Yep. That's the way I look at it too. I've seen more pheasant and quail this year than I have the last couple. NC Kansas, NW Missouri.

Yeah, I've heard of the flesh fly. Never fished one. Seems like folks were talking about fishing them below a cleaning station, or something, a few years back. Like Power Bait, rubber worms, corn, eggs, globs of yarn, spinners, Purina Trout Chow, whatever -- trout will eat stuff you wouldn't expect. I've never heard of a predisposition of trout to eat flesh after a spawn.

Don't know if this helps Phil -- but I don't block ads. They're not that obtrusive, and the ad blocker I tried for a while seemed to be causing a few problems so I canned it. I click on one occasionally as my way of saying thanks for the forum

You've got to pin most of this on the o-line. Smith's a decent quarterback, and Charles is a great running back. They were both smothered most of the game. I just think the matchup on the line was poor that night. We've got a decent line.

Britts -- I work in Grandview, and that whole IHOP thing is quite a phenomenon. They've built a lot, taken over a shopping center, and their members have moved in from around the country and bought up houses. Wayne -- that's going way back! Farthest thing back in JOCO I remember was when Metcalf around 95th didn't have anything but the 'French Market', now a closed K-Mart. That predated 435, and I remember when they opened that up. Any action at Circle J?

It was relatively rural when we moved here in 1990. Not so now, and I really miss that. No major problems in the schools though, and yes there's a 'Resource Officer' at the HS full time. Not sure about middle school, none in the elementary that I know of. Daughter just started teaching this year in the district. A few weeks ago they had 'active shooter' training on an in-service day. It wasn't just sitting in a room looking at Power Point slides -- they brought in several cops and acted it out as realistically as possible. She said it was pretty intense. We've got sparkly new buildings filled with all the latest crap, which I suppose most rural schools don't have. But in the end it comes down to the teachers, parents and kids.

We get that in the 'burbs, too, but differently. Population outgrows the school, so they have to build another. Then all the lines shift and somebody always gets screwed and has to go farther. My daughter went to 5 different grade schools, but they're all within a few miles of each other.

Hi Txdave, I fish primarily the smaller rivers and streams, with an occasional trip to the parks. I typically use an 8-1/2 foot 4 weight, and could go lighter than that. For Taneycomo, the White, etc. you'd want to size up -- I'll let the experts guide you on that. I bought a couple Cabela's rods for my boys a few years back (8-1/2, four weights). They were two different models, but the one I like better is called a Traditional II. Nice looking, good components, and a slightly slower action. I also bought a couple cheap Cabela's reels -- one was plastic and the other painted metal. They work, but I wouldn't buy either for myself. My reels are all Orvis Battenkills -- nicely made, traditional look, Orvis no BS warranty.
