  1. The Ozark Heritage Project is sponsoring a boat riding and fish gigging opportunity beginning at 1:00 this Saturday afternoon at the Pulltite Campground in north Shannon County. The campground is located off Highway 19 south, on Route EE to the Current River. The boat riding and fish gigging opportunity will be held at the river access. The boat rides will be free and there will be refreshments available including water, soda, hot dogs, and then fried yellow suckers and potatoes. The National Park Service is proposing Alternative B for the new Draft General Management Plan for the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, and part of the new restrictions include a year round ban on outboard motors on upper Current River and upper Jacks Fork. The boats that will be made available to all guests are the very ones they wish to exclude. The Ozark Heritage Project is presenting this opportunity so that more people can make informed decisions as to their comments on the new proposals. There will be no charge, but if anyone actually wants to gig that evening, they must have a valid Missouri Fishing License. People not wishing to actually take fish can still ride along and witness the sport firsthand. Life jackets will be provided. All of the activities will conclude around 9:00 PM. If you have any questions or want more information about the boat rides or gigging, contact Rick Mansfield at 573-663-2269, or send him an e-mail at emansfield2004@yahoo.com. Reservations are NOT necessary, but some idea of the number participating will better ensure their ability to have enough boats and food.
  2. You left out Sleet. Wea re gettting the full boat tomorrow. KY3 out of Springfield is the most accurite for predicting the weather here. Check em out before you bail on the trip.
  3. My kids have floated with us since they were newborns. At ten they were running their own kayaks. They are now young adult women and run the back of the canoe almost as good as their old dad.
  4. Had great float today! 7 boats out of Baptist to Cedar. Had the County Commissioners from Dent and Shannon with us. This event was written about in the Salem News. Dont let the feds keep you out! The road to Baptist is a Dent county road, we cost shared with the park service to pave it. The Road to Parker is a county maintained road, as well. The road to Cedar is a county road also. I saw lots of fish today and only 1 fisherman. A small group of folks on horse back.
  5. You could spend hrs @ that hole
  6. The longer this goes on the better the fishin will be for me. It was ruff trout fishing this weekend on the upper river. The smallies were taking everything.
  7. You will still be able to get to the Current. Baptist, Parker, and Cedar are on County rds.

  10. One gravel bar not much, However we have thousands of miles of streams in MO. Take 300feet X thousands of miles and thats a chunck of change.
  11. If you did succeed in taking the river front owners property, how would you come up with the cash to compensate them? What about the county's school children that would lose the tax money?
  12. And campgrounds and canoe rentals!
  13. Looks like it's going to go away. Thanks to all who called their county commissioners, State reps, State Sens. and federal Reps and Sens and your local ngos! http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/M/MO_BLUEWAY_BACKLASH_MOOL-?SITE=MOCAP&SECTION=STATE&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
  14. Well said. The oufitters on the ONSR are already limited on the amounts of boats they can put in at a given access. What is not regulated is private boats. Becareful of what yuo ask for!
