard. I guess some things never change. I will catch up with you some night in the future.
  15. The schedule shows water off tonight at midnight untill midnight tomorrow. Can we take that to the bank Phil or Leonard?

    Hey All

How far south of loz? If you fish the banks, 5 to 15 feet in depth, you just might catch anything. Don't know if you are flyrodding or otherwise, but now is a good time to do either. Unweighted sculpins, huge wooly worms, and wooly buggers, will catch anything that swims. With the exception of paddlefish of course. All fish are spawning, cruising, and feeding at those depths. Flatheads will be on the rocky points pre staging for spawn. Give us a report and good luck.
  17. It will help spawn a new breed of gut feeders at crane. Naturally reproducing "gut feeders".
  18. I agree with wrench and mocarp on this one. It is perfectly legal to use a throw net and gather shad for bait. Why not share them with a buddy. I have seen nothing that indicates otherwise. I would say that if the gentleman from texas, or the person who supplies the shad, has a missouri fishing permit, then he could transport them across state lines with head and tail intact. I catch fish in arkansas and haul them back to missouri for personal use, why not shad?
  19. I caught a limit on the fly rod in the same depths of water. Caught males and females alike, this is going to be their spawn depth.
  20. Thanks for the report Chance. I will be looking forward to the photo's as well. Old age and a hip injury does not allow me to fish it like I did in years past. It remains one of my favorite creeks of all time.
  21. Not "consistent" but more like an average. 31 in the past 35 years. I have never been a picture taker, so most, will be of the dead fish. Yes I said dead. My original post was a slam to bssp about their average size fish. 8 to 15 pound fish use to be common at bssp in 70's and 80's. Now, it's a rare occasion. Since 04, the average fish size has shrunk, and lunkers are earned, not just caught like they were in 70's.
  22. Can't help with the trailer, but it is good to see you back.
  23. They weighed less than 10 pounds apiece.
  24. I fished the park this morning. Water appears to be up at least a foot, but still green, with visibility about 2.5 feet. I caught several fish but all were under 10 pounds. I couldn't tell if the creek was rising or falling from the additional rain overnight. Crowds were light for a weekend.
  25. Well happy birthday Roland. I had the privlidge of meeting Roland and Phil, late one night, on the creek. Roland apologized for his hand being wet because he had just released a good fish.
