  1. Aaron Martens in the lead. I might watch some live coverage today if I have the time.
  2. I might give it a shot next week. I hope the fish get the spawn over with soon.
  3. In my opinion the BX Wakes easier than the Redfin. It's also easier to cast. But, it doesn't have that unique snakey action that a jointed Redfin has. I'd like to see the BX come out in a jointed version.
  4. Good deal!
  5. Never could nail them down today, seems that most of the fish are back in the coves in the Upper Section. Caught a couple early on topwater, and during the day caught fish on The Ned, wobblehead with a Structure Bug, Nutech Jig, War Eagle jig and some c-rig fish with a UV Speed Craw. I'd say my average fish was a spawned out 13-14 inch Spot. Saw fish on beds, fish actively spawning, and some bass fry swimming around. Saw several big shad balls out near the main channel, nothing was bothering them, but I think that will change before long. Could be setting up for a good top water bite. 25 total, with 4 keepers, but I did get a Babler Slam. Water temps started at 62 in the AM and were up to 65-66 when I left at 1:30 PM.
  6. Good stuff, thanks for the report!

Yep good value pick for the Bronks. He may haunt the Chefs in the future. Doesn't have to worry about being pulled over and busted for the evil weed in Colorado.
  8. Looks like several guys have now moved up to over 20 lbs. That's one of the problems when someone like Coombs gets a fast start. It's hard to upgrade much once you have 22 lbs. in the livewell.
  9. Just looked at BassTrakk and Coombs already has 5 for 22 lbs. (estimated). It's 0942 in the morning out there, the guy must have dropped his trolling motor right on them.

    NFL draft

Where will Shane Ray go? And when? He looked to be a mid to late 1st rounder, but that may not happen. And who will get DGB? Chef need a receiver, I wonder if he's available in the 2nd round or later if the Chefs will grab him?
  11. Good luck to you and your crew! Nice rig.
  12. I did catch the biggest bass off a back end dock corner, and a couple others off the side of docks. I didn't get any bites off the fronts or in the stalls, but I did not spend a lot of time fishing stalls. A few fish were caught off points and chunk rock banks, but most were in coves on the sunny side. The little pockets in the coves hold spawners, but I fish the deeper water in front of the beds or off the secondary points, I'm not targeting the bedding fish, but looking for the ones that are lurking in the deeper water near the bedding areas. I usually do a kind of hop with the jig, just lift it a bit, a few inches, and let it drop. Had several chasers back to the boat, so swimming a jig may get a fish or two also.
  13. I hear you Jim, and Bluebasser, the Ned is fun to fish and catches quality and quantity. I have fished it a lot so far this year, and I don't want to say that I'm tired of fishing it, but I like fishing other stuff especially jigs.
  14. Nice cold morning, no wind but lots of sun. I'm ready for a day that I can start out first thing in the morning wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Today was not the day. Pretty much decided to go with jigs today, didn't catch as many as a Ned day, but I expected that. Did get some quality, a 4.5 on a War Eagle 3/8 oz in Pond Scum Perch, and a 3 lb. on a Nutech Pro Series in GP/Blue 3/8 oz. Using Rage Tail Chunks as a trailer. Caught another 15 on the Nutech, with a few keepers in there. Mainly I was going into coves and fishing cover, most fish were shallow, less than 10 feet. I did get a 2.5 smallie on the Ned (I had to throw it for a bit). Water temps were 60-63. There's still some bass on beds, but not a lot.

  16. Yeah Spinal Tap is a good one, I haven't watched it in a while. One line from one of the songs has always stuck with me: "She's got a cushion, for pushin' "
  17. Thanks for the report - that is some good fishing!
  18. I have had very few deep hooked fish, as in deep in the throat on the Ned. I don't know why that is, because you would think fish would be swallowing it all the time. Usually for me, it is the Carolina rig (or the split shot) that will get swallowed. But, good points Jim on fish care for deeply hooked fish. And I have seen the let them recover in the live well to release later thing work.
  19. Not much of a Cards fan, but you hate to see this. If there is any silver lining it is that it is not an arm injury, and he should be back in fine form next year.
  20. Except when they meet the Royals in the World Series. But in all seriousness, I'd like to see a Cards/Royals Series this year.
  21. I may give Windsor a shot today, haven't been over there in a few months. I fished the Ned over at Lake Ann last week, caught 10, 10-14" fish. Week before that I fished Loch Lomond with the Ned - probably caught 75 or so 6 - 10" bass and another 25 that were 1 -3 lbs. Spawning beds were everywhere except for the steep banks. Lomond needs some thinning of he herd, way too many dink bass in that lake.
  22. Thanks for posting, some great fishing!
  23. Not lately, where were they last year?
  24. Wind whips through trees Green clouds of pollen blow I sneeze
  25. Good observations. I hate that spawn thing where they will pick up a bait and move it away, but never really have it in their mouths.
