Hey Wrench, Think these pencil poppers will work? May have to test them soon. I think they will throw better than a wide mouth short popper, BilletHead -
Pond report, fly line review and a tiny fry report

Have not had one do that yet but when the casting gets the best I will check for rotting . BilletHead -
Been having fly fishing withdrawals. My favorite river is a mess and most ponds I frequent are dingy to muddy. I needed to try something. We will start with yesterday. Mrs. BilletHead had an appointment in the metropolis of Springfield yesterday. Had to go to Plateau for supplies. I wanted to get a new 7wt fly line. I am partial to Rio Outbound short but they did not have any. Ty suggested I try the new Scientific Anglers Mastery Titan. Similar to the Rio with a big head for throwing big stuff. Said if I did not like it bring it back. Story about my 7wt rod. Have you ever got a line and then bought a rod to match it? Lets go back three years. I was given a 7wt line for a freebee. Did not know the brand as it was a line given to the shop to try. Told me to overweight a fast six weight rod or put it on a slow eight weight as I did not have a seven weight. Well I thought crap I need a seven so I bought one to go with free line Backassword I know but I am kind of that way. It worked fine but it was time to replace the line. So I changed it out last night. Poked around home this morning and finally decided to hit my favorite pond for a try. Got there to find murky water with visability about five inches and a howling wind.Went to the side with the best break in the wind and strung up the rod. Just had on muck boots. Wished right then I would of had my hip boots. Kind of late for top water but wanted the noise of that in the murky water. I had finished up a few more balsa fly rod baits a couple days back and one of these was a tiny fry so I tied it on. This was a small one just an inch and three quarter body sized. The new line threw it fine even fighting the wind. With no wind I will be able to throw nice big streamers and bigger poppers and fries. I really like this line. Fished about a half hour. The bass liked the tiny fry really well with multiple blow ups from the same fish until they hooked themselves or I made the just right strip set to hook them myself . Brought five to hand and missed another four in that short time frame. Got my temporary fix. A couple of the fish and a shot of the tiny fry. Todays fish liked the fry stripped pretty fast with little or no pause between strips. This was also one of the best days for acrobatics. Each fish did multiple jumps which I have not seen in awhile, BilletHead

Gooseberries . Lettuce patch going to annuals or perennials? We don't mess much with annuals. In all of our flower beds we have mixes of bee balm, pale purple cone flowers, other cone flowers, black eyed susan, obedient plant, coreopsis, gayfeather, butterfly milkweed, and a new addition I found a place to dig shasta daises and they transplanted real good. The Mrs. likes blackberry lilys and they are scattered all over too. Some mulching and a little maintenance and the plants spread on their own. BilletHead

Fish stick fridays! The best was the lemon, grape or orange juice bars they used to have. The BilletHead is old and that was a long time ago. Bet the lunch ladies still look the same, BilletHead

HAIL CESAR salad that is, The BilletHead's decided for a salad this evening. Used the romaine we grew in the garden. Even made the Cesar dressing from scratch.Yep with anchovy's and raw egg yellows. Not too shabby we say, BilletHead

-
When he uses the Dang word it means something . Haven't seen him use it with peas yet. That should tell you something too, BilletHead
-
That ain't nothing. Lets see it with those creamed peas you all are ranting about . If it wouldn't make me gag I would make you the pea slush in the blender. BilletHead
-
Naw you don't have to ruin alcohol to have you drink of pee, I mean pea. Just throw some ice cubes in your pee, I mean pea soup. That or blend your bag of frozen peas and have a pea slush. There you go Ness go to 7-eleven and request they put in a pea slushy machine . BilletHead
-
Remember to take those frozen peas to chill your drinks! BilletHead
-
I like you and bet I would your Grandma but I don't like creamed peas! BilletHead

Dang! Good public service announcement. I have friend who lost the use of an eye due to a two ounce egg sinker. When the Osage was big one year he was cat fishing. Got his rig stuck in a willow tree. When he tried pulling the rig back it loaded the line and yep right in the eye! ,Thanks for the reminder Phil, BilletHead

A bag of fries, Good to get the creative juices flowing. Poppers and shuttlecocks too. Got these boxed up and sent out to a friend yesterday, Another popper ready to paint eyes on and when dry the epoxy. The balsa ones are a combo of hand painted, sprayed and stippled. Everyone is a bit different. No stencils used, well kinda there is some butterfly netting used in some , Four you all that voted for Mrs. BilletHead in if you are so inclined thread I will get all your names in a hat and draw one of you. Winner can have a choice of a shuttlecock, fry or popper. Thanks for doing this, BilletHead

Yep you will have a good crop of rocks in Arkansas. The armadillos will help you find any bare dirt available. The way they are spreading you may have a few up your way now. At first they were fun to see here. Now they are a major pain in the rear. When you build the barge for the move South load it with some of that soil. Drop some off for Ness and the BilletHead as you go by . BilletHead

Ok wise guy! You are so full of it but you forgot a few things like my deck is prettier than yours and the rest I will let slide this time . Lancer like Ness said we like Black Krim heirloom. Stein, You put our raised bed wannabee gardens to shame. Ness should be picking on you not me. Hear that Ness Stein is building a boat too . Maybe he will build a barge and float his crops down to his place in Arkansas! BilletHead

Appreciate the update JD, Still thinking positive thoughts from BilletHeadVille. Mrs. BilletHead was offered a special burn cream during radiation. She did not need it as she had younger skin that took the burns pretty well twelve years ago. This being said there were older ladies going through the same treatment she visited with daily with that burned and blistered pretty bad. Ask for the stuff if you need it. BilletHead

I bet you have even taken a pea off that old cracked deck, BilletHead

Good looking greens John, Ours is still going and maybe getting ahead of us eating it. Found some little green striped beetles on some heads. After picking some gave a small dusting of seven dust. Some of our tomatoes are looking real well but some kind of dismal. This sun and heat will make them go I hope. BilletHead
