  1. Porter Wagner must have lived close to there.
  2. Well said there SRJ, and glad you said it. I am not a bass fisherman, but that is not the issue here. Representing the future of the sport is the same in all types of fishing. I am a trout fisherman, and we have this saying. "It is all about the chase and how you play the game." Catching fish, and enjoying the outdoors is a secondary bonus.
  3. Did it lower the lake level when they landed those monster crappie?

    Finally!

Nice, I am ready for some warm water fly roddin as well.
  5. Slushy and snowy here at loz. I should have cut down my persimmon tree at the lake. It was predicting a long winter. That sucker will be crappie brush next year, along with a dead groundhog.

    Fishing Trip

You did well Don, good to hear from you.
  7. Well here is the best way I can explain it. Some of the names have been changed to protect the innocent. Bill's dad, Sam, married Amy Fuller. Amy has a brother named Robert. Robert marries Sarah, who is Sam's sister. Both couples have one son, Craig and Bill. That would make them double cousins and each having the same set of grandparents, who names I do not recall. All I can remember about the grandparents is, one set of the grandparents lived on the south side of Evening Shade, Mo., the other lived on the north side, and they were next door neighbors.
  8. He is a double cousin of Bill Clemens.
  9. All of the outfalls are in zone 2. But as Wayne stated, it can be crowded and is, more than not. I was there yesterday, a weekday, and I counted nine people within a half a rod length of each other at the outlet above the whistle bridge. Hundreds of 8,9, and 10 inch fish. I looked over the rail at the stone bridge and discovered even more fish in the 6 inch range. A pitiful site indeed. Visited with Corky H. and Mike R. and didn't even wet a line. The wife and I walked from the spring to the whistle bridge and then back again. It was most enjoyable to just relax and visit with old friends.
  10. Well I fished yesterday but did not even get a bite. Watched a lot of dead shad float by. Since I did not catch I did not report. I suppose people want to see the no shows along with the great catches. Fished the 5 mm of the big N. Had 2 buddies fish up the glaize yesterday with no bites. Warmest water temp they found was 41 at pb one.
  11. OH boy, here we go again, I think Bill Clemens said it best, but I just can't recall what exactly he said. Had something to do with, well, I don't recall.
  12. The head of that fish says "german" and not "sheepcreek". Is mdc raising or buying the triploids?
  13. triploid. The fish of the future for t-como. Long and lean.
  14. I forgot to add that it does not matter if it was snagged by accident or otherwise with intent. Immediate means before pictures, before weighing or measuring, and certainly before hauling it back to a tournament weigh in. That director was as much at fault as the snagger. They should both have their fishing permits withdrawn for 5 years like other criminals.
  15. It "is" illegal. The code says you "must" return it to the water immediately.
  16. Your dad is a prime example of our heritage. A well respected citizen in the community, a great father figure, and one of many military veterans who helped to maintain our freedoms we so much enjoy today. Sorry for your loss Al.
  17. Apparently snagging a game fish is not against the law, but anything other than the immediate release of the fish is. Illegal would include posing for pictures, or weighing or measuring. I am sure Wayne can recall the days of the fish being kept, no matter what part of the body the hook was located. Some of that still goes on today, but not so much as days gone by. My favorite story is one that Micheal Kyle tells. A 17lb brown was snagged and kept and the story was told to MK. When MK informed the guy about snagging being a violation, the guy quickly replied, "is it illegal even if its a state record ?"
  18. WEll thanks and sorry we missed it. I let that dang ole winter storm scare me out. It is indeed nice to fish with good friends. As the weather warms, we will try and get together for a fish day. Take care.
  19. Very good report with pictures. Thank you for taking time to share with us.
  20. Wow, thx for the picture Phil. 2 things that I have never witnessed at taneycomo,is ice or muddy water at the upper end.
  21. Chupacabra, big foot, yeti, and loch ness. I think global warming can be added to this list as well.
  22. Well glad you all caught some of them 200 lunkers that was out there running around. Seems as if most were disguised as 17 and 18 inch fish. That could be why you overlooked them. But I guess the parks now consider an 18 inch stocker fish to be of lunker status, and are willing to give out a patch saying "that is so". With only a 4.5 lb fish on the board for "big fish", RR is in a sad state of affair, as is the other parks. The have farmed so many "real lunker fish" out to the urban environment, that they can no longer even maintain a tradition. Sad indeed. Opening day in st Louis looks better each season. Glad you all had an enjoyable trip Jeff.
  23. Likewise, them 10 inch smallmouth fry up just like crappie. 20 or 30 of them make quite a meal.
