  1. Have not listened to either yet, but they sound interesting: Arkansas Smallmouth Bass Featured on Two Episodes of The Ozark Podcast Arkansas boasts one of the most diverse Smallmouth Bass species complex genetics worldwide. The AGFC has partnered with the University of Arkansas and The Ozark Podcast to release two episodes that explore this genetic diversity and its implications for managing the state's Smallmouth Bass and Neosho Bass populations. First Episode: Smallmouth Bass Species Complex Genetics In Episode 207, Dr. Chris Middaugh (AGFC Conservation Support Division) and Dr. Tyler Chafin (University of Arkansas) discussed the results of the statewide Smallmouth Bass Genetics Diversity project. This research analyzed the genetics of 1,500 fish collected from 113 sites across Arkansas. Following Episode: Smallmouth Bass Management Plans In Episode 208, Eric Naas and Jeremy Risley from the AGFC Black Bass Program elaborated on how the AGFC plans to use the project's findings, along with other information, to guide Smallmouth Bass management efforts statewide. Listen Now You can access both episodes by clicking here and here, or by searching for the Ozark Podcast on your preferred podcast platform. Special Thanks We extend a special thank you to the hosts of the Ozark Podcast, Kyle Viet and Kyle Plunkett, for bringing Arkansas outdoors to the listeners. We also recommend checking out their five-part series on Neosho Bass, with the first episode available here: Episode 126: Living in the Shadows.
  2. I'll be curious to hear how you do. A local fishing club has fished Eucha the last couple of weeks, they had a great day 2 weeks ago, several over 5 lbs. landed. Maybe that will translate well for Grand.
  3. That's a ginormous white! Congrats on a great day!
  4. I was out there today too, wind blew me off at noon, should've left at 1100, but I stayed and fought the wind, hated to leave because they were biting but that wind was too much for me. I caught a few early on the Surge Shad, a couple on the 3.3 swim bait, then it was ned or a Z-Man lizard. Caught a couple dozen with 5 keeps. Biggest was a 17" smalls. I'm planning on going to Beaver tomorrow, the smalls are biting!
  5. Thanks for the tips Bill! I like the looks of those Nako heads.

  8. Yessir, fishing is good and should keep on going for a couple of months. This rain may get some whites in the backs of the coves. I'd like to see it not get over 1120 for a couple of years so the buck brush can grow back. I'm seeing some pop up on the banks, but it needs a year or two to grow. Then it can flood in the spring over that buck brush. I like flipping that brush.
  9. Not a bad idea, I have to put 8 of them on the bread to make a decent sandwich.
  10. Interesting video, show underwater effects of passing wake boats. Out to 14 feet deep, and for several minutes after the boat has passed:
  11. Wind has been crazy at times too. It really blew yesterday.
  12. There was some slime in a few places. I hate that stuff!
  13. It's been a while since I fished over at Big M. Got out at first light and fished until about 1:30 PM. A lot of bass up on the banks on beds and there are still some over deep water too. I fished the Surge Shad early and picked up a few on it, had several that blew up on it but missed. I then moved to a shallow cove that I thought would have some fish up shallow but didn't find any. However, a little surface activity drew me out to the mouth of the cove where it was about 20 feet deep and I caught 10 or so on the Yammie Shibo swimbait. First two casts with the Shibo resulted in 2 bass. That Shibo kicks well and rolls at slow speed, made out durable plastic too. I like it so far. Once they stopped hitting the swim bait, I started working banks where I thought there would be bedding fish. Used the ned rig and got many shallow bites. Getting them hooked was tough, but with so many bites I was able to get some of them in the boat. Mostly spotted bass, but caught my biggest, a 3 lb. largemouth, on the ned. I ended up with about 30 bass, 3 keepers. Last fish of the day was a keeper sized walleye that was released. WT 60-62

  16. Don't know if anyone saw it, but MDC is proposing to set up a brush pile reservation system for Saturdays only. Basically, you can download the app and pay a $5 fee and reserve a brush pile for your exclusive use on any given Saturday. MDC will supply a map showing where these brush piles are located. So far, just a proposal and they are looking for feedback. Link below will get you to the survey. BTW this is only for Table Rock. Brushpile Survey | Missouri Department of Conservation
  17. Nice one!
  18. They cut back on the trout stocking due to the federal hatchery problems, but I believe they also cut back on how many can be kept too. Looks like it has worked out well.
  19. I'm estimating this dude went about 20 inches. Did not keep it, nothing to keep it in, and I'm not real big on eating fish anyway. Caught a handful of smallies too. Ned Rig.

  21. Had time to get over to the lower end of the lake this afternoon. Wind was blowing out of the north, found a few in a cove that had the wind blowing into it. With warmer water these dudes are pulling. Water is pretty clear, it's fun when I put them back in the water to see them just fly out into the depths.
