  1. Have you tried any of them yet? Looks like a good ned rig bait
  2. Side by sides. Everyone needs one of them to hit all of the gravel roads.
  3. Headed out Sat. Morning in a damp, cold drizzle with the jet boat and gear. Ended up at Van Buren that evening, still overcast and chilly. Dropped boat in at town after checking into motel and run up past Raftyard. Fished a slough and several good spots drifting back. Picked up a pike and a few bumps. Not much going on. Had a nice dinner at Los Margaritas on the river and went down for the nite. Forecast was calling for rain by 1 pm on Sunday. Woke up to a bright sunny day and decided to hit Greer. The river was up some and we run up. 2 guys in a canoe were heading down to Turner at the ramp. Original intent was to go up warm part of river to try for smallies, but it was too low to make it up. Dropped back to mouth of spring branch and trout fished. Caught about 15 each, but they must have stocked. All were dinks about 8-9 inches. I decided to trailer somewhere else with the 1pm deadline in back of my mind. Put in a Doniphan and ended up catching a few smallies on the tube jig. Tried trolling for walleye, but they are probably done. Not a hit. Best fish was this little 19" feller. Pulled out ahead of the raindrops at 2, NWS was off by an hour. Nice getaway. Only other boat on the rivers was a shoal runner that thumped his way down in front of us at Doniphan and back. Few canoes on the Current above Van Buren yesterday and the canoe on the 11 Pt. Enjoy this time of year.
  4. Shame there is not some standardized app that brings it all together. Corps info, TWA info, USGS info are all ones I use. What we need is something to drag more people out on the water and crowd it.
  5. What color are your toenails today?
  6. Its small enough that it usually just keeps us and a few grandkids going. Salads will be here first of May. Freeze peppers, beans.
  7. Just started using it, but I like the weather overlay. The old list view is pretty handy. The old mobile app was clunky, hated having to use it's back button instead of the devices button. Device button took you off page and had to start over.
  8. Once raised beds are set up or a garden spot is made, $100 should be a max expense. I will probably spend $20 in seed and $30 in plants this year. Will have fresh salads, tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, peppers, and squash all season. Last fresh green salad mix I bought was $4 a bag and a head of lettuce $2. Do that once a week, cost savings adds up.
  9. Interesting "new" water data site. Many different overlays. Seems sluggish but still "experimental". Just started playing with it today. USGS Water Dashboard
  10. Still too early for warm crops.
  11. Zaxby's here shut down because the employees were a joke. Was eating out of the drive thru here during the Covid Shut down. First one I ate at was on the Tims Ford trip. Chicken Ceasar Salad was great.
  12. Not really sick til a Doc tells you what is wrong
  13. I have ordered some screen bottoms to give me a better look at mites and beetles in hive. One keeper lost 45 of 50 this winter. Commercial keeper that supplies my nice and queens said worst winter loss in long time.
  14. ER sucks, and it is expensive. Insurance hates them. Made for the bad stuff, need to be dying when you go there. My original visit with the cancer was to the ER, advised to do so by my dentist that laid the news on me. I walked into the ER and asked to see the Oncologist on Duty per his instructions. I received special treatment and maxed out my deductible that one visit. The rest was on my insurance. They actually passed me on to Wash U in St. Louis instead of trying to get my insurance dollars there. It saved me. I still use their prompt cares for any minor thing.
  15. Strawberries looking good. Added a few gutter runners to see how they work. Lettuce, spinach, radishes, and sugar peas going well. Pole beans breaking ground in other bed.
  16. Total wipeout this year. 10 hives lost to winter or something. Tore into them this March when the weather got warm, mostly small clusters of dead bees with lots of honey to feed them. When I was thru, I was left with one hive that seemed to be doing well and one with just a handful of bees. I made a futile attempt to save them, but they failed. Went to pick up a new fresh hive of bees on Monday. Rained Tuesday afternoon, so I did not open my other hive. I opened it yesterday and found the queen had died in it. Picked up a new queen shown above in the little cage with her attendants and inserted her into the hive. Hopefully, they will accept her, eat the sugar candy plug out of the end of the cage and release her. Have 3 days to wait and see, a week or more to see if she has started laying.
  17. Hospitals are full of sick people and hi tech equipment. Good for the big stuff. Urgent care is for the sniffles and easy stuff. Full of low paid nurse practitioners. My Cancer Dr had me go to them when I needed a script. Beat the drive back to St. Louis. Just went in, tell them my problem, get my script and go. Did not meet one that had ever saw what I had done to me. Even went back and the same NP was there, forgot she had ever saw what I had done to me. BTW, its best to know what is wrong with yourself before you go into one.
  18. The South has been hammered with torrential rains. All tailwaters are high down there.
  19. Maybe you could find a portable one and enter it in the kids science fair this year. Sounds like more fun than the paper mache ones from when I was in school.
  20. What does that French Broad look like? Easy jet boat fishing? My fishing buddy will probably settle in Chattanooga when he retires. We are planning on things between here and there. Have not hit the Knoxville areas yet. Liked Cordell Hull, Center Hill was ok. Tims Ford and Normandy were a little different but there is alot of Duck River in that area to fish. East TN is good scenery, but the TN River in West Tn has been pretty productive.
  21. Dam Hillbilly, you don't put your bubble bath in those things. Those are just for a hot rinse.
  22. Been thru there a few times but did not fish. Spent some time on Tims Ford and Normandy Lake a few summers ago.
  23. TN is nice this time of year. A few weeks ahead of us.
  24. Has that black tail thing going. TN causes that. Probably nuke material leeching out of the watersystem. Pretty common in TN. Never see that around here.
  25. Wading or did you drag the jet?
