  1. I am glad to see them letting out that water, more rain in the forecast for later this week, hopefully we won't get a gully washer. I was poking around in the mid-lake area today waiting for a fix on my boat trailer. Saw a few shad floating off the bank at Joe Bald, so it appears that some sort of die-off is still going on.
  2. Sounds like time to break out the cranks!
  3. Great, I think we have enough to do it!
  4. Thrift pulled it off, kind of a snoozer at the end, no one made a run at him.
  5. They mentioned the extension Gates got. $4 million per year and a $25 million buyout. Man, D1 hoops coaches are getting some green. I only know what I see of Gates during a game, but I like his demeanor and the players seem to respond well to him. It will be interesting to see if Gates can bring long term success to Mizzou.
  6. Awesome! Folks, if you get a chance, spend some time talking to Spoony, he knows how to fish this pond.
  7. You could be making $2K a day! And from what I heard, the guy charging that fishes while he is guiding. What a country!
  8. The Spro one they were throwing is a KGB knockoff. From what I have heard you have to get on a waiting list to get one of those KGB's. I'm not going to do it.
  9. Hope you can make it. Canada, schmadada. 😃
  10. Based on what I'm hearing, I'd got to Toledo Bend or Rayburn before Ivie. Only way I'd fish Ivie would be with a guide if one was reasonable. I hear that guy that is catching those bigguns with Livescope charges something like $2K per day.
  11. The area from Big M to Panther Creek has been very tough this winter. If I was going out of Big M, I'd go to the left and would not start fishing until I got past Emerald Beach. If I was throwing the Ned, I'd fish the points, steep banks, and trees that were in 15-25 FOW. If you fish a spot and you're not getting bites and don't see anything on the electronics then you need to move. I'd be throwing a Keitch around too. Drag one across the gravel.
  12. Because the Piglets choked, and I mean choked. I think they set a choke record for having the biggest lead at halftime in SEC tourney history, but losing in the end. Didn't Mizzou beat Bama earlier this year? Hope they can pull it off again.
  13. Ordered a couple of 6th Sense "Trace" 5" swimbaits just a couple of days ago. $24.99 each, not too bad in the swimbait world. They weight just short of an ounce and you can get floaters, slow sinkers or fast sinkers. I haven't fished swimbaits or glidebaits much at all, but I plan on giving them a shot. I have thrown the River2Sea S Waver a bit, had a couple of decent fish follow it, but no hookups. They are reasonably priced and have good reviews on TW. I was watching how EE was working the bait, couple of twitches, then a pause. Same way Crews was working a Spro prototype on a recent fishing show.
  14. Floating this date out there to see if enough folks are interested. Nice pavillion there and plenty of parking. Please respond if this date works for you.
  15. We will try another date.
  16. We're dink fishermen, you'd whip us.
  17. Used to whack salmon on the head after boating them, it would stun them. You don't want those things with a mouthful of hooks jumping around in the boat. If you do it right it takes one knock to the top of the head, accuracy is better than force, nice sharp rap and they are done. Halibut guides carry shotguns, if their clients decide to keep one that is a 100+ lbs. they'll shoot them in the head before boating them. But before they shoot them, they'll harpoon them with a float attached to set up the shot.
  18. Dutch is so old he fished the White river before the dam that created Table Rock was put in. And the White river wasn't even a river when Dutch was a little tyke, it was still a creek. Dutch used to jump across it on his way to the one room school house. @Dutch
  19. At this point there is about no one wanting to fish this with the lousy weather and other commitments. I'll get with M&M and maybe we'll shoot for trying this again in mid-May.
  20. Guys let's cancel this thing. I don't know that there is anyone left to fish. Weather is going to be lousy. Maybe we can reschedule for mid-May, someplace like Campbell Point. There is a pavillion at Campbell.
  21. So who all is coming? If we get a few folks we can still do it.
  22. Well shoot, we are running out of people. Should we just go ahead and call this off?
  23. I believe various govt. entities paid $3.5 million to upgrade the Wolf Creek ramp on Grand lake to host BASS. BASS will be back next year on Grand for the Classic and that will be the third time since the launch was upgraded.
  24. Looks like it will be a rainy day unfortunately. Doesn't look to be any thunder until later in the day into the night.
