I have used them as drop shot baits and they will catch fish. They float too, so I agree might make a good little jig trailer.

There certainly has been a "Ned" craze lately when it comes to small plastics. Funny how the whole thing has mushroomed. I have tried a few of the small baits and still can't find anything that will out fish the cut Zinker.
-
Come to think of it, Strike King has come out with a mini beaver deal too. They've built quite a lineup of mini plastics.
-
HAHA, yeah I think Bo has been known to catch a few in the mud.
-
Z-man craw Strike King has come out with a Rage Ned craw also. Zoom tiny salty chunk - not a craw, but it's a good little trailer for a small jig. Netbait Tiny Paca chunk Venom lures finesse chunks I've been messing around with little jigs myself. 👍

Well there's one I never heard of before this.

I got my GSP from this guy, he breeds dogs for walking hunters rather than trial dogs bred for bird dog trials. My dog needed very little training, he just had good instincts. Never hunted as much as I thought I would so he's been more of a pet the last few years. Anyway, he's close enough that you can drive over and take a look, when I was there he had pups and a couple of older dogs, plenty of choices. Don't know what your price range is, but I think I paid $400 for my pup, but that was close to 10 years ago. M&M has the permits $10 voluntary donation, proceeds to go to CAM (Christian Action Ministries) Here are the rules, such as they are. Feel free to bring food. See pinned food thread and reply there if you plan on bringing anything March 20, 2021, Eagle Rock COE Ramp, 0630 start time, Tournaments ends at 1430. Must be a registered OA member to participate. Big bass format, largest weight wins. Any black bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted Bass, Meanmouth) are eligible, but only one bass will qualify as the biggest. Plaque will be awarded to the winner (and just think of the bragging rights you will have on the forum). Immense prestige will accrue to the winner of this tournament. You can fish multiple people out of a boat, but the trophy will go to the individual that weighs in the biggest bass. You can trailer to another Table Rock launch if you prefer. Typical bass tourney rules apply - No bait, no trolling, and no A-rig or multi-arm lures. No promises on what will be there as far as food, but last year things came together and we had a pretty good spread. I recommend you bring your own drinks. Always a chance that weather could be bad in March, if it is looking bad enough to make travel treacherous then we will have to reschedule. We'll notify everyone a day or two in advance it if looks like bad weather. Hideaway.... what a day....kentuckies play....1-21-21

Speaking of stocking, I've seen where Tennessee is stocking FL/Northern bass hybrids. I don't think they are doing it to increase LM populations, but are doing it to produce bigger bass on average. Table Rock is too far north to support pure FL strain bass, but it seems it would be worth looking into stocking these hybrids, seems that if it works in the TN highland reservoirs it should work here. -

Man I love catching spots, granted you need to be fishing light tackle to get the most out of them, but sure do love it when I get one that is 16-17" long. I weighed a fat 16 inch spot I caught last week and that fish went 2.75 lbs. This time of year they are at their best, fat and healthy. I am a little more concerned about the largemouth population in the upper White. I am just not catching the number of short LM's that I usually get this time of year, it has me concerned that we might be seeing some weak numbers of keeper LM in the next couple of years. Some of the coves that reliably held LM's are just deserts - maybe I'm not throwing the right stuff, or maybe they all live out in 90 FOW full time now except to spawn, but I am just not seeing LM's around like I used to. I thought all these highwater springs we've had would be good for the spawn, seems we ought to have swarms of bass based on that. -
That's a really nice sized pickerel.
-
Thanks - last bite of the day, had what appeared to be a keeper sized meanmouth get off about 10 feet from the boat. Arrrgghhhhh...

Launched at 0730 again, misty morning, no wind and the wind never did come up all day and the clouds stayed low. Early bite, once the clock got to about 1130 things really got slow and I hit the road at 1:30 PM. Caught most of my fish on the 2.8 Keitech, fishing it deep, 15 to 30 feet down. I'm letting it bottom and slowly bring it back, with pauses to let it get back down to the bottom. Several bass bit it on the fall too. Caught 3 on the ned in trees that were in 20 FOW. Ended up with a dozen bass and a short walleye, 6 of the bass were keepers. WT 44

Way to go Mr. McBasser! I have no idea where Hideaway is located, but looks like some good fishing. -
One of the best I've seen for that lake.
-
Dang it, I missed it. I'm going to try to remember to stay up when it is 2222 on 2/22/2222.

Launched at about 0730, cloudy sky, water was flat calm and stayed that way for the most part all morning. Thought today would be a dynamite day for Ned fishing, but the bass didn't agree, I threw the Ned quite a bit and had only one spot and a 17" walleye to show for it. Threw a Pointer 78 early, there were a few fish coming up to swirl on top, gave them a chance at the Pointer, missed three bites and those were the last bites I had on it. Out of desperation I started swimming a 2.8 Keitech on a 3/16 oz head on flats that were 20-30 feet deep. Let it fall to the bottom and then slow rolled it back. Started catching fish, all spots with one meanmouth. Left at 1:30 PM with 15 bass total, 5 keepers. WT 44

Email from AGFC: The Winter Series Tournament on Beaver Lake has started out with some really nice fish being weighed in. Tournament Angler Chris Johnson from Farmington and his partner Salvador Garcia from Rogers (pictured) had a banner day on January 17 and weighed in 22.02 pounds! This can be the best time to catch big Largemouth Bass on Beaver Lake.
-
No way - you are the man with that stringer of big Largemouth you caught a couple of days ago.
-
Got in the water about 0730, another boat was launching just before me and that was the only other boat I saw up until I left at 1:30 in the PM. Decent bite on the Ned rig, usual chunk rock banks, points with timber on them. Only exception was catching a couple on old boat ramps. Fish were anywhere from 10 feet out to about 25. Slow dragging on the bottom. Caught 17 with 5 keepers. WT was 44 early when I checked.

The lake is fishing tough. No doubt someone out there got into them, but in general it is tough fishing from what I'm hearing.
-
Yeah you wouldn't expect a lot of people to be out. I wonder what Roaring River was like.
