  1. I know someone who has that, they like it most of the time, but says it gets a bit slippery in bad weather. I thought about it myself, but I like to fish in the winter, so I just stuck with carpet.
  2. Yeah, what WW said. Just be careful out there, lot of crap floating out there.

    Whatchya Drinking?

used 8 oz of cane sugar at start of boil. I really think we didn't have enough water from the mash and sparge. (6.25 gallons) After 90 min of boil, only a bit over 4 gallons. Target was 5 gallons. Starting 1.111, final 1.019. = 12.08% Target was around 9.4% Now the pale ale was an extract kit, which really surprises me that I was off so much. Starting 1.074 final 1.012 = 8.14% The last pale ale was spot on and it was the same kit. The only thing I did different was added .5oz of bitter orange peel and .4oz of coriander around 10 min left in the boil, and I used citra hops in the last edition instead of cascade. This one really has me scratching my head.

    Whatchya Drinking?

The first Dogfish 90 min IPA clone came in around 8-9% abv. It was as good if not better than the original. The 2nd clone, for some reason came in at 12.1% abv. Now it's really young, so I hope it mellows a bit, (more like quite a bit). But not balanced at all. Over the top alcohol. Might be a pour out and try again. I also got a pale ale in the fermenter, AND it for some reason is coming in with high abv. Not sure whats going on right now. This pale ale was suppose to come in at around 5.2%, I'm estimating a little over 8%. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, my last 6 batches have been spot on. My Chinook IPA will come in a little high, maybe 1/2-3/4% higher than expected, so I'm not real worried about this. It should be drinking next week. I tried one last night, tasted good, just hasn't fully carbonated, probably next week she'll be ready to go. Dry Stout is next!

Just bought the 90 min IPA, and brewing another clone to compare. The first clone was about as good as it gets! So different from West Coast IPA's.
  7. Save the drama for yer mama!

To windy to fish,. So opened up a Pliny the Elder clone. Then a Dogfish Head 90 min IPA Clone. The Pliny was good, but no where close to 9% abv,. Still a good example of a west coast DIPA. If we can get it closer to 9, then look out! Dogfish Head was amazing. One would think it would be overly hoppy, since you are adding hops every 10 minutes of a 90 minute boil. But sooooo balanced. And a big head too!

Man Soda while I brew, and the results about a month later.
  10. Larry Gale would work.
  11. Nice Job!
  12. Thanks for the report.
  13. I do remember that. But sorry, to me all it is, is a memory.
  14. Thanks for the report!
  15. Is #5 a Pico Chico or a Pico Perch?
  16. Good Luck, it's really nice out there!
  17. welcome!
  18. temps on the big Niangua were in the upper 40's. Lots of crappie and quite a few spotted bass. Hardly any boats out down in my neck of the woods.
  19. I've caught quite a few at LOZ, most have been in the 13" range +/- . Don't recall catching any 15" or better. Since I don't really bass fish too much anymore. What is the consensus on keeping spots?
  20. OP, thanks for the nostalgia. I knew John and Frankie also, definitely not as well as you, but we used to stay at both Webb Creek and Piedmont park quite often. In fact, my dad and I used to keep our boat in one of John's covered slips for a few years. If I remember correctly, he was a big Johnson/Evinrude guy. I know when I brought my first boat down there he saw it had a 50hp Merc on the back, and he just shook his head. I always wondered about what ever happened to him, his wife and boy. I forgot the boys name, but he was closer to my age at the time. I remember staying up late with them trying to shoot this large beaver that was wreaking havoc on the dock lines. We didn't get it that night, but they got it later that week. It was a monster! And the boy took me on my first jet boat ride down Logan creek about as far as you could go. Wow, talk about crazy! After I finally got to know Frankie a little better, I got the real scoop on the stringer, and it was like you said. heck of a stringer! He once told me he'd take me out for a day, but we were never able to hook up. Wonder what happened to him also. Clearwater was really the first big lake I really consistently fished. Mainly from early 70's until mid 80's. I did take my dad back there in the early 90's with my family for a camping trip at Piedmont Park, but since them, haven't been back.
  21. Nice report
  22. Welcome to the board
  23. That's a nice fish! I couldn't get to 12" this weekend, but still nice to be out!
  24. Nice Vid! Looked a tad windy. Your boat probably looks like mine, dock scratches up and down. For me, I catch em like this until the water temp dips in the mid 30's, then it gets pretty tough. You can still catch them, but its not as fast and furious, then after Valentines day, and the water temps starts its rise, a nice sunny day, little chop, and then it's back to slaughtering them again. Plus, the size is generally better. Get em while you can!
