  1. That is a good pic.
  2. Up with the chickens this morning, threw my first cast a little after 0530. Had a great TW bite for about an hour, most came on the Gunfish, a couple on a Lucky Craft RC wakebait. Then once the sun came over the hill that bite stopped. Spend some time c-rigging, caught a few doing that but never could find a good bite on the bottom dragging stuff. Finished with 17 black bass, had some decent quality, nothing huge, but a fair bag of 15-17" fish. Did have one that looked to be about 4 lbs. come unpinned at the boat. On the trailer at 1145. Lots of bass and walleye boats on the water today.
  3. Mondo Tackle is now selling some shroom heads. Thumbs up or down? http://www.mondotackle.com/item/P018000519001241.html
  4. Tried it for the first time early this spring on Table Rock, I caught some spots on it, fishing it on a deep channel swing that came in near a flat. I haven't tried it during the warm months, but it might be worth a shot.
  5. That's a good philosophy Stilfisher, save, invest, and plan for retirement. If you get there and decide you still want to work, that's fine, but if you've got a nest egg built up you have options. Lots of people when they are young say that they will work through old age, but when you get older you may not feel that way and you may also be battling the physical and/or mental issues that getting older can bring. Plan so you have choices.
  6. Today's Benton County paper had a trolling article in the Outdoors section. In a nutshell, the guy was trolling in Shaddox holler through the trees using Bandit 300's. He says as long as you troll in a straight line the Bandits will deflect off the timber. He and the reported caught 20 crappie and a keeper walleye trolling one evening.
  7. Well I've got several reasons. not many wake boats or other floating annoyances, not as much development on the shores, much more scenic than the lower lake. For me sometimes it is not about the number of fish in the boat, but the overall experience. Hickory and PC are crazy on summer Saturdays. The fishing can be pretty darn good also.
  8. Looks like a load of fun, thanks for the report and pics!
  9. In the White, around Big M up to point 23, I'd say you're looking at 5-8 feet of viz. Some of the coves it's less, but in general it's pretty good viz for bass fishing purposes.
  10. Seems the Fin can't be beat, at least on the local lakes. Lots of wake baits out there, but from what I'm hearing from the folks here is that some of them are good, but none can top the Fin.
  11. Yep, I might head up to the Indian creek arm Saturday.
  12. Looks like the lake has come up a few more inches. More rain forecasted for Sunday. Dunno how much.
  13. Back in my days of living in the northeast, all of the trout in the lakes and streams for the most part back then were stocked fish. Using corn for bait was very popular, when cleaned most of the trout had corn in their guts, quite a few would also have cigarette butts. Pretty much a put and take fishery, so long term health of the trout was not a concern.
  14. Welcome fellow Arkansan!
  15. Had a guy out in his lake side back yard yell at me for catching "his" bass. At first I thought he was kidding, but he was serious. He probably would have flipped out if I had dared to place a crawdad trap near his stretch of shoreline.
  16. Only a 1/4" here in Bella Vista.
  17. One of the Bella Vista lake patrol folks would stop at the Windsor dam every afternoon and toss several scoops of "fish chow" into the water off one of the docks that are on the dam. The water would boil in a few minutes, cats and carp mainly. I'd think that a dock owner could buy some of that fish chow and toss some in the water every evening and it would not be long before you'd have a catfish honey hole. Probably would attract a few craws also.
  18. Yep spending a winter in Alaska isn't worth a thousand bucks or so.
  19. I was reading that the FLW is coming to Grand this weekend. Should be interesting, water is muddy from what I hear.
  20. I have only been fishing the Rock for 2 years now, so I will be interested also to hear what the veterans have to say. There are certainly a lot of shad this year in the White around Big M. Plenty of 13-16" fat healthy spots and a good population of 13-16" LM's as well. The LM's are fat and healthy looking for post-spawn fish and I am hoping these fish will provide us with a bumper crop of bigger LM's in the next few years.
  21. Curious if anyone has tried these on the Rock. I hate the Fin, yeah I know they work, but looking for something that is better quality and runs true out of the box. Rapala has a jointed floater that's 5 1/4", some of the ratings on BPS say it works as a wake bait, but will it work on the Rock?
  22. A band of heavy rain is moving in.
  23. Glad to hear you got a keeper. I agree with you on loving every minute, even on a tough day the Rock is a great place to fish.
