  1. I had to google this--I wasn't familiar with the business. I was glad to see it isn't a chain. Good to see somebody delivering top-notch service--there's not enough of that these days.
  2. Not so sure these are dead -- the bill tracker doesn't show anything new. Here's what I just sent Senator Muzzie: "I'm a Kansas resident, but work in Missouri. I also hunt pheasant and quail, and fish for bass and trout in Missouri. I've purchased non-resident permits for a dozen years or more. I think SB56 is misguided, and has the potential to ruin conservation efforts in Missouri. The conservation work in MO far above what we're able to do in KS. It's the envy of most other states. And the way it got there is through leadership by a non-political commission and the ⅛ cent sales tax. Your bill, and some of the others I've seen, appear as if the legislature is attempting to wrestle control and money away from conservation, but no real benefit is outlined or even expected. It's easy to take ad-hominem shots at a government agency for excessive spending. MDC surely has its faults, but the good it is doing seems to far outweigh any negative I've ever read. Like the old saying goes: 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.' I hope you'll pull this bill from consideration, and help defeat others that are aimed at gutting MDC. Sincerely, John Gotti, III"
  3. This going downhill fast ?
  4. Done and done. Your move.
  5. When the ice thaws? Next time you're in KC let me know and we can try to figger something out.

    What's Cooking?

Googling... Plain old chili tonight. I think I hear the microwave beeping right now!
  7. If the bill passes that pays $500 to every driver that hits a deer, I'm quitting my job and opening up a deer ranch and an Enterprise rent-a-car franchise. It'll be like printing money!!!
  8. Definitely Talon. The name is way cooler.
  9. Yeah, Mudslinger is walking this back a little now. 'What? I didn't realize this would harm the conservation efforts.' He's a dipschit. Kudos to the Post Dispatch and all the others for shining the light on this.
  10. Lol! Yeah, the 'cut taxes and watch the economy EXPLODE' experiment isn't looking too good right now. My daughter is a first year teacher, and I have a niece that works in mental health for the state. They're both seeing first hand what the cuts mean for real people. And, yeah, I've heard the waterfowl hunting is great here, I just haven't done it. The last few years I've fished strip pits on the MO side, but have access to some in KS this year.
  11. It's not as pitiful in Kansas as you may think Justin. There are a million+ acres of Walk-In Hunting available to anybody who can, well, walk. There are a number of reservoirs that provide fishing opportunities, and are surrounded by public land. And of course, as I'm sure you know as a native Kansan, it is teeming with the King of Upland Birds -- the wily, noble and delicious pheasant. MO with its hundreds of conservation areas, cool-water streams, world famous reservoirs, Ozark topography and the Baldknobbers are undeniably awful special though.
  12. I'm not too surprised. First and foremost, the bills are just dumb and bad for Missouri. Plus there have been a growing number of editorials the last couple weeks that are making these guys sound pretty petty and uninformed. Here's one I saw today.
  13. I agree -- put the criminals in nursing homes. But I think we should forbid them from playing Bingo. But, that's just common sense.
  14. I read the article. I say off with his head. Next.
  15. You can become a member and buy or sell seeds to/from other members. They have thousands of varieties on their exchange. Their retail web site will take anybody's money though.

    What's Cooking?

That looks outstanding!! I've got to get out and find some chanterelles. Did a shrimp, andouille and chicken gumbo today. Did the roux in the oven this morning and made extra to keep in the fridge. I've started using a poblano instead of a green bell. Just like the flavor better. Chicken stock for the bulk of the liquid, but I always make a quick stock out of the shrimp shells and add that too.
  20. What a pig!

    What's Cooking?

Good looking sammich! What's going on in the spread? Mayo-based plus something?
  23. It's easy. John King of the World
  24. Interesting reading for me -- I had no idea you guys were running boats that fast. One question: when you say "GPS" speed, is that what it sounds like -- what your GPS is telling you your speed is?
  25. Wow -- $29 for a hair packer? I haven't tied any of these is a long time, but I just used a Bic pen with the guts removed. But I'm cheap.
