I am also the proud owner of several of Jim's jigs. They are absolutely great and the workmanship is outstanding.

I insinuated nothing, on the contrary, I commended and thanked all involved. My statements were just that we all have different things that are important. I always hope to catch big fish.

So I saw the news and pictures of the new state record Brown Trout and would like to congratulate the fisherman and others involved on the care they gave the fish to keep it alive and release it. I in no way want to diminish what the angler did but my question is how important would it be to you to have the record? Now I say this knowing that I will probably never catch a state record nor do I pursue records. I tend to think that just knowing I caught it and that it was still swimming around would be enough for me. Of course if I had it on the end of my line I may view the whole thing differently. What do you think?

I think we should let this fire burn out.

Top-dollar, Sorry it should read 636 area code. Got to remember to proof read. Give me a call or text. I will warn you that until the rain stops or it freezes up we will not be able to get it out for a bit.

Yeah I had the same problem. I really wanted to send you a PM but could not. In any case. I have an older aluminum canoe that I do not have room to store. It is an Appleby? brand. It is not a livery canoe and actually is in pretty good shape, not prefect. I am not going to go out in the rain to take pictures. What it will do is get you or anyone else out on the water. It has went with my son to a couple different Army bases and been down countless rivers in Missouri. The last few years it has seen use once a year on Operation Clean Stream as a loaner for people who do not have a canoe. It has years of service ahead of it. I would like to get $100. Anyone interested can call me at 838=579=0126. Once again this is not a "junk" canoe and will serve someone for a long, long time.

I grow weary of the whole canoe/kayak argument. It should be obvious to any thinking person that it is a world of compromise. If a kayak suits your needs great, that does not mean that a canoe is bad and the reverse is also true. If you are able to post online you should be able to figure out what attributes are important to you and what are not, make your decision based on what you need. Don't let it become a Ford/Chevy argument where neither side is actually right and certainly no one will admit they may be wrong.

Top Dollar Don't know where you live but I live just south of St. Louis. I have an older aluminum canoe that you could have at a very, very reasonable price. I just have too many canoes. It is not perfect but it is perfectly serviceable. Let me know if you want it and I'm sure we can work some thing out.

JD I had to laugh when you said you went by Grand Prairie Knives. I have been there but avoided it this time. It is a great place to spend money, lots of cool stuff.

Al and Aaron, I will be there friday afternoon. Probably around 1:00 will stop by the HD Tackle booth.

It is bigger than the end on my thumb. Maybe a little over an inch across. I have a second one that is a little smaller, the picture was not as good.

Looking for Bait Casting rod recommendations
timinmo replied to Ham's topic in General Angling Discussion
Like Gavin I really like my 5'6" NFC rod and have another in the closet to build. Getting stuff from them seems problematic at this point and while I really like the product the delivery leaves something to be desired. This is a shame as every rod I have built on their blanks is a joy to fish with. My earlier replies are based on my understanding that Ham wanted a production rod. I think there are several available that meet the guide lines he listed. Obviously if he chooses to build himself or have one custom built, he can get exactly what he wants. I think there is a shop in Mountain Home that builds rods, mainly fly rods, but I'm sure they would build other types as well. Good luck in your search. -

Ham, it also seems like the St. Croix Premier line has some shorter handles as well as maybe something in the Abu Veritas line. Hope this helps. -
