  2. Up and clear, I posted a report on the Sac, Little Sac thread on here, BilletHead
  3. Made a scouting trip yesterday to taylor. Never been there before and thank you to Bill Butts for directions. Did the run from Vernon County. 70 miles one way but it was worth the scout. I caught a few right under the bridge. Now to todays trip. Buddy and I got up early, hooked up his small jet boat, made the run and launched pretty early. We were the first boat but there were four kayaks and a small flat bottom getting ready. Several people up and down river with fish on there stringers. We ran up and started fishing. Hammered them. I threw a gray over white clouser size 4 and 2 on the fly rod. It is all I used and quit counting whites when I hit 70. Best day ever I think I have had for white bass. Also caught a keeper walleye and two largemouth. One of them was about three pounds. the whites hit close to shore to out in the middle on the bottom, some even striking as I lifted the fly out of the water. when we left seen all four kayaks, three canoes, flat bottom boat and another jet rig like I was in today plus a two man pontoon bass hunter type boat. Bookoos people on the bank. This was about 2:30 when we quit. Fis bit all day long and there was nowhere we did not catch. Concetrated on the holes and runs below riffles. We did explore and got close to the 215? bridge. Did go under the old railroad crossing walk/ bike trail. Better get out there but I bet it will be a zoo this weekend, BilletHead Released everything so go get them.
  4. Throw enough flys and a suprise now and again is nice. Such a nice day the Mrs. and I went to some new ponds we have never fished. They were real low until the recent rains and now they are up into mowed grass. We found clear and very warm water in a cove. We started stripping some large #2 and #4 buggers in 4 to 12 inches of water and bass city it was. Caught a dozen or so and then a big swirl and this channel cat hit. I catch quite a few each year on the fly, fun times, BilletHead
  5. Thanks guys, forgot to mention caught about a dozen white bass and two big smallmouth while catching the walleye, BilletHead
  6. Not to sure where to post this report. It is the Sac River but not above Stockton where most fish. I will tell you it is below Stockton and above the 82 Access near Osceola. Water temp 43 degerees. Flavor of the day was #5 shad rap in shad and crawfish colors and a small countdown rapala minnow. We caught eight and kept seven, the other was a keeper but the guy with the tape measure (me) did not read it right Six of our fish must of been out of the same year as they were 3.5 to 4 pounds. Eggs were bloody and seperated and this bunch will dump soon, males were milting. We did have the fly rods but kind of slow and I was fish hungry so never got built. Mrs. Billet Head will have a grilled meal when she gets home from work. The fish with my fishing buddy. Pulled up to a gravel bar for the snap shot. BilletHead
  7. Prayers sent to you and your family Oneshot. This internet thing is quite the tool. We read and invest our time in each other on here. Kind of like family we all are. It may be fishing, hunting or something like this that brings us together. Bless you Brother, Mr. and Mrs. BilletHead
  8. Nice looking pup you have there Jason, Yes I told my wife our dog was for her too Spend a bunch of time with the dog and you will be rewarded by the best fishing partner you could ever imagine. We rescued our dog sadie from the humane society and she would just fit into my two hands. She is now eight. Spoiled she is, wish she would retreive my waterfowl but too much cattle dog in her. She will round up the grand kids though! BilletHead
  9. Nice fish! I hibernated and tyed flys for the upcoming season. Stayed on this site enjoying everyones reports. Mrs. BilletHead is good company on her days off too BilletHead
  10. Thanks guys, forgot to mention they work on tany trout. Messed with them for a short spell once. Bet they would work on a shad kill drift. BilletHead
  11. What crappy weather this morning. Good time to share a good pattern. This is an epoxy minnow. I have been using this for about two years now. I got the idea from another pattern but have yet seen one quite like this. I use it mostly for crappie but have caught white bass, channel cat, walleye, some monster bluegill and other species. Thread color of choice 6/0 jig hook #6,4,2 lead wire krystal flash if you desire fox tail is my first choice followed by craft fur or marabou flat braid pearl is the most versatile but any color will do five minute epoxy rotary vice is a must Step one Attach hook and mash the barb if you want. Start your thread and attach several strands of crystal flash and cut them to length, close to a shank length. Two wrap on your lead, size it approximately to your hook thickness. Add a clump of tail, fox in this case. Three Attach