  1. Yep I'm all for fixing the ACA, because it needs it. And the reality of the situation is that the ACA is the law and we're stuck with it for now so let's make it work. But from what I'm seeing the latest bills coming out of the House to end the budget shutdown are not proposing to end the ACA, or defund it. And the current lack of agreement on the shutdown is equally the responsibility of Democrats as much as Republicans. This whole "It's all the Republican's fault" argument being used by some is contributing to the rancor and not helping to get to a resolution. The Democrats could help end this shutdown by agreeing to some minor concessions and granting those moderate Republicans something they could sell to their base. As long as the Dems continue this hard line no negotiating stance this thing is going to drag on. The whole thing is becoming a struggle to see who "wins" and it's as much attributable to Tea Party Republicans as it is to Obama.
  2. You can say the same thing about Obama, he is willing to sink the ship to get his way.
  3. Yep you're right, but the shutdown continues and on October 17 we face a debt ceiling dispute. We're far from the end.
  4. Sorry, got to dispute the "THEY LOST" part of your argument. The GOP controls the House because "THEY WON". And yes as part of our Democracy, the Congress is allowed to disagree with the president. The true DANGER we face, is a president that thinks he's a dictator. And far as upholding the law, what about that Janet Napolitano refusing to enforce the laws against illegal immigration? Oh, I guess since she was appointed by Obama, it's OK for her to disobey the law, but not OK for ELECTED Republicans to disagree with Obamacare?
  5. I disagree that contacting the politicians is useless, it's pretty much a volume game, if they get lots of responses on something, they'll usually focus on that. Doesn't mean that they may get something done. I'm in favor of a balanced budget amendment BTW.
  6. I'll have to remember to pick up a Larson book next time I'm at the library. I've been reading Ian Rankin books lately, set in Scotland so the "English" is a little different, but still a good read if you like crime novels.
  7. I do, kind of, been a long time since I read "The Stand".
  8. No problem, I understand, had stuff to do around the house anyway.
  9. Will do, got some time to fire off some emails today.
  10. Thanks for the article. Anyone know if Big M is one of the eight open?
  11. I'm going to try that myself. I've heard through the grapevine that a suspender or slow floater fishes better than an unmodified "new version" wart.
  12. That's a darn good day, Jeb. Those nice spots are a blast to catch!
  13. LOL, no we did not fish near the secret ramp. We went to a secret spot near a secret cove first thing in the morning. We had a good early bite dragging c-rigs with Trick worms and speed craws on some 10-20 foot deep brush piles. Then things got tough, with just a fish here and there, Jeb out fished me 11 - 3 or something like that. I must have been wearing the wrong color t-shirt or something.
  14. We may have used the same secret ramp you did, we were there in the AM however.
  15. Windsor is the bigger of the bunch you mentioned, Loch Lomond is the biggest BV lake. Fished Windsor last week, it was a tough bite, there are some schooling fish that can pop up and if you're right on them, you can get them on a spoon. If you're into bream, there's been a good bite on Windsor, crickets fished around deep brush piles.
  16. Thanks for the pic.
  17. PC launch was empty yesterday, I haven't seen anyone "break the barrier" and launch on Beaver. I bet HWY 12 is busy.
  18. That is a load of doves, nice work!
  19. Suspending Wart, I bet you could get a buck or two for those.
  20. Hmmm, we have guys who know absolutely nothing about zebra mussels proclaiming they ain't gonna hurt a thing. I love this forum!
  21. Very nice!
  22. I'm a James Lee Burke fan myself, I think I've read them all. The remarks the bad guys make about Clete can be some funny stuff.
  23. Just speculating, but aren't zebra mussels plankton feeders thus the clear lake you see as a result? Seems that would be bad for shad with the mussels eating their food source. It might be good for smallmouth, but I can't see anything else benefitting from a zebra mussel infestation.
  24. Very nice!
