  1. My mom is in assisted living with dementia. Says the same thing about the food and like folks suffering that it's like a broken record skipping and skipping and we hear the same thing. We have been to dinners there and are welcome to daily meals if we let them know ahead, we are coming. I have had some of the food and it's not bad but would not want it every day. I try to take stuff from the garden once and awhile. The residents there are very fond of fried green tomatoes. I was told the old folks there that are of sound mine and just there for assistance partake in a sip or two of wine and spirts. I am in no hurry to get there but sounds like @fishinwrench is pushing me to look forward to ending up there🤪. I told Pat she must send me to a place like that when my mind goes south. Face it to the guys here our spouses outlive us guys. I tell all of you reading this make sure she puts me out to pasture if needed then you all can wrestle over all my vintage cast iron and my other treasures!

    What's Brewing?

It is a bunch to use in Meade. I got seven gallons this season. That roughly translates to 84 pounds.
  3. You are so welcome for the pen. Thanks for the feedback. Might have to make Doug the lightweight version .

    Ho, Ho, Ho

That is a very interesting tree @rps! Pat wanted a wreath. I made her the wire form, and she got creative. Thought she did a great job.

    What's Brewing?

Thought I would shift the Meade making here instead of the Beekeeping topic I started. Some folks don't look at all the forum topics but do stray into the food threads more often. We had three bottles left from our first batch from March 6th. Was our first brewing attempt and we just did a gallon. We opened one of those bottles a couple weeks ago. It had mellowed out and did not have the bite it first had nine months ago. Very impressed. Started another batch May 30th. This time three gallons. First rack it filled two full gallons. We just left it alone until today. Let's bottle it Pat said. VID_20221218_103327566.mp4 This turned out to be 20 12oz bottles and a bit to sip right away. Good but still has a slight bite that will mellow. Only been 6.5 months since it was started. This has been fun and will probably do again. Only thing I really don't like using the honey from my bees. Takes a bunch. Another addition I know @ness has some brew going at the moment too .

    What's Cooking?

Pat got a gift certificate at a local market for Christmas for 25 bucks. Thinking we might get a nice ribeye to split there wasn't much to choose from and they were 18 dollars. Got one anyway to eat last Thursday. While looking in the meat case there were very thick pork back loin steaks wrapped in bacon. I can tell you the ribeye was not so good. Very bummed as a matter of a fact. Well, we tackled the pork today. Did a sous vide bath at 140 for an hour. About halfway through that I split a butternut squash and pat gutted that. Seasoned with butter, a little brown sugar and a good sprinkle op smoked plabano dust. Into the oven to cook and soften up. Out of the sous vide came the pork and into a hot skillet of goose fat to sear on all sides, VID_20221218_140410478.mp4 Plated with bean greens. The pork was very juicy and had a pink blush. This is the kicker those thick bacon wrapped loin steaks were only 2.50 each. Good buy and very tasty. I will be going back tomorrow and get a couple more. A note about my smoked plabano dust. Been using it mixed with sugar instead of cinnamon on buttered toast or English muffin in the morning for breakfast. That stuff is the bomb
  7. Interesting John. I can see it if there are native runs up the tidal rivers to spawn. The deal is the ones stocked in the land locked lakes are introduced. Is there White bass native that stripers can naturally cross within the system?
  8. If they are in their respective ranges no problem. Are you upset I could really care less about your carp?
  9. May I add take care of what we have and do your best to help control nonnatives and kill invasives when you are allowed.
  10. I did not name anyone. I have hit Pat with clousers and she has me. Eye for an Eye I say but not with a hook involved. Glad I wear glasses. She is about to that point full time now.
  11. P.S I do manage to catch some nice fish though anyway you look at it .
  12. Some of us have a longer learning curve than others. I was totally self-taught. Still make mistakes especially in a hurry or when an intense blitz is going on. Sure, wish I was perfect like others on here. I will never stop learning and will always have room to improve.

    What's Cooking?

We all post what we have done before. Does not get old to me.
  17. Six of you it is. I will get a person while out today to pick a number for a winner.
  18. Great deal and nice to hear that they are standing behind the product. We had a similar issue with the but plate recoil pad on out Benilli Vinci shotguns. They both began to get sticky and deteriorate at a rapid rate. It was falling apart. I got online to find everyone was having a problem with that. Contacted Benilli to find out you had to buy a replacement they would not cover the product. With everyone having the problem that is poor customer service. Kudos to CVA.
  19. Could not be farther from the truth, What killed the market is the bleeding-heart anti-fur wearers. It is not the thing to wear now. Let's not use a sustainable animal but go to synthetics. Thing is there now there is a carbon footprint in manufacture process to make that clothing. Let's recycle what we throw away? Is this totally feasible? Doubt that really. Next thing you know with global warming we will all be able to walk around nekkid. No worries the furbearers will inherit the earth and things will be out of balance. The deer will hide in fear with no wild turkeys and quail to be found. The only game birds to survive will be the doves that are able to roost in trees.🤣
  20. You are in John!
  21. Tomorrow Morning right after 5am when I have my first cup of coffee, I am going to end the giveaway deal so if anyone wants in tonight is last call!
  22. You want in john?
  23. Yes, and foghorn is a bear of a guy.
  24. Not if I trip Doug 🤣.
