Regulated deer hunting has led to populations exceeding the carrying limits of the land. They are supplemented by farming and people feeding them for sport and pity. The population is due for a crash, disease is pretty rampant. And the damage caused by bumper damage is really too much. Insurance companies recover losses from a group of people they insure. And, people die from deer coming thru windshields or avoiding them. Much like the otters, sometimes things work too good. Funny story today around the camp while skinning a buck out. I made Dad reminisce about the time when there was no deer. Grandpa killed the first deer he ever saw. It was out of season and Grandpa took it just to have fresh meat to eat. That would have been back in the 40's.

I have a 6mm Remington aka .244 Remington. It likes a Hornady 75 gr bullet with some IMR powder behind it. Usually dumps its load inside, does not go thru. Dumped my buck last year in its track out of my Model 7. This year was all black rifles in the deer camp. I have built 300 Blk Outs for the kids and I have a new 6.5 Grendal to play with. Looks like 2 of us are going into extra innings for black powder season. Son in laws took home their first bucks in life, 8 and 10 pts. Special time in their lives, one shared the hunt with his young son and my Daughter was with her husband on his first deer/buck kill. Daughter and I have not been so lucky. That full moon late in the morning goofed up first weekend. Deer were moving a little better this weekend. Plenty of deer, just nocturnal and holed up when first shots were fired. Moved game cams out to the fields today. Keep an eye on them for the next month and monitor movements. Good times at the old deer camp.

But felons can't have guns. You have to give them crossbows so the neighbors don't hear them shoot. And take away the Obama phone so they keep it off FB

Maybe just fattening it up for the harvest..

The story just said there was signs that the deer had been living there a while. I am with Wrench, probably left a scrape in the hallway. I think the old Chipper had house broken the deer before he left. They really make good pets till rutting season, then its game on. May be why he was not in the house at the time the warrant was served. Dominate buck took over the bedroom and horned him out.....
-
If you put it on the net, people will see it. The fuzz watches it too. I wonder what ole Chipper was wanted for and what felony he did to get him on the list. Looks like a decent guy in the photos. Did not see any charges for keeping a deer as a pet in the bedroom. Could have been his friends deer. Neighbors must have been jealous of his lifestyle and rolled over on him. Waiting for the live local late breaking clip showing Chipper in cuffs doing the perp walk.

The felon in possession of firearms had a live deer in the house. The video shows the same deer and bobcat found outside his home and they were serving a warrant for poaching. His post on FB probably led them to him.

Best Turkey Breast I have ever cooked. Walmart bacon wrapped half turkey breast, pkg Lipton onion soup, pkg frozen seasoning mix(onions, celery, peppers), cup chicken broth. Instant pot for 30 minutes high, 20 minutes bleed off. Mashed taters and green beans with cream cheese. That turkey is moist and melts in the mouth, buttery smooth and flavorful. Melts in the mouth is a plus since the radiation and 2 cancer surgeries took most of the salivary glands. But I still have some taste buds. Happy 4TH year for me!! Cancer + 4 for me....

Maybe it was this guy... Same M. O. Looks like same buck and bobcat Wierd Freak in KY Found

But they wilt pretty fast in a choker noose. Thin windpipe.

My cousin saw a bobcat try to take down a young of the year deer one time during deer season. The bobcat lost. It all.... They are alpha predators and can grow pretty good size like the one in the pic. Hunters have been attacked in the woods while turkey hunting by them. Personally, the only ones I have seen were pretty elusive. And smaller than that one. And, I have been hunting a long time and never gut a deer in the field. I just go get the tractor or 4 wheeler and take it to the house to a nice clean processing area. Field dressing is for public hunting. But the time from field to knife is usually less than 30 minutes. Guts can stay in that long. Hang them high, gut them clean, skin if warn and not getting cold quick, or quarter and put in refrigerator if warm weather. Nice thing about a farm. And telecheck. Back in the old days, had to load them back up, drag them to town and check, then take back to farm to process or hang. So much simplier now. And better on the meat.

They were brining the road and mowing the median at the same time 2 weeks ago. Funny sight to see. And, it only rained. It snowed later on that week after the rain washed it off. They don't mow the grass all summer and the roads look like crap. Then they mow the frost killed stuff and it looks like crap. Some county roads, they have given up mowing at all, good places for deer to hide and attack oncoming cars. NFS has ceased mowing all of their roads in the SE MO areas, slowing being engulfed by overgrowth.

We have this guy at work that has swelled to 5 or 600 lbs. Krispy Kreme and other reasons for his disease. Every so often, weebles wobble and they fall down, at home. Seems like the local fire dept answers his lonely call to get his bloated body back up off the floor. And he texts us all that it happened. Firefighters earn their pay.

Black Friday is the start of a 4 day weekend for me. Normally leave out on Thurs. nite. Or duck hunting, or deer when alternative season picked up that weekend. Never felt the urge to shop. Cyber Monday is nice, can do that without doing it with a bunch of brain dead idiots. Thank God for computers.....

Deer season is late this year, so is Thanksgiving. C&R is always the second weekend after Oct 31 and ends 2 weeks before the March 1 opening. Duck Middle zone is normally the first weekend in Nov, but it fell on the second one this year, deer is the third. Turkey season in the spring is always the last 2 full weeks of April and 1 in May. You need a calender to follow all of this crap.

THIS IS FOR SERIOUS BROWNING COLLECTORS

Google the phone number, he has been on here before several times. Even has listed on Craigslist. Send him a text on your cell phone and see what pops up. Probably Hillary's Russian connection that started all of this spam off her servers. -
I went fishing. Not much better, but slept in later.....

Spring fishing is points or shallow bedding areas. Fishing varies, points, walls, channel drops, grass, trolling, or topwater if it seems right. Current is the key on Pickwick. They keep lake level stable for the most part, it never varies much due to the Tombigbee. Not a normal lake, fish are used to the current and stable. If that is out of whack, fishing sucks. I have the luxury of a friends lake house. The State Park near the dam offers camping, cabins, golf course, marina, and a motel on the lake. Several others in Counce, Savannah, Selmer, or Iuka. Resorts there too, just never paid much attention to them. I took a day trip down to Muscle Shoals but did not look into a place to stay. I usually get by just by being close to the lake, not on the lake. I enjoy tent camping if weather is nice.
-
Pickwick has been a favorite of mine, but this year has been the worst. Big flood early and something blowing thru every time down. Just got back from a 2 day trip last nite. Weather was nice and pre front. But the winter draw down was going on and lake was falling. Fishing was really slow. Only one decent smallie, 4 lbs and 3 oz right at the end yesterday before the storm rolled in. Guntersville has been fishing well I have been reading, but have not tried it yet. Cordell Hull is nice, Dale Hollow is on the list for next year. Center Hill gives you trout on the tail water, but the lake is tough. Muscle Shoal and Wilson Dam is also a target for next year, stories of big smallies there on the upper end of Pickwick. Weather is the key. Play by ear and don't make solid reservations and you can have a decent trip, somewhere.

I don't know much about your neck of the woods, but I have not noticed many Smarter Peoples around here. Most I see would drown like a turkey in the rain if their phones did not keep their heads down.

Looks like a long cold winter this year. I love this global warming, we just need less in the summer and some more of it in the winter.
-
Sounds like a double whammy there. Hang in there.

Bottom panel has cables that are under tension held by bottom fixtures. You would have to unwind springs to remove, not a home project.

Spray Silicone works like a charm. We use a new universal seal that screws to the bottom and makes a nicer, firmer seal.
