  1. We have been catching lots of drum. The occasional walleye, big carp, and a spoonbill or 2 at the pothole on jigging spoons.
  2. That's great to know. Thanks!
  3. We were there last weekend. We ran to the dam and caught them on blade baits. Cast it out. Let it fall to the bottom. Jerk it up 2-3' let it settle back down jerk it up again and get bit.
  4. That's sounds like a really fun day of catching. How were you catching the carp?
  5. Glad you figured out a way to stay on em! Thanks for the report.
  6. We got 6 keepers from 5:00-7:30 in 20-30 FOW near standing timber. The fish were suspended at 12'-18'. Caught about as many shorts. Couldn't get more than 2 fish off of a spot. White shadpole with chartreuse tail tipped with a minnow and plain ole minnow on a hook, slow drifted, or reeled though the fish we marked on the graph. We didn't try any other colors maybe we should have. Other people I talked to were doing about as well as we were.
  7. Thanks for the report. I have some sliders in that color but have never used them. Looks like it's time to try them out.
  8. I had a buddy that fished the Kenai River in Alaska about 13 years ago. He told stories about walking out the front door of the cabin down to the river and catching 5# salmon (I don't remember the kind) till his arms were sore. They hired a guide with a boat and fished for Kings also. He ended up with a 50# King. They brought back so much meat that they had to buy a small deep freezer. We are alot of grilled salmon with them and it was pretty awesome. I've wanted to go try the Kenai ever since.
  9. This is where you want to go for the fried chicken. They broast it. It's some of the best around. Really great food and drinks.
  10. Well it's not a huge walleye but it is my son's first walleye. He caught it on a silver 1/4oz jigging spoon.
  11. Sounds like a great time. I'm looking forward to getting back there this year.
  12. We were getting a few yellow perch in 23' of water, next to a mud flat. We caught them right on the bottom dragging a simple split shot rig with a whole night crawler. I'm guessing the bottom wasn't very rocky since we didn't get hung up a whole lot.
  13. That is a very nice yellow perch. Anything over 8" is big for BS in my experience. We caught 8 of them last week and only one of them was over 8". We were bottom bouncing night crawlers for walleye and big bluegill.
  14. Thanks for the report.
  15. Appreciate that report.
  16. That's a nice mess of fish carpslayer!

@SPOONMINNOW Spoon turtle? That's intriguing. How do you work it?
  18. Thanks for the heads up FFM . They were out of stock at RK but I found them on Amazon, shipped for $56. I have a CV pair on the way.
  19. We started fishing around 8:00 am Friday morning. We trolled deep cranks in yellow perch and silver/black. We ended up with 9 short walleye. We had 4 worth measuring but they all fell short. We did find spots and LMB chasing shad on the surface so we started throwing spoons at them and tore them up! It was on like Donkey Kong for about 2 hours doing that which made for a real fun day.
  20. Nice job on the 20"s. We fished BS yesterday trolling deep cranks resulting in 9 short walleye. We had 4 that were worth measuring but they all fell short of the magical 18" mark.
  21. Hey guys we are floating Greer to Whitten tomorrow. I've never floated the eleven point or fished for trout anywhere but Taneycomo. Although I do alot of float fishing for smallmouth. I'm looking for suggestions on what lures we should be throwing for trout. It's going to be me and the kids in kayaks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Thanks for the replies. Report: My 5 sons and I camped last night at Greer Crossing. My boys range in age from 22 to 12 years old. Just being with all my boys made it a pretty awesome trip for me, and we caught fish to boot! The camp grounds at Greer Crossing are primitive, well maintained, and secluded. We met the campground host Steve on Friday night and had a nice chat with him, he's a real nice, helpful fella. Brian at Eleven Point canoe rental shuttled our vehicles for us. After breaking camp and getting everyone rigged up we hit the water at Greer Crossing around 8:30. We started throwing jigs, rooster tails, small rebels, and small crank baits that dive to about 6' like a small Flickr shad or a bomber A4. We quickly learned that the rebels in blue/silver and the crank baits in black/silver and baby bass were catching the fish. Between the trees on the bank and the trees in the water my supply of those baits is now depleted. The trout were holding in the same places that you'd find smallmouth on a river, in the deeper pools at the ends of a riffle, around current breaks and in and amongst bluff edges with current and chunk rock. We were all catching fish, and it was a hoot! The majority of the fish were caught in the blue ribbon water from Greer to Turners Mill. It took us about 3 hours to fish that stretch of water. If I were to do a short one day float again I'd focus on that stretch alone, fish it hard and take out at Turners Mill. Once you pass Turners your allowed to use soft plastics so we broke out the Ned rigs since I've been catching alot of river smallies on them. We used 1/8 and 1/16 oz round unpainted jig heads with a wire weed guard on them, the 1/16 oz were preffered since it allowed for less hang ups. The color didn't seem to matter much as long as it had some green pumpkin or white to it. All the fish that we caught from Greer to Whitten came on the Ned or the rebel including a 16" rainbow. That section of the river looks alot like the James river that we are used to fishing except the water is colder and your catching trout instead of smallmouth. It rained heavily on us for about the last hour of the float and we took out at Whitten at about 5:00. The final tally was 54 fish, the largest 2 were 16" rainbows caught by two of my sons. We caught 2 smallmouth, 2 Goggle eye, 1 sucker, 1 chain pickerel, and 1 sculpin with the rest being rainbows and browns. It was a really nice trip with the boys, laughing, fishing and enjoying each other. Worth the 2.5 hour drive from Ozark. I'm already looking forward to doing it again.
  22. We just got kayaks and I'm really interested in this event but can't seem to figure out how it works. I tried looking at the Facebook page for info and found some (I'm not great at Facebook) but I can't figure out the details IE:How does the weigh in work, do you post a pic of the fish on the measuring trough to Facebook as you go? Or send pics somewhere at the end? What's the payout? etc. Any info that y'all have would be great.
  23. I found that crazy sunfish in small mouth clothing on MDC's website it's called a warmouth.
  24. Makes me feel a little better that at least we weren't the only ones that didn't get a limit or even close. I fished with my brother and son on Tuesday of this week around Bridgeport. We managed 5 keepers and what looks like a cross between a small mouth, a goggle eye, and a green sunfish I've never seen one quite like it. Fished with my dad today and only got 4 keepers. The fish were everywhere from 6 to 15 fow suspended caught them on 1/16 and 1/8 oz white/chart. Same story as everyone else I guess. And yes, loads of boats out today.
