  1. The Dude Abides!!
  2. You and Scott ought to get "Customer of the Year" awards
  3. I hear ya John. I had a guy steal my trailer plates at an MDC boat ramp with 2 year tags right after I bought them. Would love to catch them in the act but I know nothing good would come from our meeting!
  4. I really like this new Strike King 3 XD, runs 10-12 ft and is only 2" long (the body). I always wanted to get and extra 2-3 feet depth out of my wiggle wart and this one fits the bill.
  5. I agree, I always thought the merchants were pretty optimistic after '93.
  6. I tied a bunch of striper jigs with Enrico Puglisi fibers instead of buck tail and the translucency of the fibers worked well on Ouachita. I used two tone gray/white and seemed to get more hits than regular buck tail
  7. Check out our own TrphyFshR on the OAF, he does an awesome job, I've got a few of his custom painted Warts myself.
  8. Kind of all depends on which lures you're throwing. There is much overlap in your selection of rods for the specific lure selection though. I would rather try to master 2-3 rods and get good at them than try to choose 4-6 rods that are too specific. Also, since you fish out of a jet boat, you can use a little longer rod than a guy fishing out if a kayak or canoe. A 6-6 1/2' med with a fast action tip will be good for many things.
  9. Not a bad idea
  10. I get the feeling Ness that you're in great need of money. Have you ever considered getting a patent on the spud cannon? Is it for sale on Craigslist too?
  11. Can I post date the check?
  12. Yes you're right, I rarely if ever fish smaller streams anymore and have only fished out of a canoe once or twice in the last 10 years and that was with you and Andy.
  13. It's just really hard to catch a bigger fish in clear water. Yes, I could throw really small crankbaits in super clear water and catch smaller fish, but that's not what I'm after. Although jerkbaits are better at clear water than crankbaits, it's still difficult to catch big fish with them in very clear water. Another topic I've always wondered about seems to always come up when I fish with Zipstick. I've fished with him a lot over the last 7-8 years and he seems to elude to the fact that the different species of fish seem to bite at different times. He will catch all largemouth from 9-10am then the smallmouth start biting at 1:00, or some variation of that. In my mind I've always wondered if it was just the location on the river where the largemouth spot was, or where the smallmouth spot was, not that the largemouth turned off and the smallmouth started. But he believes they turn on at different times.
  14. Or maybe Manhattans
  15. I was forced to use a blade bait (silver buddy) in the Clarion River in Pennsylvania while at a job site. A guy let me use his rod and the only 2 lures he had were silver buddys. I actually caught quite a few nice smallies. It was mid winter too.
  16. I think because most jerk baits stay in the strike zone longer because of the pause and it drives fish crazy. Also they have a much more realistic profile.
  17. No kidding, the spin starts here!
  18. 24 cans of beer in a case,,,24 hours in a day........coincidence?
  19. I agree with TrphyFshR, water clarity determines when I fish a crankbait. When the water is clear I usually stay away from them. If you think about it, the only stealthy presentation in clear water is when you use a background to your advantage like the surface or the the bottom. When a fish approaches a lure like a crankbait in the middle zone they have the advantage to see it more clearly.
  20. For a name like Tearin up topwater it looks like you spend a lot of time dragging the bottom..... Nice fish!!
  21. Grounded, expelled, hand slap, Foul!!
  22. Well Bull Shark gets voted #1 deadliest shark. Apparently their bite is much stronger than a great white in size comparison. Also, once a Great White determines you're too boney, they won't come back for seconds, (doesn't matter unless you survive the first tasting). But a bull shark will continue eating no matter what!!! Scary. Something else I found interesting is the attacks on the jersey shore that spawned the movie Jaws were not only on the beach but also inland freshwater rivers which can only be a bull shark because they can thrive in salt or fresh water. Ths movie wouldn't have been as scary with a 8 ft bull shark though!
  23. Hey, I Iike boobs as much as the next guy, but you're right, what is it about about rivers or lakes that makes their tops come off? Thanks for making my point for me. Families have just as much right to be on the river as the drunks. Like I said, if you can't do it in a grocery store then why should it be appropriate on the river?
  24. Old Plug, I don't specifically fish for bass on beds but right before and after.
