  1. On the ones I caught while targeting White bass in Oklahoma I was using my 7wt TFO BVK 10'throwing sink tip. It will outgun the 8wts I have now. Would not have minded a bigger stick on the biggest blue I caught. My go to throwing 450 grain sink tip for hybrids is a 9' 9wt BVK. On top or light flys for those fish I will drop back to my 7wt BVK. I do have 10wt that I caught striper on, and I have used it on hybrid when throwing my big balsa topwater stuff. Not too often though.
  2. Dave @Ham told me you could throw a ten-inch streamer with a one weight. You need this so you can cast a Volkswagen to tempt one of those alligator gars to bite
  3. Nice Bret and that boy of yours sure can grin!
  4. Very neat Daryk! Thanks for the update. I had been wondering what was going on with this project.
  5. Would be a hoot. Go all caveman starting on top of the beast and butcher our way down to the ground.

  7. And HYBRIDS thank you very much :). Although it would be neat to spear a mammoth with one of my knapped points.
  8. Crows do eat everything. They will peck the eyeballs out of newborn sheep and other young animals. Omnivores eating what they can. They have a mob mentality and group of them throughout time have been given names that reflect this. What is a Group of Crows Called? (Strange Background U Should Know) - AnimalsPick
  9. I hope you all know that the new early season for Racoon, opossum and skunk is now open. August 1st until October 15th. They are out of control will less and less people targeting them. Those three stooges tear up more stuff around here. On the first shot a coon with the air rifle. Last night a coon in a trap, night before last a coon and possum. bonus groundhog today. Tear up bird feeders, hummingbird feeders and anything else they can get into.
  10. Yes, but you better be darned sure you have the proof. Put your best layer in its mouth making sure the teeth have made an impression in the chicken. Be sure not to leave any fingerprints on the chicken. I hear MDC has a pretty good CSI squad 😁. Mountain Lions May be Killed Under Certain Circumstances Although there are no hunting or trapping seasons for mountain lions in Missouri, the “Owner May Protect Property; Public Safety” rule specifies that mountain lions may be killed under certain circumstances:
  11. I agree there is climate change happening. today and tomorrow, it's going to be hot. In January it's going to be cold compared to today.
  12. Nope by slaves taken from all over the Roman empire.
  13. Baby steps. Rome was not built in a day.
  14. Not john but just the links show up Dave.
  15. Correct it happens and we hear about it every year. In Welding class, we used to take a small aluminum can like pudding came in. Put it on edge of the welding table. Shoot some acetylene in the crack where it came over, then a shot of oxygen. Light the cutting torch head and reach way out and touch it off. OH MY that can would blast off to the high ceiling and bounce off. Very loud ear hurting boom when it got lit. The now top that was the bottom would bend out. A mini rocket! Looking back, I have no idea how any of us came out of things we did without getting hurt.

  17. Been doing that for years. Gives an Umami flavor. The coffee grinder is as Alton Brown would say is a multi-tool in the kitchen. I had a biology teacher that was quite the showman. He would have a Bunson burner in front of him going. He was talking about medicine men and witchcraft. Pretty soon he made a motion towards the lit burner and whoooooooosh a billow of bright fire appeared. Told us he had palmed some mushroom powder and pitched it into the burner. Said pollen would do the same. Was an attention getter for sure.
  18. The smoke adds another element to the pepper, but IMO does not subtract from the flavor. This is just a coffee grinder. An extra one dedicated for spice grinding. Not an expensive tool for the kitchen. I grind all kinds of spices in it. I took honey and added the various pepper dusts to it. Everyone tastes like the pepper infused into it. Go lightly until you know how much you want. A little goes a long way. All that is missing is seeds and moisture.
  19. You bet Mike. This stuff is great. Hope you enjoy it.
  20. @Ketchup @Maverickpro201 and whoever is interested. I know for sure you two like peppers. This is what I do, and I think you should try this. I also like peppers. Some heat but the flavor is mostly what I crave. I do this with Jalapenos, Serranos, habaneros and others. I think my favorite is using poblano peppers. Any you choose the steps are the same. First split and gut peppers. No seeds and little veins. Don't worry the flavor will be concentrated and you will still have the heat. Put them in the smoker. I have run mine in a Bradley smoker using the expensive pucks but now run in Trager using pellets of your choice. I run mine 165 for a low Temp on super smoke. For several hours. Pulled they look like this, but you can go until they get hard and crispy if you want. These now go into a dehydrator for a day or two until they are crunchy and I mean crunchy dry. This is important for a good grind. Out of dehydrator ready for the coffee grinder. This is what went into the smoker! can you say dry? Throw a bunch in and spin! VID_20220809_165701929.mp4 Do not and I repeat do not take a good whiff of this. VID_20220809_165726087.mp4 Jar it up tight. Uses are endless and it only takes a sprinkle. Eggs, popcorn, seasons everything. Smoky pepper goodness. You can thank me later
  21. Above the lake, USGS Current Conditions for USGS 06921070 Pomme de Terre River near Polk, MO Below the lake, USGS Current Conditions for USGS 06921500 Pomme de Terre River at Hermitage, MO @MOPanfisher can tell you more but the way I see it on upper part of the lake only went up a few inches and is on way down, Below the dam besides the normal discharge from lake (that varies) is not much and I only know of a second drainage below lake that is also going down. According to gauge there it only varied a couple inches too.
  22. This is where the gray area is. The word commonly is up to who decides to what that is.
  23. No, I have not but have heard they do enforce. We have problems with illegal activity around here. It has got better but still ongoing. Whole deer minus the head pitched over bridge rails. I put two and two together and know of one person that did it. No proof but know where the mounted head is. Neighbors dumping burn cans in the creek with plastic and everything that will not burn. Each day a large sonic cup pitched out the window in the road from another neighbor on way home. I finally said to the husband hey be on the lookout for the person doing this. We should get that stopped maybe call the law. Funny it stopped when he shared that with someone in that household.
  24. We have all done that at one time or another. As I matured and began to care about resources a change came over me. I look at things differently now.
  25. Oh I am betting it is and I do wish we had someone would cover this. The things I have witnessed on deer especially. I know there is gray areas. Deer shanks are tough and I would say there are given a free pass, but I have cooked deer shanks osso buco and they are good. Effort is put into the dish you are rewarded. A good grinder can make easy work of that cut also for burger but not everyone of us has that option. States vary also. In Montana that have some of the strictest game laws you are required to keep pheasant, duck and goose legs. I keep very few here but @curtiscedoes a bunch and good job at that. I have not though saved duck tongue, but he has! Speaking of the wobbly bits I have a can of foie gras he brought us home from France. Got to try it.
