  1. Seth I have that problem with the tubes also. I figured it was the same issue also. It is hard to detect that bite on the fall sometimes and those smallies can be so aggressive they just choke it. I don't fish a tube much because of that. Seems I can catch them on a jig also with out the trouble of deep hooking one. Nice report.
  2. Nice job! What was the water temp?
  3. Bill I don't think I have ever been that mad at them. My partner and I went out Friday and 3 hours into the trip with no fish I was starting to 2nd guess my choice to go fishing. Luckily around 1 PM we got on a little deal and managed to catch 3 keeper blacks and one short. That saved the day.
  4. aarchdale if you are looking at the weights that a guy was posting on bassboatcentral he did not have the correct information and admitted it. I think he is an MLF hater. LOL If you look at bassfan they apparently have access to all the weights of each persons fish and have been posting the best 5 fish bags of the top 10 anglers. Group A Day 1: Randal Tharp: 22-09 Zack Birge: 21-09 Ish Monroe: 21-08 Group B Day 2: Greg Hackney: 19-12 Jason Christie: 18-14 Alton Jones Jr: 18-05 Those are decent weights in my humble opinion with the weather they are having. I heard it has been tough down there. I saw somewhere they had a BFL on lake O last weekend with 120 + boats and there were less than 15 limits weighed. I am amazed at how worked up some of the people on bassboatcentral are over the BPT. I have watched some of it the last few days and it has been entertaining. They definitely seem to be getting the bugs worked out compared to day 1. The way some people on BBC have been carrying on you would think it was the end of the world and the BPT/MLF tour was a product of Satan himself. My thought is if you don't like it don't watch it.
  5. Seems fishy to me. I hate to roast a guy but you should look at some of his pictures. He has a picture of a spotted bass that he said weighed 9.01 pounds. I think he better get his scale checked.
  6. My troller quit last year and I bite the bullet and purchased an Ultrex. I can not imagine fishing without one now. It has changed the way I fish. I actually prefer it to be windy now especially if I am fishing off shore stuff. It keeps a lot of the boats off of the spots and with the ultrex they are a breeze to fish. No pun intended.
  7. I am glad this post came up. Drownings are unfortunate and many can be prevented by wearing your PDF and attaching the kill switch. I have a rule in my boat which is if the big motor is running life jackets are required. I got exposed to the consequences at a young age fortunately and it has stuck with me. When I was just a little shaver in the late 70's or early 80's we were camping at Cow Creek. There was an older gentleman in a tiller steer aluminum boat that was fishing infront of the campground. He had fallen out of the boat without a PDF or kill switch attached. I still remember the boat running in circles forever until it finally run aground. They found his body the next day in the same area. It was an unfortunate event but it definitely impressed upon me the importance of the life jacket at a young age.
  8. The guys at Hydro Tec in Nixa are hard to beat. I just had them change out all the small filters on my 250 HPDI fuel system.
  9. My brother and I took my 10 year old son Wyatt turkey hunting for his first time yesterday morning. He has been looking forward to this for several months. We had a ball yesterday morning. My brother did the calling and I did the filming. We had a nice bird come of the roost first thing on the other side of the field. He started working our way gobbling everytime my brother hit the call. Once he saw the decoys it was all over but the shooting. He came in like he was on a string strutting the whole way. Wyatt made a perfect shot on him at 25 yards. The best thing is we got it on film. Here is a picture of him with his turkey. 11" beard, 1" spurs, and 22 lbs. We took it to the taxidermist yesterday to get mounted for his room.
  10. I messed up and put this in the wrong section. I moved it to the turkey section.
  11. I try to pass on any good deal I find. I hate paying retail for something.
  12. Just wanted to let everyone know that the Spro McSticks are the daily special at tacklewarehouse.com today. It looked like they had all of the colors in stock for $9.74 each. Free shipping on orders over $50.
  13. Mart, Everything is sold as of yesterday.
  14. A buddy and I put in at K-Dock Saturday morning to do a little fishing. It was nice to get on the water again. This nasty weather has kept us off the water for 3 weeks. We fished bluff ends and channels swings with stick baits and jigs mostly. We caught 13 bass with 3 of those being keepers and we caught 3 walleye. The pattern of the day was definately the stick bait with a long pause. When the bass would hit you would either feel a slight tick or when you would go to jerk the bait they would just be there. The walleye on the other hand were very aggressive. They would just about rip the rod out of your hand when they would hit. All in all it was a good day and it was nice to get out on the water. Here is a picture of Kenny with a couple of the walleye we brought home.
  15. Techo I have three of the Bucco rods and I think they are hard to beat for the money. I have the 6'6" medium that I use for Spinnerbaits and Topwater, the 7' medium that use for wigglewarts, and the 7' heavy that I used for big football jigs until I got the Cara Head Turner for Christmas. I had several of the St. Croix Mojos before I got the first Bucco. I ended up selling most of the Mojos to a couple of buddies and replaced them with Falcon rods. I would use the Bucco rods for moving baits and stick with the Cara T7 rods for dragging the bottom where the feel is important with the exception of the Cara Reaction T7 Jerkbait Special. It is one sweet rod for throwing stickbaits. The next rod I am going to try out is the Lowrider 6'8" MH AOY for throwing square bill cranks up the river. I hate to admit it but I have a bad tackle and equipment addiction. I guess there are worse things to be addicted to though. I hope all of this rambling helped.
