  1. Put that bad boy on ebay and you'll have it sold in a week. The used ones are going for just about what you're asking and a little more, between $385 and $430. I bought a Z-Axis 790-4 a while back and I really like it.
  2. Because they won't. LOL I'm on the fence about this one. I love my felt, and I hate Vibram soles or any other rubber soles. They're worlds apart when it comes to traction on greased cannonballs and slickrock. You might as well be out there barefoot without felt. Rubber soles suck, studs or no studs, I don't care what anyone says. I've used them, and I've busted my butt with them and nearly broken an ankle several times. On the other hand, if the only way to protect the streams is to ban felt, then I'm begrudgingly for it, because if you leave it up to the "people," they'll just do whatever they darn well please, just like they always do, and we all know it. I'll continue my habit of listening to scientists when it comes to matters of science. You guys can theorize all the conspiracies you want...this decision isn't about money, it's about preserving what little nature we have left in this country. I'm gonna take the biologists' word for it, bite my tongue, and deal with the PITA of rubber soles. That is all. (That's my new closer...thanks J )
  3. That link didn't work for me, but here's one that did... http://www.kspr.com/news/local/kspr-branson-tourism-down-for-summer-one-business-begs-to-differ-20110826,0,5270752.story Glad you guys are back on your feet.
  4. Bring all the lead you have and be prepared to fall in the river. It's a doozy. Wise makes it look easy, but it ain't.
  5. He edited the post...originally the title of the thread was Disco 119 and the link was to the Pack...so there! Just so you know FJ80, the reason you haven't sold your canoe already is because you can get a new Disco (Guide, whatever) 119 brand new for what you're asking. That's what I paid for mine. It's a great day tripper, but why would someone pay the same price for a used one when they could get it brand spankin'? Just FYI, not trying to be a dick.
  6. You didn't learn all there is to know on the first go-round? I won't be attending for number two. Those classes are dreadful. And here's what they teach you... Your wife is pregnant. Pretty soon another person is going to fall out of her. It's gonna suck.
  7. There are long stretches of shallow riffle divided by some very deep bluff holes on that stretch, so be prepared to do a lot of bushwhacking and a LOT of work. I'd take the canoes, pack light, and prepare to do a bunch of dragging. Its' still gonna be work, but nothing compared to hiking that stretch.
  8. Poorly.
  9. Wonder if the 80 year old hook could have anything to do with it?
  10. I'm confused. Is it a Pack or a Disco 119? Those are two different canoes with two very different price tags.
  11. GPX just means general presentation, and it refers to the taper, not the texture. SA makes GPX in the standard smooth line and the textured Sharkskin...the Sharkskin is a little more. It does seem to mend a little better, but honestly that's the only advantage I've convinced myself of thus far.
  12. Another two thumbs down vote on the Rio Gold from me...I haven't liked it so much on my 5wt. The SA GPX Sharkskin on my 7wt I've really liked, but beware, it makes noise through your guides and it'll drive you nuts 'til you get used to it. My 7 is pretty fast so I like the extra half weight heavier.
  13. Aw, that's cute. Wrenchie made a new friend.
  14. I like your style, bro. There's a guy here of MFU fame that has, on at least one occasion, floated with his bike in his canoe and ridden it back to his vehicle at the end of the day. It was on the James, don't know which accesses he used. Couldn't be worse than a 25 mile round trip. Of course he was doing it out of necessity and not for exercise...maybe that's your idea of a good time? Now someone toss me another bratwurst. Oh, and Schopenhauer is better than Kierkegaard. I like the avatar, though.
  15. All those women in your house must be making you a mite nervous...looks like wolverines got to your fingernails. The one in the water...did you coat that head or does it just look shiny because of the water? Looks great.
  16. It's a solid theory, and maybe you're right. It's just that there is no more sleazy and powerful entity on the planet than the oil lobby, and I always default to blaming them for, well, just about everything. But it does beg Cricket's question...why not implement that law for all commodities then?
  17. Because the grocery stores don't give the politicians millions of dollars every year. I'd be willing to bet it's a law pushed by oil lobbyists and passed by the pols in their pockets to keep gas prices fat and healthy. If I ran the government, I'd pass that law for my field of business, too, so customers couldn't find competitive prices. It would be especially helpful if I was selling something people basically can't live without. It's a racket, and we're stuck with it apparently.
  18. Maybe you guys didn't get the memo...discrimination is okay when it comes to fish. All fish are NOT created equal. Some have greater value than others. Crane rainbows qualify.
  19. I fart in your general direction.
  20. The Cuda looks awesome...if it came with the Yeti I'd be all over it. But WHY did they put Perez Hilton and Cher in charge of that video? Flaming.
  21. Did we forget something Mr. Context? That spot was native. I'da tossed him back in the drink.
  22. I woulda taken you up on the baby stuff, but the wife "garage saled" all summer, and now I'm swimming in all the crap. She'll use it for a week and it'll go back in a box.
  23. Shocks, pegs. Lucky!
  24. Gotta love kype. Great fish.
  25. Search Al Agnew's threads about Big River. He's pretty much covered it here from top to bottom. The MDC Paddler's Guide will give you the basic access points, and there are more if you research them.