the pearl flat braid. On the size two and four at the tail, size six will be only one layer so start it at the front. Wrap a layer to the front and then back to the tail and whip finish. Four, not to the fun part Time to let your imagination flow in colors. Sharpies or markers of your choice. Color the head, spots, stripes anything you want as soon the colors will pop out. Add some small sticky eyes or not. Five let the epoxy flow I use five minute devcon. It sets up pretty fast. Make sure you use an epoxy that is clear. In time you will figure out how much to squeeze out, just get enough as once this step is started there is no turning back. Get it mixed and start applying the mix turning the vice and spreading it back and forth. When you get a nice even coat keep turning and tru to drag some towards the head. You will see it will try to belly out in the center and I like more towards the head end. Soon it will start to set.. I think you will go through a few until you get it right. They are real fun to fish either strip it back or under an indicator. I like a thingambobber my self. Enjoy, BilletHead
  12. Thank you Duane, I am waiting for my heart to slow down now, BilletHead
  13. It is nice to hear a young man giving a a gift to all of us. Thank you flyrodman for whatever you decide to do, Mr. and Mrs. BilletHead
  14. Good luck to you Mic, Stress is right when you make such a move. Mrs. BilletHead has been employed at one place for 23 years. Some things happened at her work so she put her feelers out. Called a place and they said no openings but sent in an applacation. She sent it in by snail mail and in two days got a call to please come in for an interview. They want her and she gave her two weeks notice. She will start the new job April first. I guess it was ment to be. Again good luck, BilletHead
  15. Same up here Chris. Looking out the back window had a bearded hin pitch into the food plot. Stepped outside and had four more hens in the driveway. A tom sounding off in the woods too. Had to get out and hit a pond with the flyrod. Caught a bunch of bass on the pig farm lake while ducks kept making passes . Listened to spring peepers all night while sleeping on the porch. Feels like Spring to me also friend! BilletHead
  16. Nice Matt, Thanks for what you did and what you will be doing. I am a lifetime member Called a Missouri "at large member" I live no where close to anybody But a member none the less. Good luck to the new chapter! Marty
  17. Ooooh I like this too but what can't I have them all? Ok my overall choice just for fun times. Shotgun, rifle, handgun Shotgun Kayak, boat, canoe Kayak River, Pond, Lake River Flyrod, spin, or baitcaster Flyrod Lure Shadrap Fly Wooly bugger Color of Jig Shad gray or white (minnow color) Color of plastic craw/worm Black Live bait or lures Lure Only catch Smallmouth, Crappie, Largemouth, trout, catfish, panfish Panfish because if they are to be cooked I can get them all in a pan so they at one time will be panfish. I will leave your smallmouth alone but if we are fish hungry for the trip spotted bass or other tasty fillets will be released to the grease, swimming one last time in crisco bay.
  18. Neat Ronnie, We had a green sunfish once. He got real excited at night when you went to the front door. He would boil the water waiting for his evening snack. We would catch moths at the porch light and feed them to him. It got to the point where he would come out of the water and take them from your finger hold. BilletHead

  20. I told the joke. I got a grin and the evil eye at the same time from Mrs. BilletHead. Wonder what that means? She says she is my wife and girlfriend at the same time and I know what what that means,,,,,,,,,,,
  21. You bet ya Chris and If I know of things firing up on the river you will get the call. Stockton generation will be off soon as they will be doing gen work. A year and a half worth so we will be at natures mercy rain wise. Come on rain and flood gates! BilletHead
  22. Ever seen anyone with carry six bigfeet, three on each arm? Well Mrs. BilletHead does it pretty well. Another great hunt and I think it will be our last for the season. As bird watcher says turn out the lights and it is time for us here. We got our six birds out of little flocks. As were picking up the big groups wanted in big time. As I was making a trip back to the truck I counted a hundred swarming the Mrs. I got back and here eyes were as big as silver dollars, she kept saying did you see that? hahahaha I shot a few more pictures as were just sitting there talking about the morning and our season for the year. I am a lucky fellow and it doesn't get much better than getting to do this with your best friend and wife of 36 years. Thanks for letting us share some of our season with you guys and another thanks for my friends on here who let me pester them from time to time Mr. and Mrs. BilletHead
