  1. The first big fly rod poppers I made were with treble hooks in the back. Way back then I really thought I needed them for better hook ups. They did work well and gave away several. The stories about the 14 foot boat, fly rods and the blitzes were with the treble hooked poppers. Told the gifted I would not be responsible for accidents. I have decided a nice big B10s hook does well and that hook dressed up will wiggle like a tail.
  2. Yes tick checks can be fun but here is the common sense for the tick thing. I have a dedicated set of clothes that I spray and maintain with permethrin. When I plan on being in the woods I put them on so this is common sense. So like that when I am going to be around folks I do not know I am using common sense again and put on a mask. Common sense again. When Pat goes to work and before she enters the clinic she puts on a mask and it does not come off until she leaves the building and gets in her car. Common sense again. Maybe we should be wearing a racing helmet when throwing heavy poppers and streamers? More common sense? 🤣
  3. Here is why, Media has a dog pile mentally sometimes depending on the top news stories. When things are a hot topic in the media here we hear just that. When all is quiet here we hear about other things in the news. Right now the dog pile mob is in one fight and more digs are jumping in on both sides. I am ready for the water hose to come out and spray them down. Both sides.
  4. Even the country folk are not in places. Our small town America is not being careful. I know it is a choice, heck I want a choice but denial over common sense is not going to cut it right now.
  5. Go try the Lamar City lake.. Redear in there also. I have only been there once but managed some 10s on the fly rod.
  6. Thanks Rick and sorry to hear that your loved ones have got it. The doctor Pat works with said we had 30 more positive last week up here. Folks are not being careful here.
  7. Up in our area Rick?
  8. Some guys have no idea don't tgey Glenn? Fun times. I have hit Pat in the head as she has me. Part of the experience for sure. Would not trade those memories and trips for anything.
  9. I only wish I had videos of those special days. Still happens but in a 17 footer now.
  10. All I can say is I take it none of you have been in a good hybrid blitz throwing big poppers and streamers with a fly rod in a 14 foot boat. Fast current too. You aren't living until this is experienced. Two guys at same time throwing.
  11. Just incase you guys may of forgot this. I remembered reading something about it and looked it up. Two pages worth,
  12. No one pinned anybody. You made that choice. You stop it!
  13. I did not demand your response. I asked but you made the choice to respond. I did not take offense to opinion because you had no opinion at all or did I miss that?
  14. There was no demand I simply asked your opinion. You made the choice to respond. Put your big girl panties on and straighten up.
  15. So you seem to have an opinion on everything on OAF but don't seem to have on on this subject? Thus it is all right to debunk others opinions? Just who is full of beans? 🤣
  16. So did you read what I actually thought on my theory? I simply repeated what I read about them being trapped.
  17. Good question. I know for a fact where I fish for whites no matter water level they seem to drop out after spawning. Hybrids stay with the food source all summer long if they have food. They follow the food source. So my theory is the cooler water stripers like can be found in that river.
  18. Some will but there are pods of them that actually become trapped way up river.
  19. Stripers are not native, Trout are not native. Eat them both and enjoy them.
  20. Still grieving some here @FishnDave and @ness you both Win!
  21. Hey Dave you were out and enjoying yourself! Just that means great success. Fish catching is the bonus.

    What's Cooking?

That's a fact! We have a tribe or offshoot that have tractors with thin tires. Solid no air. Electricity in some houses and a business. For all I know they could be older order Mennonite. The ones I have visited with are real nice. I think besides horse and buggy the tractors are family transportation. One in seat and one on each fender not pulling machinery just going down the road. The ladies wear colorful dresses.

  25. Yep sorry about the idiot. Accident I know but could of been avoided. Trees all over are stressed on high dry places. Several in my yard are not doing well at all and I am afraid a couple will die. We were blessed with 7/10s yesterday.
