    Ducks/geese

Lots of yard carp the last time I was there. Close to both Rouark campgrounds.

General pract. Jon Clark is a no frills guy in Spfld. Very reasonable office charges. Independent cowboy. Not affiliated with any group. Cash business only.

    Ducks/geese

This morning I saw some geese in the pond in our neighbor hood. How bout coming over and killing them.
  4. Yep. My wife looked out the window a while ago and saw it. It was quite a surprise and welcome as a boil. I just caught the weather report. The next 2 or 3 days don't sound too promising. Now would be a good time to be a South Texan.
  5. Only the site owner could go with an out of state team.
  6. Tell John and Rick that Dutch says howdy.

    Season Is Over

Looks like you will be eating good this winter.
  8. I only got to fish for a while this morning. The wind finally put me on the trailer. The fish were hitting a jig and spinnerbait. We had 14 blacks and 33 whites in under 4 hours. If I had a bigger boat and stronger trolling motor I would still be out there. A saw 2 different boats at the ramp who had been crappie fishing. Both boats said they had done "pretty good" what ever that means.
  9. We did keep a few to eat.
  10. Two of us caught 27 blacks and 50 whites in the Big Sac arm today. We had tubes, jigs and salt craws tied on. They were on the windiest banks on the lake.
  11. I haven't seen anything about TR crappie so far. I was just wondering if anyone is going. So I guess I'll have to go myself.
  12. Don't know that one but I have a Sony A100 that works pretty well.

    Crappie Line

Have you tried a light braided line like a 10/2 or an 8/1. They have good feel, no strecth and great castability. With Pomme de Terre's mostly off colored water they might do the trick for you.

    Crappie Equipment

The serious crappie guys I know use rods up to 16' long. If your new rod has the backbone, float and fly could be done with it.
  15. There is a guy just south of Springfield who was doing that. PM me if you want his name.
  16. Color for sure is easier to use.
  17. That is the only way I fish it.
  18. I just got mine. Have you guys gotten yours yet?
  19. mav, Welcome aboard. I fish for bass quite a lot. I like Stockton, Pomme de Terre, Table Rock and Truman.
  20. You can see your baits with any machine if you have the bait in the cone. You will be able to see them better if you have a good number of pixels. I have 480X480 and really like the resolution. If you are interested in target separation then a color unit would be a wise choice. I have moved to color and never plan to go back to B/W again. You can go to Lowrance's website and download emulators for their machines and play around with them to see what features you like. I am not sure about the other companies. If you are close to Springfield, George Robinson at Marine Repair Center is the most knowledgeable electronics guy I have ever talked with. Go by and have a chat with him and he can point you in the right direction. Good luck.
  21. Maribou and bucktail are very hard to reuse if you screw up a jig. On the other hand craft hair stays together and you can take a jig apart and reuse it. Find you a piece of it and use it until you get to making jigs the way you want them to look.
  22. A few things you can do: use sinkers with the swivel in them like the Bakudan, put a ball bearing swivel in the line above the bait, use braided line and/or reel in very very slowly. All of these things will lessen drop shot line twist.
  23. Get yourself a vice, a whip, a bobbin, some jig heads and some type of material (buck tail, maribou, craft hair, etc.) and some thread. Then do a Google search and you will find plenty of pics and instructions about jig tying. If you are ever in a Bass Pro shop, Cabelas, or Back Country Outfitters in Spfld. The guys will be happy to give you tips, especially if you spend a little cash.
  24. If you want to go on farther down, West Sugar Loaf gives up some in the fall as does the point west of the marina.
  25. Just be sure you have some pocket change. My wife and I had lunch at Zoey's and dropped a 50.
