Just saw the movie Anthropoid . It's about the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich by Czech agents dropped into Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia during WWII. It's tense and grim, but worth a watch IMO.

Launched out of Indian Creek, early in the AM, was hoping to find some stripers chasing on top, but there wasn't much activity. Think I saw a couple popping shad, but not enough for me to chase. Spent some time chasing smallies, caught half a dozen, 2 were keeper sized. What worked best for me was tossing a 3.3 Keitech on a 1/4 oz head in 20 FOW, letting it sink to the bottom, then slowly reel it in. I targeted rocky points and gravel points, but the rocks seemed to fish the best.

Looks like some great weather! -
I'll let you know, Indian creek area would be a tad bit closer for you I believe than driving to Bella Vista. I think it still may be a little early for the fall topwater bite, but with the recent cold mornings they may be going.

Well good luck out there Bill. I think I will go over to Beaver tomorrow and see if there is any striper topwater activity, if there isn't then I'll be forced to try and catch some black bass and that could go badly. I wonder what the results were for the Homer Sloan last weekend?

Went back today, caught a few more than yesterday, but only 2 were keepers and they were both barely keepers. No nice smallies today. Caught some on the Ned and got a few throwing a 1/4 oz Kastmaster at fish on top. Had to get it on them right after they came up or else they would not hit it, fan casting around the boat does not work at all with that Kastmaster. Big M dock is in too shallow, it is useable, but today the contractors that move the dock came in as I was leaving and they put yellow tape across the front of the walkway as it is "dangerous" to use it. I asked them when they would move it out, they said by the end of this week.

I have read a couple of reports where people have mentioned catching fish on the Ned rig, so I had one tied on this morning. Threw a buzzbait for about 10 minutes, didn't get a look, but saw some fish chasing shad so I knew I was around some. 2nd cast with the Ned and I hooked a pretty good fish that got off, so I decided to fish it. Action was decent, put 15 bass and a catfish in the boat. Mix of smallies and spots, did not catch a largemouth. 4 were keeper sized. Rocky points and steep rocky banks were holding fish, and I was getting bites in 10-20 FOW dragging bottom, except for a couple I caught throwing the Ned at shad chasers, ripping it and letting it drop. Looks like some great weather ahead this week, so I plan on getting out a time or two this week. Surface water temp 70 degrees.

You could also fish the OA One Bass Virtual tournament too. You could win a boat from the Big Bass Tour and a plaque from OA! -
Send Phil a PM describing your problem - I haven't heard of anyone else with this issue myself. Are you using a computer or a handheld?

Yeah it is hard to figure this stuff out - last tourney I picked a couple of guys from Michigan thinking they would have St. Clair down, well they didn't. I'm so far behind that I swung for the fences on this one and picked less popular guys rather than the highly favored ones, at this point I have nothing to lose. -
Got out at daylight today and threw the buzzer all morning. Caught 2 keepers, neither anything special, and 3 shorts. Lost another keeper smalls that jumped 3 feet in the air and tossed the buzzer. Probably had 8-10 swirls and pops that missed the bait or barely grabbed it. Certainly not hot action but enough to keep me fishing the buzzer up until 11 AM. Fish were all probably within 15 feet of the bank, usually around rocky stuff. There were some out in the channel chasing shad but could not interest them in the buzzer. Threw a squarebill for just a bit and only caught a couple of micro-dink bass on it. Saw water temps between 71 and 74.

OA One Bass Tournament (Virtual Version) #3

No need to apologize, welcome and good luck! -
Walking across the top of one of the dams on a local lake, dam runs east-west, had a pretty stiff wind blowing out of the west/northwest, probably 20 MPH or so. Saw maybe 8 or 9 monarchs come over the dam from the north and then fly south directly across the lake. You wonder how they can fly across a 20 MPH wind and hold a straight course but they do.

Interesting too that they are seeing rainbows that looked to be naturally spawned.

I need to fish it more, bit of a drive for me and it's all on I-49 through the traffic. AGFC has stocked walleye fingerlings in there, they were doing about 5,000 per year. Probably not a lot of them have survived into adulthood, but there could be some good ones in there.

Ok, have set it up for the weekend of the 31st of October.

This tournament shall run from 5 PM CT on October 30th to 8 AM CT of November 2nd. Same rules as tourney number 2. New Rule - I will create a sign up sheet in this forum. You must sign up prior to the tournament start time (5 PM on October 30). As a condition of signing up, we ask for a donation to a charity, in any amount you wish to donate. We have a virtual tourney where you take photo of your bass on a ruler and in short, the longest bass wins. Has to be a black bass, smallmouth, largemouth, spotted bass or a hybrid of these species. I'll open up a thread in this forum where you can submit photos. Make sure you get the full-length of the bass on a ruler. Make sure it's a good photo so the length on the ruler is readable in the photo. Starts Friday at 5 PM Central Time, October 30 and runs until 8 AM Central, November 2 which is a Monday. Photos must be submitted in that time frame in the thread I will open in the Fishing Events Forum. By accepting to participate you agree to be upstanding and honorable in your submission of the picture. Fish must be caught in public waters On photos submitted you must specify body of water, so we can verify that it is a public water. If it is something that you need to keep secret, then we'll accept a PM the judges attesting that it was caught in a waterway open to the public. Gradiations on the ruler must be visible in the photo, and the ruler must cover the entire length of the fish. Also state the length of the fish along with the photo. We will start a thread in this forum before 5 PM on Friday the October 30. In that thread we will specify a number, that number must be included (written on a piece of paper) in the photo of your fish. Also we will start of thread for submission of photos. Artificial lures only. Fish must be live when photographed. Participation is limited to OA members or their spouses and children. Should we have a tie, we'll have a 3 person panel make the call.
