For Those Who Don't Bait Fish Or Flyfish.
denjac replied to troutgnat's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Guess since I am a spin guy I should put my two cents in. My go to bait for wading is the super duper , brass and red. On rare occasions I can put it on the fly guys with it. Most of the time though I hold my own. -
when you were last here in 1971 you should have bought 10 acres on the strip. You could have owned your own fishing camp now! Bet it was quite a shock if you havent been there since 71.

You might check the inline fuse. And also I have kicked wires loose under the dash before. Might trace it down to see .

If you guys are tired of catching fish come over to Carthage this Saturday morning for the Maple Leaf parade. It is the biggest in SW Missouri. The marching cobras from KC wil be here and they are something to see. Also after the parade is one of the largest cars shows in the area. You can come by and say hi also. I am on the SW corner of the square where the Parade starts from. Come see me, good family fun all day. Not trying to plug the event but if you have nothing to do come on over. Dennis

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. 'How old are you?' 'I'm four and a half!' You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. 'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life ! You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!! But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling.. What's wrong? What's changed? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone... But! wait!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would! So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and make it to 60.. You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; 'I Was JUST 92.' Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!' May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!! HOW TO STAY YOUNG 1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them. 2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. 3.Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, even ham radio. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's family name is Alzheimer's. 4. Enjoy the simple things. 5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. 6... The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive. 7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge. 8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help. 9. Don't take guilt trips.. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is. 10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

3,500 Th. Guide Trip In The Books For Tr And Taney.
denjac replied to Bill Babler's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Sorry to laugh, but that was a funny story. I can see your face turning beet purple. The dog poop was the coup de grace. Sure one of them wasnt my brother in law!!! Oh by the way bet the dog poop came from Phil's dog, thats even funnier. Cograds on 3500 trips. -
About 20 years ago I helped a guy who has a large pond/small lake in Carthage. I put in Grand Lake blacks, Table rock blacks, and Stockton blacks over the course of the spring/summer. Talk about hard fighting fish! I believe it was the cross of the strains that did it, might be wrong but they sure fight hard. When I raced quarter horses we called it hybrid vigor, crossing out to completly differant familys.

GLADE: Green Leadership Academy for Diverse Ecosystems LOCATION: Springfield, MO ORGANIZATION: Greater Ozarks Audubon Society GRANT AMOUNT: $15,000.00 ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED IN PROJECT Greater Ozarks Audubon SocietyMissouri State University Bull Shoals Field StationMissouri Department of Conservation (MDC) With its TogetherGreen Innovation Grant, the Greater Ozarks Audubon Society continues its Green Leadership Academy for Diverse Ecosystems (GLADE) for the second year at Missouri State University’s Bull Shoals Field Station. This project will greatly benefit both the teen participants and the ecosystems of the White River watershed. GLADE is a week-long, service-learning, peer-mentoring student academy that provides hands-on habitat restoration, leadership training, interaction with conservation experts, and student grants for independent conservation projects. Giant cane and glade habitats along the White River are unique to southern Missouri, threatened by development, and critical to local wildlife species. Through participation in an innovative curriculum that includes a giant cane restoration project designed to increase biodiversity, academy recruits will learn about the special features of the Missouri Ozarks bioregion and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become conservation leaders in their home communities and beyond. Coming from schools throughout the Ozarks, these teens will dive into unique and enriching educational experiences throughout the entire week. While restoring important habitat for Missouri wildlife, the young naturalists will increase their overall ecological knowledge and awareness, work side by side with environmental professionals, and return to their homes with a challenge to become effective community leaders. Greater Ozarks Audubon Society and Missouri State University are offering a generation of teens in rural Missouri a new way to “Grow Up Green.” A week in the White River Glades will inspire the teens to love, protect, and improve their natural environment.

Wished I could help buddy but I sucked last Sunday. I know there are some blacks up close in the bushes in my favorite creek. Also might want to check to see if those Smallies have grown up by the dam that I fished last week, but that gives you a lotta running too from Cambell point. Good Luck! Have to go to Kc and help move my son in his new home.

I too enjoyed the tournament. Was nice meeting some OAF folks. My son and I couldnt boat a keeper, lots of shorts on the jig, grub, spoon and spook. It was tough out there and showed with the weight brought in. I knew my bite was over on Sat, but didnt hunt new fish just stuck with them. Cant complain its been a feeding bonaza the last 3 weeks, those high skys and warm temps shut them down.

I will also be there Sun. Hope to meet all of you.

Not much pressure at all during bow season. Rifle season some areas get hammered others dont. They have trails cut that go around the whole lake and keep them brush hogged in the fall. Every area has parking areas or you can go in by boat which is my choice, hunt and fish. Good turkey population too. Some feral hogs.

From an old coon hunter I found for chiggers when you get home take a bath with a couple of cap fulls of bleach in the water. Works believe it or not!
