  1. Yeah Bassing Bob has put together a really cool event. Would love to do it one day but you have to put up some serious coin to participate... And the spots go fast! Always fun to follow though!
  2. Bump and price drop to $175... Really want to get these sold!
  3. I know it's not fishing related, but I thought someone here might appreciate these. I have a pair of Vintage Budweiser Bar Stools for sale. These are pretty rare from what I can tell from internet searches. They are in pretty decent shape, definitely usable condition. There is some surface rust on the metal base. I've actually cleaned some of this up since I took the photos below. The bottles on the base are in excellent condition. The upholstery is also in good overall condition. These would make a great addition to any man cave or bar. Asking $175 for the pair. Cash or PayPal only. Local pickup only (St. Louis). Shoot me a message if interested.
  4. Awesome stuff!!!
  5. That first one is real nice!!!
  6. Great looking pics Pat! Check out this company for some products that I think will help with battery life issues... http://yolotek.com/
  7. Our place is around the Tan-Tar-A area
  8. Wrench has been there! You guys are welcome If you do head over, give me a heads up and I'll give you a few other good crappie spots in the area to try. Its unbelievable how certain spots reload every year. We are lucky to be situated right one one of those spots!
  9. My father-in-law and friends caught probably 50-60 keepers off our dock alone this weekend. They only fished minnows. He had one 15"+ white crappie and a couple more in the 13-14" range. Most were over 10". Our dock is near the back of a large cove and sits in 10-15' of water with brush all around it.
  10. Very nice fish! The fall bite seems to be turning on... Mitch caught this nice one last Friday while we fished with Hog Wally!
  11. Hell yeah! Congrats... That was a tank!
  12. Yeah I believe it was 18.5" and thick as could be! An awesome river fish!
  13. I'm one of the guys that changes out stock hooks on just about all hard baits. For wiggle warts, I currently use Mustad KVD Short Shank trebles... Size 4 on the belly and 6 on the tail. Gamakatsu and Owner are also brands i use. My reasoning being the same as Champ and I have more confidence when I have quality hooks and split rings on my baits. Plus it gves me something to do in the winter and when I'm not fishing
  14. If I was fishing it, I'd be skipping and pitching a 1/2 oz jig or throwing a WP, Buzzbait or WTD topwater. Everyone always thinks a big swimbait will be a factor but I just don't think LOZ is a great swimbait lake for whatever reason. You may luck into one with it, but I don't think it gives you the best odds.
  15. Mark is one hell of a fisherman and still does extremely well on LOZ... But I'd venture to say Marcus Sykora is widely regarded as the best tournament angler on LOZ these days. Never met either of them but if you look at the standings in most tournaments over the last 5 years, Sykora is almost always at or very close to the top. I'd also say that the Bassing Bob website has immensely helped the popularity of COG baits on LOZ.
  16. I had an 8" goggle eye as a pet in college... He could eat 10 goldfish quicker than you could blink your eye. Very cool fish for the tank cause they change colors all the time.
  17. I'm a big fan of the COG buzzbaits as well but like you said they have the skirt/blade issue. They have a huge following on LOZ. You could try changing out the skirt with flat rubber like Dave suggested or throw a horny toad or swimbait on in place of the skirt
  18. Great report! Sounds like a squarebill, fluke, or swim jig would work well on those dock bass. Great information for someone just looking to get bit!
  19. Great info Bill... Thanks for sharing!
  20. Way to adjust! That's one of my weaknesses on the water... I get hard headed sometimes with trying to catch them in the places they are supposed to be and the baits they are supposed to be hitting. I need to learn how to adjust better on the fly if my initial pattern isn't working, Well done!
  21. I'd say that's a conservative estimate!
  22. Awesome picture! Wish I had information on a good bite for you to try but I haven't been down in a few weeks. Kids are almost back to school and the temps will start going down. Good fishing is right around the corner!
  23. Nice one! Thanks for sharing!!
  24. As far as color you want some opaque and translucent options. Translucent for clear water and opaque for water with some color. Keep it simple. You really just need the belly to be white, clear, or black. The fish will see the sides of the bait a little. The action is what's calling them in way more than the color. All of your gear options will work. Mono is probably the best option for topwater since it floats and will allow the lure to work freely. Braid also floats but is so limp that it can often get wrapped around the trebles and ruin your cast. Another con of braid is that it has no stretch which I want when using treble hooks. I prefer casting gear when standing on the deck of a boat, but I usually prefer spinning gear when in my kayak or wading. Basically when I'm standing and can twitch the rod downward or slightly to the side I prefer casting gear. When i'm sitting or standing waist deep in water I often have to twitch my rod tip up or to the side and spinning gear makes this easier. Just a preferance. I throw either 10 or 12 lb P-Line CX Premium on casting gear and 8 lb on spinning gear for all treble hooked topwaters. For larger walking baits i throw 15 lb on casting gear. One last thing, I always use a clip or split ring on my walking baits. Allows the bait to move freely side to side. Hope this helps!
  25. Just curious who make up the STL7???... Increased by 2
