If it took you 25 years to break a rod you're either freakishly careful or not fishing with kids enough. In either case Dr. ness prescribes the following treatment: Buy a new rod. Don't try to fix the old one, and don't buy a cheap one like these other tight arses are recommending. Treat yourself! It's been a quarter century!! If you need, do some mathematical justification. Buy a $1,000 rod that lasts your previous average of 25 years, and you're only talking $40 a year. You could blow that much on a couple trips to McDonalds. Do it!! You're welcome in advance.

Don't know what to tell you but I will say this: Keep in touch, and/or go see your friends and relatives often. It's hard to do it face-to-face right now so give them a call. Had a friend I worked with for ~25 years just pop into my head the other day. Hadn't talked to him in a little more than 2 years and made a mental note to give him a call. The NEXT day I got an e-mail saying he had passed away. 72 years old, so not a young guy by the numbers, but not old either. Still sharp as a tack and had a lot of life left in him.

Fried chicken, mashed taters, gravy, corn (under gravy of course), green beans. Probably my favorite meal.

Sometimes things just get jacked up. I *DID* buy a toilet paper roller a few years ago. Searching old orders and this shows up: Love the 'Frequently bought together' part Also love this:

Bank of Dad sure brings back memories. Used to have a Bank of Dad account for each kid. Even printed them checks. Allowance went in the ledger, needed to write me a check for a withdrawal. They’d always ask me how much they had and they’d be so surprised how it added up. Couldn’t get them to turn over birthday or Christmas cash after a couple years though. Anyhoo, tried a new recipe tonight from Chef John at Food Wishes. Love his recipes and videos. Creamy Bay Scallops and Pasketti. Used whole scallops and quartered them. Sautéed with butter, garlic, lemon zest, red pepper flakes, sherry, parsley, heavy cream, lemon juice, Parmesan and more parsley. Tossed in linguine. Good schtuff and will do again!

I've got 10 tomato plants going. Tallest is about 5 feet tall. Smallest is about 10-12 inches. That little sucker has looked weird almost from the start. It's supposed to be a Black Krim but it's either mislabeled or just a bum plant -- the other one I bought that same day looks great. The little one's getting crowded out by the ones surrounding it, but that silly thing has a single tomato on it, which is lying on the ground. Gonna let nature take it's course on that one. Lost about ⅔ of my last gooseberry bush last winter. Took a living branch and have it rooting in a pot. It's actually got gooseberries on it. Will probably cut it off from the mother plant soon. When I checked about a month ago the roots were doing nicely.

Rarely have the gumption to make biscuits from scratch. Never really cared for the canned biscuits. Used the frozen ones this time. Big improvement. Put therm in the oven frozen—no thawing required.

Catch ups. ½ a strip steak, ½ a tater, and a whole back yard salad: Sketti with a quick sauce of crushed tomatoes, white wine, red pepper, oil. Shrimp, Parmesan. Oh yeah, back yard salad: Posole, guac, more freakin' back yard salad: Something to get the taste of salad outta my mouth -- an order of gizzards!

I searched the web over and thought I'd found true love... But, my last pass at tacos al pastor left me wanting... ...So I struck out on my own. I pounded some chops thin, made a marinade of orange juice, chipotle, adobo, herbs, salt, sugar, etc. (I wrote it down ). Had a fresh pineapple that was dead ripe. Grilled the chops, then the pineapple slices and simmered the left over marinade. Lightly grilled corn tortillas until just less than crispy. Sliced the pork and pineapple thin, loaded the perfectly done tortillas and drizzled the sauce over the top. This gets a double dang!

Scroll back a couple pages -- you'll soon find where it got out of hand

I thought it was better than the other by a hair. Matt Damon's character wasn't right, but I really liked the movie overall. I really like the Coen brothers stuff, except when I don't.

Do I Really Want A Boat?

Why do I get the feeling that this deal is, somehow, gonna fall through? -
That fish just looks....uncomfortable. Like it needs to burp, puke or visit the loo.

For years the KCMO police department has said they didn't have the funding. Had a foundation step up this week and make it happen.
