I've got to say, that was pretty exciting there for a while. I was able to listen to it on the AM radio (just like the old days!) from about 10 minutes before the end of regular time to the end. That 19 year old coming in for the first time and scoring a goal within a couple minutes was really something. Howard had a great game, but it kinda highlights how weak we are. Can't wait for 2018!!
  2. I don't think I've ever seen wild past the green stage? Good to know. I've mostly had the green/tart kind in pies, which I like. I've still got some coming on, I may pick some green ones for a comparison.
  3. I think the color depends somewhat on the variety. Are you picking wild, or are you growing them? Mine are 'Pixwell', which are a little less tart and get purple as they ripen.
  4. Good for dad!
  5. I read an article on them today -- said they're often used as a replacement for poblanos. I'd never heard that. I made some Étouffée last weekend, and used a poblano instead of green bell pepper. I saw that in a recipe online, and I'm not a huge fan go green bells, so I gave it a try. It was really good, and gonna be the way I do it going forward. Interesting to think of Cubanelles along those lines too. So, I was out on the estate tonight, doing the ness Twist™ and here's what I reaped:
  6. Nice fish, nice write up. Sounds like a great trip. Was it your daughter fishing the princess rod?
  7. You know how to tell an Italian goose? They don't honk, they say 'Badda Bing' and wear a pinky ring. Looks great, Marty. How would you describe the flavor of the Cubanelles"?
  8. What kind of tackle do you guys use?
  9. 50 times earnings......
  10. I wonder if they have some technical advantage that sets them apart? I don't know anything about them, but if Apple and others can put a video camera in a phone, it seems like the technology is pretty mature. Apple's sitting on a zillion dollars in cash. I suspect if they wanted to make a run at little video cameras they could/wouold.
  11. Just looked over the company for the first time. They're solid -- earnings, revenue growth, free cashflow, balance sheet all look really good. Will the price keep going up? Heck if I know. 44 times earnings is pretty rich.
  12. Thanks for the offer!

They're good with beer, chocolate and shotguns.
  14. Those Jackson kayaks sure look sweet. The portability is a question mark for me though since I'll be car-topping. Also, a boat that is specifically setup for one activity, with all the decisions (storage, seating, etc.) already made for you, means you're giving up some flexibility. But I'd sure love to give one a try sometime. I think Justin at Sunburst has a few in the stable... New Royalex canoes have gotten pretty expensive the last few years with the supply of Royalex drying up. Then there's used...
  15. Have no fear...
  16. oneshot: you're a helluva a man to have come through that and have a wife, family and grandkids to hang out with. Good on you.

....Biting too? It's worse than I thought
  18. My pepper plants were behind a row of onions -- finally starting to see some better growth now that the onions are laying down. A few Anaheims and bananas. Live and learn
  19. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Cubanelles. I've always heard good things about them. As for the romaine -- seed companies never lie, right?
  20. Compliments of ness, Food Stylist. Rattlesnake and Kentucky wonder beans; gooseberries; Sun Gold tomatoes. Almost every one of the Sun Golds was cracked -- I turned them all good side forward. It's what we do. I've picked about 3 quarts of black raspberries to date. BilletHead: While I was picking the gooseberries, I came up with a way that leaves the stem on most of them. Grab the berry between the thumb and index finger, in the crook of the fist knuckle, and rotate your wrist away from you. I'd estimate it worked about 75% of the time. I'm calling it the ness twist.

    World Cup

Whatever the pros or cons aare of the sport itself, it sure has reached a new level of popularity in the US. Especially so in Kansas City. Sporting KC has been extremely successful, both in their performance but also in filling seats and all the other things that go along with a well-run sports franchise. There's a ton of buzz around town on this World Cup, and the Power and Light district, in particular, is packing them in for the games.
  22. Sounds good! I like the idea of serving it with a sweet salsa too.

Yeah, yeah I know they go a long time and thats hard. My post was largely tongue-in-cheek. Their athleticism is phenomenal. It's the fakery that's over the top. Yesterday I saw a guy get kicked in the hand -- didn't look too bad--his hard hardly moved. But he dropped to the ground, grabbed his face and was screaming. That's a guy trying to draw a call, not somebody catching his breath. Accepted? Maybe. But I still saw it as BS.

I hear you there GD. A tie means they both lost. And what's with the writhing in pain when you get bumped and fall down? I've never understood that. I've seen REAL football players get a limb snapped in two, get up and run/hop off the field. Weenies.
