Stump bumper - Sent you a PM, I might be able to get out Thursday or Friday.

It seems it would be a good thing, but unless it can put more money in the pockets of farmers than corn I don't see it happening. Mowed grass doesn't make good gamebird habitat, used to hunt pheasants and quail in Washington state where the farmers grow a lot of hay, you still need good cover to hold birds, if they mow the fields up to the fences, it still won't hold birds even if it's grass.

I struck out on the stripers back in PC, must have been to far back I guess, did catch a few black bass back there, lots of shad as F&F mentions. Still a great evening to get out. WC - I think I saw you leaving the ramp when I pulled in about 1 PM, saw a yellow Nitro loading up at the PC ramp about that time.

Wow, what a cheapskate the guy is. I guess the RM we see on TV is not the "real" RM. After taking your gas money did he give you fair shots at the fish? It wouldn't bug me to split gas with the front seater as long as they didn't position the boat to shut me out.

I might sneak over there this evening myself, probably just throw artificials at them. If you see a 17' Express with a 60 HP Yammie on the back, stop by and say hi.

BRANSON, Mo. — Kevin Short kept plugging away each day and saved his best performance for last to win the season finale Bassmaster Central Open bass fishing tournament at Table Rock Lake. After catching only three fish and sitting in 22nd place on Day One, Short added four keepers and jumped up to fifth place the next day to make the Final 12 cut. The Mayflower, Ark., angler bagged a five-fish limit weighing 15 pounds, 7 ounces today to amass 33 pounds, 8 ounces and claim his fifth B.A.S.S. victory. The tournament featured about every challenge imaginable — a major cold front followed by bluebird skies, a slick water surface, dropping lake level, dropping water temperatures, fog delay, turnover and suspending baitfish. “I have not fished Table Rock a whole lot, but I have been fortunate enough to fish it when it was really, really good,” said Short. “When I had a bag like that (15-7), people didn’t even want to talk to me. I have also fished it when it was worse than this. There are some of those days when you just absolutely figure it out about what you need to be doing and you are in the right place and you just get it done. Today was one of those days.” Short figured out that he needed to keep cranking his WEC E-1 crankbait in a “Classic” hue. In practice he figured the tournament would be won fishing deep. “The first day of the tournament I caught those three fish and they were all over the place. I had absolutely no confidence in anything. The second day I went all the way back in Long Creek, and for the last two days I have hit every single piece of wood (mostly laydowns) cranking. “The key for me yesterday was figuring out that the better fish were in there and I caught them on my little E-1. That gave me the confidence to go in there and stay all day today. I knew that I needed 14 to 15 pounds to even have a shot at winning.” Short’s best shot helped him claim the top prize of a Skeeter bass boat/Yamaha outboard rig valued at $45,000 and $9,000 in cash. Day Two leader Tommy Martin made it easier for Short to climb to the top as the Hemphill, Texas, angler caught only two keepers today and fell into second place with 26-6. Rounding out the top five in the pro division are Robbie Dodson Jr., of Harrison, Ark., in third with 22-13; James Niggemeyer, Van, Texas, fourth, 22-4; and Brian Snowden, Reeds Spring, Mo., fifth, 21-7. Jacques Fleischmann of Lampe, Mo., took home a Nitro bass boat/Mercury outboard rig worth $35,000 by winning the co-angler division with a three-day total of five bass weighing 11-7. Shawn Temple of Lewisville, Texas, finished as the runner-up with 10-3, followed by Clayton Coppin of Wagoner, Okla., in third with 10-0. Day Two leader Vincent Borrego of Scottsdale, Ariz., blanked today and dropped to fourth with 9-8, while Jim Furr of Hemphill, Texas, placed fifth with 8-15. Stl Cardinals 2011 - The Road To Somewhere ?
Quillback replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Sports
I'm heard the announcers say that Pujols TURNED DOWN a 9 year, $180 million dollar offer from the Cards. So to sign him the Cards will have to come up with even more, unless no other team meets his salary demands. He's 31 now, maybe 3-4 really good years left (barring injuries). Is he really worth signing to a 9-10 year contract at at least 20 million/year? Great to see the Cards win last night, what a change from the nail biters the first two games were. Cards were so close the 2nd game, if Pujols long fly to center had gone a little further, or if Molina's throw to 2nd on Kinsler's steal in the ninth had gotten there a split second earlier, Cards could be up 3-0. -
Nothing illegal about throwing a cast net for bait, ignore the yelling yahoos on the road, or if you're feeling feisty, flip them the bird You can use sunfish for bait, not as good as shad I'm told, but useable.
-
There may be an Indian Point in the area, but I don't know of one. It's on the lower end of the lake, couple of miles from the dam.
-
Seems to be tough all over the area, I fished Beaver yesterday, I had to work hard to get 5 12" spots and some dinks, only could get bit by tossing finesse worms into cedar tops. Talked to some guys fishing a church tourney on one of the Bella Vista lakes last week and they were struggling too, winner had 5 fish for 8.5 lbs.
-
I hope you guys get out and shoot some Canadians - Canadian geese that is Saw some up the Indian creek arm a few weeks ago, that annoying honking gets on my nerves when I'm fishing.
-
Heck FC, we haven't even set anything up and you're out? I'm thinking sometime in April we could do this.
-
I would probably have space for another person, and I'm sure if this thing were to happen there might be space in other boats also.
-
Yeah Stump Bumper that happened to me last winter one day fishing out of jeb's boat. Hooked a striper on an expensive jerkbait, using 8# test, fish got into the trees, goodbye jerkbait.
-
We should have an OAF fish-in at some point for the lake guys (river guys would still be welcome of course), the river guys get together but never us lake types. We could fish upper TR or lower Beaver.
-
Man that looks like some great eating!

I went to high school in Mass., and after an interval in the Army, went to college at Northeastern. Used to bass fish the Charles river around Millis quite a bit, and the local ponds and lakes in that area, pretty good bass fishing can be had in Mass.

Glad to see the Cards made it to the WS. Didn't think they had a chance when the season began. -
Cool, congrats to your sister!
-
Yeah WC keep the faith, the fishing on Beaver for black bass has been tough lately, you're not the only one struggling out there. Maybe after these storms clear out they'll pick up again. I might go try the Indian creek area tomorrow AM and see if the topwater bite is going, it was a great bite last fall, but just hasn't been good this year.

I emailed the FLW folks, never heard back from them.

Maybe we'll have Cards vs Tigers world series, if so it would be the 4th time these two have matched up in a WS. -
Yeah I wonder too what really worked, winner sure in plugging Luck-E-Craft baits. Not that there's anything wrong with them...

Diggin out the maps, checking out public land in Nebraska, appears to be quite a bit of it. Probably gets hunted hard however.
