  1. From Cherrywoods to NRXs all in stock rods are 20% off. I think it lasts until 12-17. At Denny Dennis in Fenton, thought this might interest St. Louis area guys.
  2. Thanks Norm As they would say in the south, "well bless your heart"
  3. Sounds great Norm. Hope your health is doing well.
  4. Hey Norm, that feeder creek you mentioned. If it is cooler in the summer is it warmer in the winter? I have had very little winter time success. We know that down here fish can be caught around the larger springs because of the temperature influence. Just curious about your area.
  5. Norm, hope the win by the Cubbies helps you over come your recent health issues. I kind of view it as a reward for all the long time Cubs fans, who have been loyal for all these years. I also hope the Cardinals bury them next year.
  6. I was in Crawford county this morning and did not see any hybrids. Oh well it was great weather to be out.
  7. Scott, should have went with you on Wednesday. They not only convinced me no top water, they didn't bite period. Whenever you and Aaron can go I am game. Would love to try some hybrids on the river anytime.
  8. I have always admired the way Cubs fans supported their team even with all the losings seasons. I have relatives in the Chicago area some have been fans all along, some are just now fans. With that said I am afraid the Chicago fans will be obnoxious if they win. At the risk of being disowned by some relatives, "Go Tribe".
  9. Scott, they have to convince me they will not eat topwater. It worked on Monday, will see if it works tomorrow. Wish I could have went out today but other duties called. As your picture shows they will try to eat lures almost as big as they are, and I have a large one tied on. It may not stay on but I have not throw it before so I have to try.
  10. Monday was a good day on the river. The fish did not seem to be in any one spot but any good looking spot had some fish. Did not see the groups of fish that HW has been seeing but caught fish on an assortment of baits with several coming on a surface lure. Soft plastics worked also as did crank baits. Weather was great and if it holds we should all put down our bows and hit the water.
  11. It is all your decision, find something you like, not necessarily what someone else wants. Follow Craig's advice and try several. I believe there is a good gun shop in Farmington. Further north is Dunn's and then Denny Dennis, I think Top Gun on the outer road in Arnold lets you rent guns and fire them at their indoor range. If you are thinking about a bear gun bigger is probably better, but then you have to carry it. You mentioned having both guns with similar frames, that is available both in revolvers and semi-autos. As Craig states nothing is more reliable than a revolver but thousands of police depend on semis. I tend to find fullsize auto frames a little big for my hands and I am about your size.
  12. Don't Know if you are ready for this but I hammered the goggs on of all things...the ned rig, last night. None the size of the one shown though
  13. I saw the same action between eagle and osprey on the James River in Virginia. I don't remember if the osprey dropped the fish or not but the eagle was sure trying to make him. We were fishing with Capt. Jack West, who some of you may remember from the old River Smallies site. We had a trip booked with him the next year but he past away between trips.
  14. Great post, wonderful time with your kids, good weather. It really doesn't get much better.
  15. I would like to apologize to Brian. Didn't mean to hijack your thread. It seems alot of us fish the Big River.
  16. Well I don't get to go often. Just trying to make the most of the opportunity.
  17. Was on the Big yesterday also. One fish. 21 inches, Biggest river largemouth I have caught in a while.
  18. Wonderful fish. You were rewarded for your determination. You have every right to celebrate. I know I'm not the first to say it but thanks for the story and the release.
  19. Great fish and great pictures. My creeks are rolling also.
  20. Well Aaron I'm sure glad we went when we did. It looks like it maybe a few days before the water is fishable.
  21. I have one of their "smoke" rods. Like it real well and it did not cost alot. It is a micro guide version.
  22. The Arnold Stream Team (209? or 211?) is very active. I think if you check, you will find they are constantly cleaning and picking up. They do a wonderful job. Anyone who has not participated in Operation Clean Stream should give it a try. It is one of the most rewarding activities around. It always feels good to know that so many people care about the health of our stream. The Arnold team is 211.
  23. Phil and Brian While I am sure that there are other people involved as well, I would like to thank Brian for all the work he has done toward the Greer Mill restoration. Phil, I would like to thank you for helping to publicize the event. I am sure there are a bunch of people helping with this effort and I appreciate all their efforts.
  24. Great job, great fish. Wonderful surprise.
  25. I remember them melting a hole in my UMCO(?) tackle box.
