  1. Just looked over the company for the first time. They're solid -- earnings, revenue growth, free cashflow, balance sheet all look really good. Will the price keep going up? Heck if I know. 44 times earnings is pretty rich.
  2. Thanks for the offer!

They're good with beer, chocolate and shotguns.
  4. Those Jackson kayaks sure look sweet. The portability is a question mark for me though since I'll be car-topping. Also, a boat that is specifically setup for one activity, with all the decisions (storage, seating, etc.) already made for you, means you're giving up some flexibility. But I'd sure love to give one a try sometime. I think Justin at Sunburst has a few in the stable... New Royalex canoes have gotten pretty expensive the last few years with the supply of Royalex drying up. Then there's used...
  5. Have no fear...
  6. oneshot: you're a helluva a man to have come through that and have a wife, family and grandkids to hang out with. Good on you.

....Biting too? It's worse than I thought
  8. My pepper plants were behind a row of onions -- finally starting to see some better growth now that the onions are laying down. A few Anaheims and bananas. Live and learn
  9. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Cubanelles. I've always heard good things about them. As for the romaine -- seed companies never lie, right?
  10. Compliments of ness, Food Stylist. Rattlesnake and Kentucky wonder beans; gooseberries; Sun Gold tomatoes. Almost every one of the Sun Golds was cracked -- I turned them all good side forward. It's what we do. I've picked about 3 quarts of black raspberries to date. BilletHead: While I was picking the gooseberries, I came up with a way that leaves the stem on most of them. Grab the berry between the thumb and index finger, in the crook of the fist knuckle, and rotate your wrist away from you. I'd estimate it worked about 75% of the time. I'm calling it the ness twist.

    World Cup

Whatever the pros or cons aare of the sport itself, it sure has reached a new level of popularity in the US. Especially so in Kansas City. Sporting KC has been extremely successful, both in their performance but also in filling seats and all the other things that go along with a well-run sports franchise. There's a ton of buzz around town on this World Cup, and the Power and Light district, in particular, is packing them in for the games.
  12. Sounds good! I like the idea of serving it with a sweet salsa too.

    World Cup

Yeah, yeah I know they go a long time and thats hard. My post was largely tongue-in-cheek. Their athleticism is phenomenal. It's the fakery that's over the top. Yesterday I saw a guy get kicked in the hand -- didn't look too bad--his hard hardly moved. But he dropped to the ground, grabbed his face and was screaming. That's a guy trying to draw a call, not somebody catching his breath. Accepted? Maybe. But I still saw it as BS.

I hear you there GD. A tie means they both lost. And what's with the writhing in pain when you get bumped and fall down? I've never understood that. I've seen REAL football players get a limb snapped in two, get up and run/hop off the field. Weenies.

    Who's Reading What?

I did the audiobook of Atlas Shrugged a couple years ago. It was a struggle for me to get through.I think the format was partly to blame. I didn't want to commit to a book that big, so I took the easy way out. I figure since I didn't pay my dues and read the book, I haven't earned the right to spout off about how deep and meaningful it is. Plus, I didn't get large parts of it. Seemed part Econ class, part soap opera.
  16. I hear you, JD. I'm not an organic nazi, but I do try to minimize the chemicals. My cabbage and collards we just devastated this year. Too little, too late on the Sevin, and I pulled them out today. Loopers, slugs and pill bugs all through them.
  17. It's an old heirloom. Good flavor and pretty reliable-- if I get them started early enough and keep them watered. I've done white icicle several times -- they're good too.
  18. Dang -- there are a few good folks left in the world! Congrats on getting your stick back.
  19. Yep, Wayne. From a few weeks ago -- my favorite radish: French Breakfast Here's a few things from today: Raspberries coming on: Beets fer pickling Shallots
  20. Wasn't it about a year ago when everybody was yakking about the A-rig?? Old Plug -- I see where you're coming from. There's nothing new under the sun.
  21. She ain't dead. You thinking of Joan Bayou-ez?

    Smoked Pig

Yeah, scraps on a bun have been around a while. SOS is a variant, right? First NC style I remember around here was at the old KC Masterpiece.

I figured you'd pull something out of your bum to show me up.

I'm pretty much with you, Wayne. I've had Carolina style and I like it, it's just not my favorite. Not to take away from what RPS did, for sure. There's probably a little bit of KC pride mixed in there too. I used to think slaw on BBQ was just a bad idea, and refused it for a long time. Then one day I tried it -- and it's darn good. Things are changing though -- 25 years ago you wouldn't see pulled pork in a KC joint, you wouldn't see burnt ends outside the area, and definitely no coleslaw on a sandwich.
