Next time I am out on Table Rock, and if I should happen to catch 50 bass, I'll call is a super-duper, extra double, banner day. 50 bass in August is pretty darned good.

Thanks for the pics. I have been to Vernal, 25 years ago. If you have time and want to do some neat hiking, visit Dinosaur National Monument (if you haven't already). Very interesting geology and scenery. -
I used to see the WP quite a bit around Big M, but have not seen them so far this year. And guys say they've never seen a game warden on TR, but I have been checked twice in the last 3 years by the GW, once on the water and once at the dock.

Watching the forecast last night, weather dude says now that the computer forecast is showing no rain for Sunday, but once again he is thinking the computer is wrong and is sticking to his guns as far a forecasting "heavy rain" for Sunday. But at the end of his forecast he says "Anything could happen". What a forecast! Accuweather is now predicting only clouds for tomorrow. I was hoping for a good rain that would get the creeks going in the backs of the coves.

The dude who is predicting 3-5", predicted that we would get some rain this morning, it didn't happen. What was funny was the "computer model" said it would not rain here this AM, but he thought the computer model was wrong. Looks like it did rain some around Table Rock.

TV Weather Guesser was saying we could get 3-5 inches this weekend.

I fished one of the Bella Vista ponds yesterday, still resisting the urge to chase the little white ball over hill and dale. I did go over to TR today, launched at Campbell point, brought one of my Bella Vista fishing buddies over. Long story short, should've just stayed here in BV. We caught a grand total of 4 bass, three of them smallies and one spot. Not one largemouth did we get. One of the smallies was around 2.5 lbs. for big fish. We got them on jigs. Could not find Babler's huge school of top water fish. very little top water activity. And of course the wakers came out about 10 AM and made things miserable. We were off the water at 1130.

Stradics are good, I have one and it hasn't given me any problems. I picked up a few Pflueger Supremes and Supreme XT's, the previous version when they were on sale before they introduced the current version. Great reels with one exception. That exception is that there is a little piece of metal on the inside of the spool that is part of making the clicking noise when a fish pulls drag. I've had two of those pieces wear out and you end up with a silent drag. Not a big deal and maybe they've got a more durable piece on the newest version, but worth mentioning. The Supremes also do not come with a spare spool.

No gauge here for me, but I'm thinking around an inch. Getting a little light rain right now, but should stop soon. Maybe the fish will think it is October and start biting.

Today I made myself throw a square bill and tried hard not to pick up the dragging baits. Stuck with the SB for about three hours, starting at daylight. Didn't catch many, but got 5, all largemouth, 2 were keepers. They all came on main channel chunk rock banks, up shallow. When I am by myself throwing SB's or other cranks, I'll position my boat parallel to the bank and throw down the bank from the bow, trying to keep the bait running near the bottom, kicking off cover. Caught about a 3 foot gar on the SB also. Caught another 3 or so on the Trick worm, one was a keeper smallie. Smallie was an accidental "deadstick" fish. Had a hard rain shower hit me about halfway through my retrieve, put the rod down, put on my rain coat, picked up the rod, reeled in the slack and he was there. Fortunately he didn't swallow it. Sun came out about 10 AM and that shut them down, I fished until 11 AM but did not get a bite after 10. The wake boat navy was also making its appearance so it was time to go. Surface temp was down to 83. -
