  1. Yeah I'd be fine with the Irish in the title game. And Oregon does have a tough row to hoe, if I was a betting man, I'd bet they will lose one of their remaining games.
  2. Saw the 2nd half of the A&M vs Tide game. Great game, I thought the Tide would pull it out, but a goal line interception and an offsides call on an A&M punt did them in. Way is open for a K-State/Oregon title game, but Oregon has 2 tough games left against Stanford and Oregon State, and K State has Baylor and Texas on the schedule.
  3. Very nice! Thanks for the report!
  4. I've become a big jerkbait fan the last few years. They should start working soon, caught my PB, 9.5 lbs. on a McRip and my fishing buddy Jeb caught an 8 lb. last winter on an RC Lucky-E-Strike jerkbait. McSticks, McRips (run a little deeper than a McStick), Luck-Strike RC, IMA Flits, Lucky Craft Pointers, and Lucky Craft Bevy Shads (for a smaller profile). On the local lakes here in BV, fish will suspend over brushpiles in the winter, find the right brushpile and you can get a dozen bass out of it. Get yourself a good lure retriever also.
  5. Saw this as I was browsing rods today, pretty good deal on a lightly used rod, I think these folks also warranty their used rods. http://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/used-casting-rod-g-loomis-cbr-855-glx-1.html It's a 782C IMX, dunno why the link has 855 GLX in it.
  6. I'm getting a little concerned about that weather station. Right now it shows east wind at 7 MPH, but the weather channel.com shows wind in Rogers at 13 MPH out of the south with gusts to 18.
  7. Yeah I saw the rating, question is whether I believe it. But if you pick one up, let us know how it does throwing a 1/4 oz lure.
  8. Sounds like a good choice, I might be a little leery about using a MH for fishing weightless plastics, but Senkos ought to fit into the weight range listed. Are you fishing tight quarters, no need for long casts? Just asking as I'm not a big fan of 6' casting rods, like the longer ones for casting distance. But I'm standing on the deck of a bass boat and lake fishing all the time. It's hard to know how a rod will perform without actually fishing one.
  9. Most of the large coves and some of the smaller ones on Beaver have feeder creeks, usually in the far back of the cove. Many of them are dry this year because of the drought, but we're supposed to get some good rain Sunday, so we should see some runoff from the creeks. A lot of the experts will tell you that when you get runoff this time of year that stains the water in the coves, that's where you want to be fishing. We just don't want so much rain that Beaver turns coffee brown.
  10. There's a wind speed circular guage in the middle top. It does not update, you have to click refresh. I wonder if it is a location that is sheltered from wind, as it is showing E wind at 2MPH right now and I know from looking outisde the wind is blowing harder than that. I looked at it last evening and it showed wind speed of 8 out of the East, and again the winds were blowing harder yesterday evening.
  11. That is a great link, yes pin it!
  12. Maybe we'll have Arkansas vs Mizzou in the "Barely Qualifying Bowl". As far as local fan interest it would probably be one of the best bowl options available to these 2 teams. They could have it in Springfield - the Bass Pro Bowl! If these 2 played each other in a bowl I might watch it.
  13. Petrino is available...$3 million a year, throw in a blond mistress, and he's yours. Heard a rumor that Kentucky is considering him.
  14. I hate the prevent defence, all it does is prevent you from winning.
  15. Great report, you guys did good considering the tough conditions.
  16. Hit a good, but brief Wiggle Wart bite this morning, they were on a couple of breezy chunk rock banks, caught 10 on the Wart, biggest was a 17" smallie. Once the sun popped out the Wart bite dried up for me. Got a couple more on a t-rigged Senko and one on a paddletail. Nothing on the topwater, the blade, or the FB jig. Several of the fish had crayfish antennas sticking out of their throats, seems to be what they were feeding on today, didn't see much shad activity, but the shad could have been back in the coves as I fished main lake today and did not get back in the coves or creeks. Water temp 60-61.
  17. Thanks Jeff for the info, I'm looking at the map and there does appear to be quite a bit of Game Production areas in the NE part of the state. I may take a drive up there next week, depends on the weather. Left a message for the local wildlife officer in Britton, I'd like to talk to him and see what he has to say.
  18. Looks like a tough day, I watched the video of the weigh in for day 2 of the OMTT and most bags were 3-5 fish 7-10 lbs. total. They weren't saying much about what they were fishing, but shallow was where the fish were for the guys that talked. Winners had a 29 lb. bag and also had big fish at 7.02 lbs.
  19. Wow, I find it tough to believe that, and I am assuming that you are talking about the Elite series event held on Bull last spring, the B.A.S.S. anglers would not buy a license. (Not that I don't believe you Bry) it just seems crazy any of those guys would risk a DQ for fishing without a license. Were you seeing these guys and talking to them during practice or during the tourney?
  20. Too bad LSU did not pull off the upset, that would have really shook up the BCS standings.
  21. What sized weightless plastics are you planning on tossing? Just asking, because some, for example Senkos, are relatively heavy. Are you looking at just a 6' rod? Dobyns rods makes several light action casting rods, but they are 7' minimum. You might want to check out the Dobyns Extreme 701DX and 702DX. If you shop the online Black Friday sales those rods will fall into about the price range of that IMX.
  22. Thanks Jeff, did you hunt any of the WIHA areas around Aberdeen? Curious if they've all been cut like they were around Mobridge. I might go back to the northeast part of the state next week, but it depends on what shape the WIHA areas are in that part of the state. I'm going to call the regional offices to see what they have to say.
  23. Several of the teams are doing well, but others not so well, these folks are pretty good local fishermen, using these results as a barometer it tells me the fishing is still tough. Anyone get their magazine "Respoolin"? Curious if it has good local fishing articles. http://www.respoolin.com/News/NewsText/99
  24. Some interesting reading in this link: http://www.in-fisherman.com/2012/08/24/hybrid-black-bass/
  25. A pic of a mean and a spot I caught on Table Rock a couple of days ago. It's also my understanding that a meanmouth is a cross between a smallie and a spot.
