  1. Radiant deck heating would only keep your toes warm, think more elaborate.
  2. Thats a pretty good sale price on them, better get one before all gone. That 19000 discount is more than I would ever want to pay.
  3. I have a pair of the camo boot foots that I use for ducks and no felt areas. Have a new pair of the convertable stocking foots I bought in the fall when they went on sale to replace my Silver Labels I bought in 2000 that are starting to leak in the neoprene. I have been really happy with their products.
  4. Glad to see someone is finally having some luck.

    Now Open!

We have 2 here. I like the riblets and the mahi sandwich. Don't really ever think about wings when I am out looking for food to eat. If I want good wings, I will make them myself.
  6. While temps are a factor with fronts, it is the pressure change that affects the fish the most. Get a barometer and see how much it changes.
  7. Tell them to come over here, we are a refuge now. I was sitting out at a local fishing lake on Friday watching divers dump in by the flocks. Now we get a duck pushing front!
  8. How did they taste fried?
  9. Finding anything other than steel pellets would probably be impossible.
  10. I can reload metallic cartridges an see some savings as long as you dont consider time involved. I reload rifle ammo for accuracy more than savings. I have never thought about shotshells. Never really shoot enough to justify cost of equipment. Non toxic components ate hard to find also.
  11. Too late. I pulled the trigger on the upper the other day instead of wasting a day in the duck blind. 16" free float heavy barrel with a 3/4 handgaurd. Going to start putting it thru its paces tomorrow if the weather permits.
  12. There were tons of gaddies this year. Friends that made it out on a few good hunts were nailing them.
  13. I buy all of my seeds from a local farm supply. They buy the seed in bulk and repackage them for themselves and other farm stores in the area. As far as them being raised local, I have no idea, but have always had good luck with them. They also mill all of their grass seeds and are a local buyer. I have been in the plant when they were doing a run of fescue, a fairly interesting thing to watch. Most "professional gardeners" I know buy their seed from Gurneys, Park Seed, or Burpee. I am really sure they are grown in a place far, far away. Maybee even overseas. But they seem to have good luck. I save alot of seed when I can. Pretty easy to do with beans, peas, okra, squash, cucumbers, and flowers. Impossible to do with hybrids like corn and tomatoes.
  14. Man, I am glad to hear it was not me this season. Our season in middle zone is done and I did not even shoot at a mallard all season. I was only able to get out 4 times and killed a grand total of 7 ducks. 6 were on opening day. 2 days there was no shots fired. I was kinda wondering if a trip to the SW part of the state may be in order, but looks like it would be futile.
  15. I have a few charms like that I have picked up at yard sales and flea markets. I have a heron, seagull, and a big ceramic kingfisher that used to watch over the blind. I used to toss a single goose floater in the spread to break it up.
  16. Sticking with 10 is not being on the safe side, it is a game violation and a ticket. You can still use the magazine for hunting purposes, but it has to have some kind of block in it to limit it to only taking 10 rounds. That applies to any hunting, including predator. Or you can simply buy one that has 10 rounds or less to hunt with and use the other for fun.
  17. vonreed is right. Whittle you out a piece of wood and remove the base plate of the mag. Insert the wood into the mag between the coils of the springs to keep the follower from going past the 10 round mark. Or just use the factory SKS mag that was made for the gun.
  18. Look at the ballistics of the cartridge you are shooting and see how it performs. Look at the loss of energy and drop at longer distances and you will have your answer. 7mm Mag is pretty stout for deer around here. Who says you have to replace it, there is no law that I know of that only allows you to own one rifle.
  19. She is not much of a youth, her length of pull on her arm is just short. I had her shoulder up several short carbine bolt action rifles and they did not fit her naturally like the AR does. She did hunt with my Model 7 this year, but when it came time for a shot in the field, she did not shoulder the rifle up right and missed. The 7mm 08 would be an option if I had a AR10 lower. All my lowers are the short action ones on the AR15. That is why I was looking at the 300 blackout, about the same terminal performance of a 308 winchester with the same equipment as the 223.
  20. Does any on here have any experience with the 300 Blackout? My daughter has shown an interest in deer hunting and I have to build her a rifle. Her size and stature works better with the adjustable stock on the AR platform. I want something with more punch than the .223 and am leaning toward the 300 blackout. It uses 223 brass cut down and reformed, and the only difference is a barrel on the upper. Mags, buffers, receivers are all the same as 223. I would like to hear from others regarding its performance. My understanding is that is has the same characteristics of a 308 win which should be more than enough for deer.
  21. I always figured they only sliced and packaged it, never knew grinding was part of the share the harvest package.
  22. Hunt down a pirate perch, its an interesting little creature. We rolled a few out doing a project on the Whitewater River System in college. I kept one in an aquarium for a while and fed it live creek minnows.
  23. So you give the poor unfortunate the crappy stuff?
  24. Slice it in about a 1/2 inch thick strips and bread it with your favorite batter then deep fry. You would be surprised how tender and juicy it will come out.
  25. Then there is a possibility that it is a mottled duck blown up here from our southern coast. That would explain the white wing outline of the spec and the hen like color.
