  1. Didn't know you'd gotten the sheep. Funny, they're running away in the second picture. Did you let them know some folks from the forum are coming down?
  2. Lemme ask a question: If you could catch a bunch of 19-inchers from your Barcalounger, with a canteen full of Tito's at your side, the dayshift from the gentlemen's club (preferrably around the end of the month), and a pocket full of singles -- would that be a spiritual conversion?
  3. That's me too. I never keep, so the dang regs are pretty easy for me. And, no I didn't buy a trout stamp. Non-resident (but MO taxpayer) is enough $$ from ness' pocket each year.
  4. I think you're a wise young redneck. The answer was way back on page 1 (I think), and has been repeated a number of times since then. That's the way things work around here. [spoiler ALERT] This will end up with nothing being done by anybody about anything.
  5. Gimme a friggin' break.
  6. Good plan, Mein Führer . Where shall we start?
  7. I like your grandma's style!
  8. Yeah, it is senseless, but I don't think it's the world at fault here. Other articles I read say she was a troubled individual whos husband had been pretty concerned about her behavior lately; and she'd been seeing a therapist for depression and after expressing suicidal thoughts. Any off-the-cuff mention of suicide should be taken very seriously. Some folks just can't cope, or can't see any other way out.
  9. I heard a third-hand story of some being found around Truman Lake.
  10. All this warm weather has me thinking about getting some stuff started a little early. I think I'm gonna get the snow and snap peas in the ground today, and start to harden off some of my lettuce and cabbage seedlings too. Got some new EMT conduit verticle supports to finish painting and some compost to spread around this weekend too.
  11. As soon as I buy me some legal boots I can go fishin
  12. Nah, just go to the boss and ask him to have your crew take care of your wife until you're out. That's all the child support she'll need. Capiche?
  13. I'm with you. This pounds/inches/fish per unit of time stuff is not my cup o'tea.
  14. Sorry -- just saw this response. I agree -- pulling a license isn't a huge deterrent to the habitual poacher, just like pulling a driver's license isn't going to stop someone who wants to drive. My point was really that the 'point' system Gavin referenced didn't seem to punish too severely, allowing more than one severe infraction before losing privileges. The possibility of multi-year or lifetime loss of privileges would be a deterrent to 'decent folks' though. BTW, the MO non-resident hunt/fish license I just purchased was $142 including the 'internet convenience fee'. I think that puts me in the 'decent folks' category.
  15. Make that, SOME of you guys.
  16. You guys are over-thinking this.
  17. If it's the fish that gets the record, they'd record his/her name in the record book.
  18. I usually get KS hunt/fish and MO non-resident hunt/fish every January. Just didn't get the MO one done a couple years ago, but remembered it the first morning of a fishing trip in April. Had to get a late start fishing because I had to go to town and hunt down a place to buy one. It does happen.
  19. Hey -- like the new signature. Lends some credibility
  20. You know, I hate a poacher as much or more than the next guy. But I'm not gonna go off on this feller without knowing all the facts. I know this will be difficult for some to understand -- because it's so popular to convict with the first 1% of the information -- but this guy prolly just goofed up or didn't have the dough to buy a licence this year. Dude was fishing in a no-name spot, caught a biggun mid-day, mid-week, and tried to cover his tracks by buying a fishing license a few hours later. He wasn't a lifelong poacher, apparently, since he bought a license last year. I see nothing that makes me think he's not a regular guy that just farked it up, so I'm inclined to give him a pass. He's got the AR record bass, a bunch of photos and press to back it up, and great stories to tell the rest of his life. He oughta admit he screwed up, laugh it off and start shopping for endorsement deals.
  21. How is that Coosa going upstream in a little current, Justin?
  22. You think those bad-boys could handle the whitewater up at Myron's place? I hear you can do class III standing up in one of those puppies.
  23. Since we're all being real open with our feelings, l believe I'll chime in with a few thoughts: 1) Wayne said nothing more than he didn't think it was all that impressive. Hardly an attack. It really wasn't sooo impressive. Maybe re-watch the video? 2) Dudes don't call dudes b******. It's just not done. B*****s are b******s, not dudes. Do I need to send you a manual? C) Saying a real good paddler said it was impressive isn't exactly rock-solid evidence for your contention. The video is the evidence. 4) Stoneroller: I see you've got a business. If you want to look like a real business, and not some internet stalker, I suggest you insert your real name and phone number right above 'Owner/President'. 5) ...then, hit the enter key and delete either Owner or President. C'mon, man -- You're a guy with a kayak and a web site. 6) I see you have registered with the Secretary of State. Congrats James, that lends some credibility to things. No hard feelings fellers, but when you come in here with an exaggerated statement, lose your cool, start name calling, and resort to challenges rather that well thought out arguments you're just not gonna fare well here. Good luck with your venture.
  24. Looks like it usually takes two offenses, one a major one, before you lose privileges for a year? Those penalties seem pretty tame if I'm reading it right. Doesn't seem like much of a deterrent, but I know there are also fines, etc. 5 year loss of privileges seems like a nice deterrent to me. Second offense maybe lose it for life -- because you're too stupid to be allowed out there with a gun or even a fishin' pole.
  25. You do know how averages work, right? Some higher, some lower. And, fines aren't the whole story anyway. Look at the big picture, and I think this is a pretty good bit of news. The only thing I'm upset about is Craig won't answer the phone so I don't know when my elk mount is gonna be ready
