  1. I have seen similar occurrences and heard of many others. The leniency is ridiculous. I can understand some leniency here and there for very special cases, but like you said, it's more than norm than the exception. If you don't know the rules or just don't care, you have to pay the price for that. It makes me want to be an agent.
  2. Good job! You have the timing of those whites dialed in! I'm always surprised they're doing their run this late by you. I suspect most WB runs on the larger tribs are done by now.
  3. Congrats! I gotta find me some on LOZ or trailer my boat to Truman.
  4. Seth, we'll keep an eye out for you to introduce ourselves. We'll be in my buddy Jason's blue & white Skeeter fish n ski.
  5. We'll see you there Pete. Not sure which unit we're in, but plan to get down there Friday late morning.
  6. Nice job Phil! See you this weekend.
  7. Congrats Ryan!
  8. I'm saying it was a turtle from the description of chunks missing, but if it had any claw marks I'd switch my answer to otter. Especially if you were on the little Niangua. We have had a fair amount of issues with them. I second the notion of checking your line in the night. I feel like they bite the best before midnight, so a check around 11pm or midnight is the "sportsman" thing to do and then you can re-bait the line too and possibly double up!
  9. I had nightmares about that giant spider!!!
  10. Sounds like fun! Congrats.
  11. Thanks for the report. I wish I had time to bring my boat and hit Truman, but not this time. Love those blues and would love to get into some hybrids.
  12. I fish pretty far up around 85mm on the osage at least once at this time of year and typically catch one or two whites while we work the banks and docks for LMB's. I'd rather fish for whites and crappie, but I'm overruled. If someone catches one on a spinner bait, I'll cast back in with a white crank bait and rarely succeed with a 2nd white. We rarely catch a 2nd one on spinnerbaits either where we caught the 1st and haven't caught more than 3 out of one spot. I know whites and hybrids are supposed to be numerous way up the Osage, but haven't experienced it much myself.
  13. Nice job and great story!
  14. Agreed!
  15. yup. Lamprey. I found them on LOZ fish a fair amount last year.
  16. With today's rain being the only weather in the forecast for the next couple of weeks, I can't follow their logic if they don't let today's rain bring the level up to 657 or close to it. They're falling behind on their own guide curve. They have to be planning to catch up and be at summer pool by Memorial Day, so why not start now?
  17. I hear ya. The couple of times I've gone out we've tried to make sure to fish the evenings, but since I'll have all weekend to do nothing but fish, I hope we can find a bite earlier too.
  18. Thanks for the reports guys! Gonna give the crappie a try this weekend if I can find an open stretch of bank or brush pile that doesn't have a BBB boat on it.
  19. I've heard varying opinions on eating them. What are your thoughts (maybe a comparison to other fish)?
  20. Sad to hear that. I always enjoyed listening to him talk bass fishing when I was younger.
  21. I'm headed to Ontario for a fly-in in late May and plan to do some lake trout fishing along with walleye, pike, and bass. I've never taken electronics with me before, but I'm debating on taking an old Eagle b/w depth finder with me or if I should go ahead and take my Helix 7 SI. I have access to a good portable & adjustable transom mounting bracket for whichever one I bring. Any thoughts?
  22. I have a friend who is more of a pure fly fisherman than I and he swears by them. He is strictly a dry fly guy. I haven't made the switch yet myself.
  23. Never had grass carp, but I've had buffalo and common carp from LOZ and thought they were both good taste-wise, after removing all of the really red meat, but I can never get enough of the bones out to make it as high on my list as some who are better at it. I've scored and used hot hot peanut oil, but I think my scoring spacing was too wide.
  24. Now that's funny. I don't care who you are, That's funny! It takes a lot to make me actually laugh out loud from reading a post and that did it.
