  1. Hey good luck on that quest. If one of the 52 include a trout of midget proportions, look no further than bssp.
  2. I have pvc and brush. One nice thing about pvc, you do not need weights to sink it. Brush seems to be better day in and day out. Roughing it up is probably a good idea. It took a couple of years for algea to stick on the slick pvc.
  3. 3.5 earthquake in Kansas over the weekend
  4. Dang, I was kinda hoping to trade with you BH. Wettinline has contacted me twice about selling my brown trout, but I really had my heart set on that norway rat. Glad to hear that snooker is ok. My buddy Harv caught a big old drum while we were crappie fishing yesterday. We always throw them drum up on the bank for the buzzards to eat on. I got to thinkin that maybe, if I can get back to it quick enough, that I will cut the fins and tail off of it, and glue them on my brown trout. If It had fins and a tail, I think someone would pay top dollar for it.
  5. My very best congratulations to Mark Reed. I indeed hope it was a holdover fish and not an implant. But in any case does not take away from the accomplishment of Mr. Reed. Hooking and landing a fish of that size is a major feat in itself, in addition to breaking this long standing record. Implanting a record fish to an urban lake, would be a major insult to all of the long time ok trout anglers, plus a black eye for its conservation department. It would be like mdc taking a 20lb rainbow to jackson, mo. urban lake.
  6. In an earlier thread i mentioned that charlie had told me larry was not going to open his doors next season.
  7. not me Wayne, I just spent the last hour and a half on the dock with only one short to show for ii.
  8. Out west of prairie hollow, they call that dinner. Any fish caught is an added bonus.
  9. Old plug, you may be on to something with that daylight thing. Saturday I caught about 7 fish and only one keeper. Sunday I caught maybe 6 with one keeper. The total for tues and wed was about 20 with 17 keepers. Most of those were blacks. Add cornbread and fried tators, I think I got a fish fry in the works.
  10. I am thinking seriously about trying to trade my brown trout for that Norway rat. If I put that in my shed he might very well scare off the squirrels.
  11. I heard they installed trail cams upstream from the access.
  12. better hurry winter season is dang near over.
  13. Well smalliebigs, first off, wow. I have always fished for the smallmouth in winter, but like I said, wow. Never caught more than about 8 in one day. As far as the trout park mentallity, you nailed it. Myself and several other on here are "trout park" fishermen. We have watched, over the years, people bring their everday, roadrage, black friday, I paid my three bucks attitude with them. Parks used to be a respectable place as many on here can recall. Somewhere in the late 80's, everything wth. I guess I have just learned to put up with it. A great catch from you and your buddy. thanks for sharing.
  14. That is a really nice black crappie WF. fishing is about the same 8 miles down. Spotty to say the least. I have spent all of this week just to catch a single days limit of fish. shad seem to be staying in deeper water. If you watch the seagulls, they seldom leave the channel. Usually by this time of year, I have caught crappie and white bass by the limits. Little to no white bass activity this fall, at least in my area of the big N.
  15. maribou jigs probably work as good or better than soft stuff. You might as well go ahead and go.
  16. special regs for winter time. soft stuff will get you 10 dollars or 10 days in laclede county jail. But, on a side note, it will catch you alot of fish.
  17. 29 degrees and holdin here at the lake this am. The crappie and white bass are chasin the shad into the shallows and beaching themselves like whales. The cold air temps are freezing them where they lay. You should be able to pick them up by the five gallon bucket full. Is there a limit on beached crappie?
  18. For sale or trade a 38.5 inch brown trout. It is not in that good of shape. Been in the shed since 05 and the mice or squirrels have chewed off the fins and most of the tail. Also the wife accidently ran the weed eater across it as she was starting it. Would sell cheap or trade for a squirrel trap.
  19. Met up with some good friends at msp for two days of fishing. Crowds were light probably due to deer season opener. Fishing was a little on the tuff side due to a somewhat small number of stream fish. I think possibly we are seeing the effects of the urban program on our full time waters. All of the big fish we found were regulars and mostly with the lip and mouth disease. That is tight lipped and mostly kept their mouths shut. Harv hooked up with one just long enough to get excited and then the hook just pulled out for no good reason. JT landed one on friday and I caught what appeared to be the same fish on saturday. I had a great time fishing with old friends and ready for a return trip, maybe to some urban lake where there are bigger numbers of fish. My thanks to Harv and JT. Looking forward to doing it again.
  20. Howdy all, looking to buy or trade for an iver johnson 22 revolver. 844 top break is what I would like to find. It needs to be a good shooter in good shape. I have cash or I have winchester and remington shot guns to trade. message me with what you might part with. thanks
  21. And again thanks to you and all of the others. Rick Osborn USN security communications 1968 - 1972
  22. with all this hype about rivers and wild fish, i think you all must somewhere be related to daniel boone. lol. the smallmouth fish must most definately be missouri's official "state fish" of record.. with all it's popularity, it was surely voted number one.
  23. chunky chunky chunky, nice fish buzz.
  24. cant hardly wait for part two.
  25. caught my first 6 inch trout a few months back. It was at bssp.
