  1. Plug, these are new lures from Rogue. Deep divers, not the stuff you're fishing on LOZ. Concepts are different from what you're used to.
  2. That would be pretty sweet!
  3. Well at this point who done what doesn't really matter that much. That whole rebranding thing Rainbow is talking about was tried with Chum salmon. Chums have a bad rap because as soon as they hit the rivers they deteriorate quickly, but if you catch them in the salt water, bleed them and ice them right away they are tasty. So the salmon industry came up with a marketing campaign and sold them as "Silver Brite" salmon.
  4. Thanks guys for the info on the Zig jigs, I'll see if I can order a few. Good idea Gavin - I'll try that out also.
  5. Thanks for the report!
  6. You do know these are deep divers? Wouldn't make much sense to throw them up on the bank when the bass are up shallow, I'd use something else, a shallower model, but that's me.
  7. Sometimes, but not always, I get quite a few jerkbait fish suspended over timber and brushpiles. If I need to bang stuff off the bank and rocks I probably won't be using one of these. But I can usually cast well enough to avoid beating the crap out of my lures.
  8. Well I have some Float-n-Fly jigs. I wonder if they are any tackle shops nearby the resort that sell any Zigs?
  9. Maybe Bill can spend some time talking Redfins.
  10. Personally, I'd like to see Mizzou vs FL State.
  11. No kidding!
  12. BTW, if you look closely at that fish pic, you can see a crawdad antennae poking out of the vent.
  13. Got to the lake at about 8:30, cloudy day with no wind at all. I worked some docks with jigs, didn't get any bites, switched to a tube a picked a couple up. I then tried a couple of coves, picked a couple more up on the tube. Threw a jerk bait and crank bait for a bit also, nothing but a dink on the JB. Later in the afternoon, I broke out the 5" Slim Senko, T-rigged it and started fishing it on steep, chunk rock banks, I immediately started picking up fish, unfortunately I only had half a bag of Senkos and after 3 spots and a few bites I was out of Senkos. I moved to another section of steep bank, tied on a Zoom Centipede in green pumpkin and picked up a few more fish on it, by then it was 4 PM and time to head for the barn. Ended up with a dozen bass, 2 keepers. I think that if I had started the day fishing steep banks with the Senkos and Centipedes I would have caught more fish.
  14. Do those Zig jigs have round heads? I have some steelhead jigs that have been sitting in my closet since I moved to Arkansas. They're marabou jigs 1/8 - 1/16, might have a few 1/4 also. Pinks and whites mostly. All ball head, hopefulyl they'll work?
  15. I don't like the rankings at all, if OSU and FSU win out it appears they will play in the NC. I'm hoping one of them loses this coming week and we can get the winner of the SEC in the NC game.
  16. Kind of depends what kind of fishing I'm going to do. If drop shotting or spooning I'll spend some time looking around for fish. But if I'm fishing steep chunky rock stuff or working cover I'll generally just pull up and start fishing.
  17. If Mizzou, FS and OSU all win out, I have a feeling the NC game will be between FS and OSU. I don't like it, but I don't see how Mizzou will jump over 2 undefeated teams. If Auburn wins out, they may have a shot at it considering they beat the #1 team, but they too may not be able to jump ahead of OSU in the polls. I think we need to see OSU lose to Michigan State next week for Mizzou to have a chance. I don't see FSU losing. Who, at the beginning of the season, would have predicted an SEC title game between Auburn and Mizzou?
  18. Auburn should send Saban a big thank you card. Passing on a 31 yd field goal, but at the end of the game attempting at 57 yarder? Boneheaded coaching at it's finest. Wow, what an outcome.
  19. Painted by Tim Hughes. One is "Gizzard" the other "Norman Flake". My photo doesn't quite do them justice.
  20. Just about as good as the New Years day bowl games.
  21. I saw one of the trucks hauling out a load of wet dirt the other day on my way to Big M - now I know what they were up to.
  22. Cool, I'm looking forward to hearing how you do. There's some wind out there today, might get them going.
  23. You guys got me all fired up with all the stories about fish practically jumping in the boat, and I go out there today and scrape out 5 sub-legal spots. I'm ready for springtime Fish came on tubes, I threw several jerk baits around, had one nice fish follow one to the boat, but didn't see him until after I pulled the JB out of the water. That kind of day. Saw some wildlife, a couple of minks several eagles, and saw a road runner on a steep bank down by the water. I see a couple of road runners a year, but they're always around, well, roads. First time I've seen one down by the lake. Water temp 52-54.
  24. I did not see the game, but saw that LSU pulled it out. Would have been a heck of an upset.
