    What's Cooking?

Deer, mushroom and barley soup. Cheddar herb biscuits. This was ready when Mrs. BilletHead got home from work. She was happy and this makes me happy, BilletHead

  4. Hobby Lobby is where I am getting my balsa. Last hooks I ordered are CK74S SS Mustad . Any popper hook will work just size the hook to your quarry. BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Man o Man you guys. I need to get with the program. I'm with Ness on RPS. He is my foodie hero. Ronnie did you clean up your mess? BilletHead
  6. Gramps it is 30 minute epoxy. Dried on a drying wheel. There is a couple of threads on here posted where I explain the process, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Looks yummy Ness. I made some with goose breast. Turned out great. We are kind of in a food rut right now not trying anything new. Seared deer back strap with oven roasted red potatoes Saturday. Seared mallard breast yesterday with mashed potatoes and green beans. I suppose with the weather like it is I should do something creative for Mrs. BilletHead this week. I don't mind cooking and making a mess but dislike the cleaning up. BilletHead
  8. Thanks Ham, I will try to get more photos and just how Richard made it. I know one thing it sure saves rods from be smashed and bashed, BilletHead
  9. Decided to try my hand at sliders. Used basically the same method as I do on the poppers. Don't have to dremel out a cupped face. Some flat back and some slant back. Here is what I have so far. Have another five in the works just trying to figure out what color that they need painted. I am liking the slant backed dished face ones the best. I am hoping on a nice long strip they will dive and dart. May be awhile before I can do some water testing. The bath tub test just doesn't cut it BilletHead
  10. Yep what Wrench said. Well done, BilletHead
  11. Patience Mr. Wrench, I will take some photos next time I see Richard. With this weather coming it may be awhile, BilletHead
  12. Thanks guys. We are really excited about using the rig this year. A week ago yesterday we did some more riding around and put 32 miles on the boat. Still more motor breaking in. That is a boring process. The specialized rod tray is all Richards idea Although it is BILLETHEAD APPROVED. BilletHead
  13. Yes I took it this way tongue in cheek Al but again with all this talk on and off about stream access wading and canoeing it kind of got me riled up. Discriminate about an idiot and you discriminate us all. If it a place he really shouldn't be he will pay for it tearing up his rig. I love your passion for creeks and smallmouth but me Joe Public and all the Joe Public's shouldn't be chastised and kept from our waters. Forgive me for being grumpy last night. Kind of like seeing your access laws you have in Montana compared to what the Mrs. and I deal with when we spend our two weeks in Wyoming. So much more fishable water you have. I would never hope you loose what you have up there. Speaking of which we are planning on spending the bulk of our time in Montana when we go this summer. If I may I will be picking your brain for places we don't know about, BilletHead
  14. Boy I don't know what the problem you might be referring to on this river but I would never out of all the folks on this forum expect this from you Al, We need a friendly landowner and somebody with some earth-moving equipment to dump a bunch of really big boulders in some fast-water area of the Mineral Fork to put a stop to that crap. This would be like throwing out nails on the road or stringing a rope across a trail to close line someone, BilletHead
  15. I after our trip last year know what you are saying Cody. I want to thank you for sharing it with Richard and I. Glad your new boat worked out for you. BilletHead
  16. Ha I bet you did wear out that place. Bad thing is you did not catch in the good spot. Imagine tripling or quadrupling your catch if the other spot was on. I will also make sure Richard remembers your invite, BilletHead
  17. Thanks for the report fellows, Sorry Ham it wasn't as good as it was last year for Richard and I. Bet you guys had a good time none the less and I missed going this time. I enjoyed the play by play when Richard called me on the phone as you were pulling them in! Funny thing is I recognize that log in the first photo. BilletHead
  18. It will for sure be added to the arsenal Lancer. BilletHead
  19. DaddyO have enough for one more good batch. PM me your address and I will get it to you, BilletHead
  20. Nice lancer. Thank you but a trade was not necessary. Will take anyway! Teal, teal?I don't see no stinking teal. Wrench wants teal? You will be first in line next season.someone beat it to you this year.
  21. you are very welcome.
  22. Thanks Roland, It is really simple. Started out just brushing and stippling, then rattle cans with butterfly net for a stencil. Now not using spray paint but a copic marker spray system, brushing and stippling combo. It is a couple of lengthy reads but my journey doing this is covered in these two threads, BilletHead
  23. Thanks gentlemen, What Ronnie? You wanting those junky hooks?
  24. Might pass this along, Cabelas has what I think is a pretty good deal on popper hooks. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Mustad-Signature-CK74S-SS-Fly-Hooks/1170112.uts These are stainless steel hooks. I just got in my order. I did two packages of 2/0 and 1/0 They are just a tad shorter than the ones I have been using but have a wider hook gap which I like. Here is a comparison. What I have made with the same hook below it and then the 2/0 and 1/0 CK74S SS Mustad I just got. Here are a few of the ones I have been doing since our waterfowl is done and I am warming up for fishing, And some for the spin fishermen, BilletHead
