  1. I ran across that last month, very very interesting indeed.
  2. No where in MO that I have ever been. They have a bunch in AR if you really want to get into them. BTW: There are also a bunch of suckers in TCMO. A couple of my friends used to gig them there a lot.
  3. That's a good thing. I know I pay through the nose when I hunt or fish out of state.
  4. crappie That was my dad's nick name also. That is why I chose it. If there are any numbers, they should be to 39 by now. I am not in a position to get there just now so I was doing a little internet fishing. I plan to be there later this month but there is a lot of water to cover without any outside input. By the time I get there they could be at Fish Trap Shoal, Lake Creek Cove, or Barker's in the river or Slough Hollow, the Shoot or even the Rock Hole in BC. That is totally too much for one guy to cover in a reasonable amount of time. I used to see Buster L down there with guide parties. Does he still go or has he quit that.
  5. Maybe Forsythian has been there and can shed a little light on the subject if he ever reads this.
  6. I used to fish down there (30 years) from Jan 1 till the tourists drove me out in April. The whites disappeared a few years ago and I quit going to that pond. I am wondering if or not the population has returned to anything resembling normal.
  7. Is anyone fishing upper Bull Shoals from say K Dock to Forsyth for whites?
  8. A friend of mine pulls a 17' alum. with a 4 cyl and has no problems with the towing. However, I have been with him when stopping was a concern.
  9. I have been messing around with it for a couple of years. It has never really paid off on bass but has been killer for crappie at times.
  10. That sounds like a problem one of my friends had. Bruce Tangora at Tangora Marine in Nixa fixed him right up for about $50 which is only a fraction of what new hydraulic steering costs.
  11. Bull Shoals has some good smallmouth but not like Table Rock. You can get them all over the lake but if I were picking an area it would be from Point 10 to the dam. The particular pattern can vary and it is a bit early to set it in stone.
  12. Your end of the lake is very good. The last time I jerked that part we caught bass on chrome/black, chartruse, and gold/black suspending short billed.
  13. Good to hear the good news. We got power back in a couple of days. I have friends and relatives who have been on generator power for many days and prolly will be for another week.
  14. It could be very good for jerk baits when you get there. If I didn't want to spend a lot of time in mfg. malls and shows I would for sure bring the boat.
  15. I'd pick up a extra card and take pics of everything until I got used to its features. It won't be long till you will be posting pics in all the forums here.
  16. I sure am glad some one is still fishing that part of the lake.
  17. There are lots of good units out there. Bass Pro, Marine Repair Center in Springfield, the shop I think it is called Tackle box or something like that in Nixa Any of those should be able to fix you up. Just get a 3 bank charger of 10 or 15 amps and you should be fine.
  18. From what I have heard that area as well as Cape Fair is real slow this winter. Stockton is doing pretty good.
  19. Wish I were there.
  20. I have run a lot of different batteries and believe that brand is not as important as maintainance. I just got rid of batteries which were close to 5 years old and still going strong, but after that much time I was beginning to wonder if they would let me down sometime soon. What I do is get deep cycle batteries with the most reserve amps that I can get (preferably 200). Never let the water get low and never let them set for more than one day after use before recharging. I always get them at a marine shop of some kind instead of a Wally World or auto parts store. If you are close to Spfld. George at Marine Repair Center or Rick at Fin and Feather should be able to fix you up.
  21. You can go to Back Country Outfitters in the Fremont center in Springfield. The guys there have always been very helpful and will have the components which you will need. You can also go to Bass Pro Shop in Springfield to the fly shop and get help. BCO will probably be more able to give 1 on 1 than a busy place like BPS.
  22. Thanks for the reply. The swimmin' minnow has been a Ozarks bait for a long time. There are lots around here but not the color I need. http://www.ztackle.com/products.asp?cat=328
  23. Translucent brown with black and green flake swimmin' minnows? Who manufactures them?
  24. Don't know about cheap, but they aren't bad quality: http://www.lowe.com/fishboats/roughneck/
